Mosaic Update: New Build

We released a new build this afternoon that addresses the following:

-Additional performance/memory usage optimization
-Bug fixes for users on Vista related to file permissions
-Functional/cosmetic updates for smoother experience
-Added option to disable alerts
-Installer updates to utilize the latest NexDef software
We are still working on the intermittent issues that a few of you have reported with the 1.2 megabit streams, but believe that the NexDef updates may resolve this in the latest version. We’re very curious to hear your feedback. For the quickest response, please head over to our Support Forum.

Thanks again,

Justin

I’m not sure if you all figured this out yet but check your date and time on your computer. Mine was 1 day ahead. Once I fixed that Mosiac finally worked…

I haven’t been able to use mosaic all season. I keep getting the temporarly unavailable message. What should I do?

  3. matt.hess@hotmail.com

I’m getting a message that the mosaic is only available to premium subscriber. I am a premium subscriber, and have been using the damn thing all year. What the f?

  4. hrshpeherd@yahoo.com

Me too Matt. I get the “only avail to premium subscriber” message too. I am a Premium subscriber.

Please advise when the system is up and running.

Will the Royals last the whole season?

    What happened to the Tigers?

  5. hlandau@comcast.net

I have also received the same message. Is this Uncle Bud’s way of trying to get more money from us?

  6. candiman87

yeah, i got the same message as well. This is such bullshit. I’m paying $19.95 per month for this and it sucks. I cant even see the games in 1.5 mb quality. You people better f**king fix this soon.

I’m having the “Mosaic temporarily unavailable” problem as well. I haven’t been able to get it to work once this season. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Just another paid premium subscriber who gets the “You must be a premium subscriber” message when trying to run Mosaic. Unacceptable.

How about the “Records show that your account is currently logged in on multiple computers. Customers are not permitted concurrent use of a single subscription” error message? I don’t even have another computer…this operation is a complete joke. How about refunding my money?

can you guys put mlb.tv back up? im fine with maybe updating the mosaic service (hopefully thats what youre doing), but i cant watch anything on the mlb.tv site from my browser.. cant you guys at least tell us something when youre gonna put the whole system down? please? yeesh

  11. matt.hess@hotmail.com

Now it says that it can’t connect to the internet. Well, I’m clearly connected to the internet since I’m leaving yet another frustrated message on this blog site. This is ridiculous.

  12. rmoore@carolina.rr.com

How do I go about requesting a refund? Do I dispute the charge with my creidt card company? You are not delivering what I paid for.

Try as I might, I can’t get Mosaic to run at all this season. Uninstall — reinstall — uninstall again — reinstall again. Every time I open it, it crashes (Dell Latitude D600, gig of ram, XP, all the updates applied) almost immediately. Occasionally I get to type my password in (hurray!), but it crashes immediately after that anyway.

Between this and the utter failure of the Silverlight player (Audio feeds almost always quit after about 2 seconds of sound, video turns into a sputtering stalling slideshow after an inning or two and a browser restart is required, the fullscreen isn’t nearly as good as it used to be — and doesn’t even work at all in FireFox) — What once was the best money I ever spent on an online product has become a complete and frustrating nightmare.

Is there any hope for the classic player to come back on the website? Any hope for a Mosaic that’ll actually launch? This is making the Tigers getting creamed just that much worse.

I’m getting a “The gameyou have selected is not live an has not been archived.” The gme I selected is KC-Sea and it is in the 3rd inning. This is not cool.

  15. mmathias2@yahoo.com

Call me a conspiracy theorist, but until MLB’s broadcast business model changes we’re never going to see a decent online video product. Under the current broadcast system, networks that air the games on t.v. share advertising revenues with MLB. Once MLB delivers footage of the games directly to consumers and cuts out the middlemen (the networks) they can keep all advertising revenues for itself, and use those profits to fund better technology and video delivery.

Ever notice how MLB.TV doesn’t air ads? I think it’s because networks still have power over MLB and don’t want to get cut out of the pie. By the same token, the networks have every incentive to make sure that MLB continues to provide a very third rate video service- which is what we have with Mosaic that doesn’t work and MLB.com video servers that are down about 50% of the time.

The $19.95 fee is barely a drop in the bucket compared to potential ad revenues. And I would gladly put up with ads for a better service.

