Vista Issues Today

Hi all,
We’ve just posted up a new release that we believe should fix the majority of the Vista issues introduced today. The self-updater should work (just close and re-open the mosaic, and it will self-update), and you should be able to get back in if you were able to before.

We have reports of this running well on vista pro and vista home, but need admin access on vista home premium. We’ll be continuing to work through these issues to make for more consistent behaviour over the next few days.

If you’re still having trouble after this update, please try the following:

1. For both the install and when running the app afterwards, right click on the icon and select Run As Administrator
2. If you’re still having trouble after the self-update, please try and uninstall and then re-install, as administrator.

Please also note that both the Mosaic and the Swarmcast app that gets installed need access to the internet, so when the Windows Firewall pops up and asks, you should let them have access.

    Working good for me on Vista Home Premium and running as Administrator. Some issues with the higher quality stream getting buffered but after 2 trys it works fine. Thanks for the updates.

    Ok, I’m going to try and do a reinstall on my pc. I had mosiac on both my laptop wirless and desktop. Laptop is xp, desktop Vista. I hadn’t been able to run MLBTV until I closed Mosiac down on my laptop. With Mosiac running, it would shut down my internet connection. When I tried to play MLBTV it would shut down my internet connection right after the commercial (about the deer). Why would your product shut down my internet connection? Yesterday, I could watch MLBTV with no problems.

    god. it was working for awhile then it crashed and i couldn’t get in. i uninstall and try to reinstall and i get a “error reading setup intialization file”

    i can’t win. i can’t download the mosaic now. can i just get my money back and get in through my cable like i wanted to anyway and forget this ever happened?

    I tried this method because i have vista premium, and now when install its not installing swarmcast, so the streams wont work.. arghhh

    yeah. i just installed swarmcast from their site and then install mosiac and no dice either.

    any one still up working on this??

    Installed and opened as admin. At the lowest video setting it is playing, however, freezing up every 10 to 15 seconds. Unfreezes in 3 seconds, freezes again in 10 seconds.

    Interesting- it will only work in 6 tv mode. switching to 1 tv mode freezes the screen and shuts down my internet connection. Says, stream error, retrying. Switch back to the 6 tv mode and the internet connection opens back up. Good night all.

    I don’t know my administrator password. Any ideas? Someone please get this ironed out. I didn’t pay $120 to keep trying these methods, and not watching baseball

    ok, installing separately swarmcast off of the swarmcast site is apparently a bad idea, according to the swarmcast guys sitting in my office with me right now.

    We’re using a custom version of the app right now, so you’ll need to use the version of it that comes with the Mosaic. Please try and uninstall everything, then rerun the mosaic setup as an administrator and then run the startup for the mosaic as administrator.

    i realize this is really convoluted, we’re working on cleaning up vista related issues and its near the top of the list.

    * Not installing swarmcast on Vista? I’ll look into this in the morning. Last I saw it worked fine.

    * the re buffering is a known issue and we are working on it.

    * What do you mean it “shuts down your internet connection” Your network adapter says your off line?

    I installed it as an administrator, swarmcast says it installed, but it didnt, I installed it regular and swarmcast didnt install again.. If I cant get my games through mosaic tomorrow, im demanding a refund. I’ve been on these boards since opening day trying all the updates and tricks and when I did have mosaic working I couldnt get single games to work. This is the most frustrating product I have ever used. I appreciate The few customer support people helping us out, but in my case and others its not doing squat for us.

    i am installing the up to date and size version. obviously it has reapeared for some reason.

    i’m too tired to mess with this now. i will be on this blog in the morning to try to work this out. if not i want my money back. i feel like i should be getting paid for this. been trying for the last 11 hours to try to make this thing work.

    Actually, you need to check out why in the last hour, the setup.exe size at the link you provided is only at 9856KB now? I have a 13080KB downloaded file from 1 hour ago. Both SETUP.EXE files indicate a file/product version of 4.01.00.076 which is newer than 2 days ago.

    Now, while I have WXP SP2, I *still* have not seen one game video at all in Mosaic after completely uninstalling both Swarmcast & Mosaic and even disabling BOTH my router & Windows Firewall (and even making sure both EXE’s are allowed through). As mentioned in previous posts, I always get the “stream error, retrying” then “network stream error”. What is the issue?

    All went well with for me tonight Justin, even with me running my desktop and laptop both at the same time. Things are looking swell. I did upgrade my video drivers last night as you suggested and that really helped. Thanks so much, you’re doing a great job..:)

    thought I’d give an update, I finally got it to install through administration and successfully install swarmcast, i opened mosiac through administration, and 6 game view works still with better audio, but still bad video, and single game view still doesnt work. still getting network stream error on both levels.

    The setup file size we will need to look into. It’s a issue with caching the file among a group of servers for faster downloads. It’s possible that one server has a bad version. The correct file should be 12.8mb April 4th 8PM

    System installed normally. Then ran the latest update. Now it does not work. Running Vista Home Premium. It has been uninstalled and reinstalled. I still get the same message:

    Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. I do and it doesn’t, I just get another error saying the exact same thing. It shows that it is attempting to retrieve the com class factory for component with CLSID {2A7F1E48-1724-487C-9419-F24F01CAA644} failed due to the following error: 800703e6.

    Basically your program does not run. If this cannot be solved, I want my money back.

    dukevargo – please make sure on vista home premium that you’re always running as an administrator. as i note in the post above, please right click on the icon and select run as administrator for both the setup, and when you are running the app. That should clear it up in the short term, though I’d very much appreciate you letting us know how it goes.

    I obviously reinstalled Mosaic, sorry if it was not clear, but the error message was from WITHIN Mosaic on the top center area. But a glimmer of hope, I used my thumb drive to copy the correct SETUP.EXE to a work laptop and tested Mosaic. It works flawlessly (of course little buffering delay in highest quality, which is very understandable). But that means something is amiss with my desktop… and it was rebuilt only 5 days ago for unrelated reasons, FYI. So I get the issue on my desktop just like some other people posting indicating seeing “stream error, retrying” within Mosaic.

    Must run as Admin, if current setup is not working uninstall, and run setup as admin, then run the first update and all future updates should be fine.

    That is good to hear, the “Stream error, retrying” is this on low quality video? or Medium and High? If its not clear that’s the 3 bars to the right of Video left being low right being highest. We’ve had some users intermingle Web viewing with Mosaic and they are not really similar as one is a browser one is an Program. So I wanted to make sure we were talking about the same thing. Thanks!

    Sorry for posting my problem in this thread, but I’m experiencing the same problem as lists:

    In Mosaic, I just can’t get a connection. It doesn’t matter what quality level I chose, it always results in “Stream error, retrying” and, ulimately, in “Network stream error”. I’ve already checked my firewall, but that isn’t the problem. Also, both my computer and my internet connection meet all the requirements for Mosaic. However, it just doesn’t connect.

    Any advice, please?

    (btw, everything’s working fine when I watch the games on MLB.com’s webplayer.)

    just wanted to tell you all that i appreciate all your hard work. i know you don’t get many thankyous, so i wanted to give you one. i know there are problems and i am sure you guys are doing your best to get all problems resolved. when mosaic did not work for me last night i just signed in on regular mlb tv and watched that way. i am at work so i won’t know if my laptop with vista (that was not working with mosaic last night is back up today) i will check when i get home tonight. just wanted to say thanks for all you guys are doing and i am happy with it all.

    I couldn’t get anything to run, so I uninstalled for like the 20th time, tried to reinstall but the new install file doesn’t work. I’ve sent 5 e-mails out now over the past 4 days, still not a single response. This is ridiculous.

    Whats this all about?? Im running Vista Ultimate 32 bit. Wont even open the Mosaic now, last night it was constantly stuttering, awful to watch. the sound was 5 seconds behind the video.