Tried to watch the archived Royals-Mariners game from 4/15. Several stream errors, consant eversion to beinning of boadcast, and wouldn’t go beyond the 46 minute mark (2nd inning). Very frustrating.
    Anything I can do?

  17. ajacobsen@austin.rr.com

Mosaic continues to show the “please check back later as service is temporarily unavailable” message.

Silverlight has never worked at 1.2mb

I see respones from Shane on the forum page which seem to indicate Mosaic is operable, but it has not been for me since day one. I didn’t have these problems last year.

  18. krapllab@chorus.net

Every time I get to the “Loading” screen at startup, it says:

“The MLB.tv got an unanticipated exception while logging in. Invalid character in base 64 string”

After I click “OK” Mosaic shuts down, so I have no access to even get in? Anyone know if there’s anything I should be doing on my end so I can at least get in and watch some baseball. Thanks!!!

Any update on the below? It was supposed to be a couple of days….

Unable to connect through proxy. Proxy requires authentication but fails instead of prompting for credentials as the MLB.TV from the website does. Any word on proxy support for mosaic??

    By shawn@smithplanet.net on April 2, 2007 8:08 AM

shawn, we’ll have to add support for proxies with authentication, give us a day or two and we’ll have it in. it will work through normal http proxies.

    Justin:
I am an out of town Phillies fan, and I love the fact that I can watch the Phillies on both Mosaic and MLB.TV. I’ve got to say Phillies look great on my iMAC;-) Have a couple of suggestions, any chance that you can improve the install guide on Mosaic, and also develop a plug-in for the toolbar. I have added the logo to my toolbar, but I have 2 instances of the logo when Mosaic is open.
    Thanks and Go Phils!
    Matt

Don’t subscribe to this service. The technology is terrible and the customer service is even worse. I can only hope that they use the $14.95 they stole from me to buy Bud Selig a sandwich for lunch and that he chokes on it.

I have to say I have been using Mosaic from day one of this season and it’s working fine for me…. my only frustration is with the blackout rule… I realize this is not the forum for that but if anyone knows what is the right place please tell me…. am a die hard phillies fan now living in Ohio… and for some reason The Reds and The Pirates black me out even though The Indians is my closest club…. Who the hell determines what zip codes are blacked out to what?

  23. mmathias2@yahoo.com

    Justin:

I’ve noticed a small problem with the score / bases ticker at the bottom of the video screen. When running at the highest video quality, there is a delay between what the ticker says and what is shown on the video- but a good 1 minute or so.

What this means is that I can tell when runners advance by looking at the ticker a minute before I see it. Even WORSE if the inning ends or someone scores I see it in advance! Totally ruins the experience.

Anyway your development team can sync the ticker with the video better?

Why is nothing working on MLB.TV? If I click on any game, any quanlity feed all I get is a plain dark blue screen. This is a new one. Plenty of previous problems.

  27. mfix13@hotmail.com

Okay, this isn’t really regarding silverlight, just MLB.com in general. I live in Oklahoma. I bought the MLB.com package so I could watch Yankees games. I have been repeatedly “blacked out” because somehow MLB.com is reading that I am in New York. From Oklahoma. Really? I’ve tried to get help all season from the “customer service” department at MLB.com and have been anything but successful. I’ve tried to call and can never get through. The few times I have I have been hung up on. I’ve sent emails and have received no resolution. I have even asked to get a refund as I can’t watch the games I was told I would be able to and was told that I was outside the “30 day window”. This is the worst customer service I have ever seen and have been unable to get any resolution or even talk to anyone that remotely ACTS like they care. At this point I’m just going to tell everyone I can not to get this package and to make other arrangements to watch games. I’m going to see what other blogs I can put this on and then contact the Better Business Bureau. Good luck baseball fans!

I can’t get the 1.2M stream to come in…it used to work but just stoped about a month and a half ago…it’s like the link is simply dead…it does absolutely nothing.
Never the less…I think that this is an awsome service. To be able to access every game from anywhere in the world while I am on the road on business is just wonderfull. It could be worse folks…we could have no baseball at all…or be forced to listen on the radio. Why don’t we all try and stay positive and hope that these problems get resolved…at least by the begining of the playoffs…or even opening day 2009. mlb.com is the best site on the net and I will support it any way I can. When you think about it what was your investment…250…300 bucks/year…I spent more than this buying shots at the bar last night. Let’s all gain some perspective and try to stay positive. Let’s go Cubbies.
