Mosaic Video Quality / Streaming Issues
Hi all,
We’ve had some reports of buffering on the mosaic streams using our new technology, as and such will be providing a 700k stream using normal streaming on the lowest quality level in the mosaic. If you’re having trouble with the middle or high quality levels (just on the mosaic view), please comment here and let us know. The quality will not be as good as the 1.2 or 1.8, but we want to be sure that everyone can see video today. We’re working actively to ensure that the 1.2mbit and 1.8mbit streams are working well and looking good, and will update you here, hopefully before game time today.
Please note: The single game streams should all still work well, at both 400k and 700k via the mosaic.

I am having problems installing Mosaic altogether. All it says when I open the setup file is “error reading setup initialization file”
Anyone got any ideas?
I am also having a problem. I just downloaded Mosaic for Win XP Pro and it installed OK, but now when I launch the program it says “update found” and it attempts to download the update but then says “There was an error when trying to start the target application: Unable to find application.” and then Mosaic quits.
I’d love to get this product launched before 1:05PM ET, I hope you guys can work out the kinks before then!
Is the Player Tracker working? It didn’t take my changes, nor are they showing up on the Mosaic.
I loaded it okay, it started, it stopped, and now it won’t connect. Third time trying. Any ideas? Thanks.
i am also having issues w/player tracker, i added my whole team and it will never load in mosaic and then when i go back to edit it has all new players
having the same problem rigray. downloaded fine, now wont connect. please help.
Mosaic doesnt seem to finish loading for me. I just get a black screen after the updater and the error messages unhandled exception. The following is the details of that error:

It doesn’t work. Only shows me “Stream error” …
Can’t get Mosaic to install—Big Shocker..I knew MLB wouldn’t be ready for Opening Day.
I double-click to run “Setup.exe” and I get “Error reading setup initialization file”
So MLB, any thoughts??

I just lost the low-level 700k connection on Baseball Channel. Upon re-connecting, it now shows a 400k connection. I’m going backwards in quality!
now it wants my credit card number to verify my address. suuuurrrre. what’s going on?
I installed Mosaic and it updated and opened just fine, but when I tried to log on it told me I was not a premium user and closed, even though I did upgrade several weeks ago. Please help!
Well it kind of worked for a while .. then stopped and pestered me about an address .. since then it not really worked on live streams.
Firewall information is vague to say the least so it may be an incomming connection issue for those of us that have NAT routers.
On demand games seem to only show the 400k streams as being available but the 700k streams don’t show up in mosaic but appear on the website.
Not really been able to test any of the other features as I can’t get the streams working.
I have one machine that I cannot install on WinXP 64 bit. Does anyone have 64 bit working?
I have another machine that runs mosaic, but it keeps asking for my credit card info every time I start it and then again at various times during the broadcast. This is very annoying. Anyone else seen this behavior?
Freezes up and goes to “buffering” on the middle and high level within seconds of playing.
Tried Mosaic last year and I tried today. Appears to me to be the same overhyped and worthless service I’ve come to expect from MLB.com

Let me address some of the issues your seeing.
first “”error reading setup initialization file””
that says to me that the install didnt fully download or did not download correctly. Make sure the file is 13,056KB
“There was an error when trying to start the target application: Unable to find application.”
This error means that the update downloaded but it can not find the files. If you installed in the default directory, verify that there are files here “C:\Program Files\MLB TV Mosaic\TVScriptApp”
To redownload the files again, you can delete all folders under C:\Program Files\MLB TV Mosaic\applications\ that will trigger the app to get the files again.
The Player Tracker is currently “Sharing” one user so all updates are not taking into account the logged in user. This will be fixed soon!
Connection issues will clear up. I am also seeing the “connecting” message and no video. Try different quality levels, but currently 10am PST the video is down, and we are working on it.

So now Mosaic is asking me to re-enter my billing address, and all my credit-card information again b/c the system can’t verify my location for blackout restrictions? Quite apart from the silliness of blackout restrictions on the Internet, I have no way of knowing whether it’s transmitting over a secure server. Why should I have to give MLB.com this info again?

No, it says that you guys didn’t have the right file available for download…Finally, you fixed it though..10 minutes after starting time…Yippee
Problems installing Mosaic…..just wish EXTRA INNINGS would come back to cable.
I do not get any live games on the highest level video on mosaic 4 or 6. I ahve a 15mbit fios connection but can not watch the mosiac at all on either mac or pc. It is a real memory hog so far.
Watching the TOR @ DET game, single view and none of the graphics from the telecast seem to be appearing on the screen, and when they go to a replay on air it is not shown in mosaic. Any thoughts?

I have disabled all firewalls (windows and McAffee), but still getting the firewall error. Anyone else experiencing these issues, or find a way to get around them?

well I logged in to the browser version and watched some of the 700k feed then back to mosaic. everything seems to be working except there is no video feeds?!? And this address verifcation form pops up every 5 mins or so. Can we get rid of this form?
I can’t get any live game on Mosaic whether on low, middle or high quality. … Just Baseballchannel works but with freezing picture at all. … It`s a shame at all.
BTW: the f***ing CC Window comes every couple of minutes. …

I can see one game at a time, but I can’t see four of them on the screen. Isn’t that the point of Mosaic?
My setup file seems to be messed up, it is not the 13,056KB that is it suppose to be. Could somebody maybe send me a working setup file for PC at my email address below? Thanks alot.
I am still getting the following error when downloading the setup file after clearing the cache.

we’re working on the CC window issue – apologize for the inconvenience. we’ve also just made some additional changes to the streaming that should start to clear up the multi-game display buffering.
in the meantime, you can double click on one of the games at the top of the screen to switch to single game view to watch the games youd like to watch. you can also use the team drop down, at the top right.
I also get the message that can’t connect due to firewall…. well, all my firewall’s are disable…what gives…no shock…sounds like another piece of ****…great job mlb….and good job on keeping me from watching mlb extra innings, since I have cable and can’t get direct….. go for the dollar and forget everything else…NICE!!!!!
It’s definately fairly buggy, would increasing the buffer in WMP help, or is mosaic independant of WMP?
Mosaic installed fine… but I can’t get any picture, only audio, whether I’m trying to get four games at a time or only one.
And when I called in to the (predictably swamped) customer service number, I sat on hold for 20 minutes and then got cut off.
One more complaint: using the “regular” (non-mosaic) Premium MLB.TV, I don’t think that I should have to watch the same deodorant commercial over and over every time I switch between games.
I thought the video quality was going to be better this year, it says its running at 600+k, but i’m sorry, it’s the same lousy quality as last year at 350k
Also in the mosaic view, wether 4 or 6 windows, all i see is the “MLB.TV” logo on the screen, no video.
I also get the “error reading setup initialization” when I run setup.exe. The file I downloaded (from the Mosaic page) is 12,091,392 bytes.
Is there another URL I should use to download an install that actually works?
I get nothing but a MLB.TV logo on all the channels expect for the Baseball Channel which works fine. Tried restarting same thing.
I too am receiving the “firewall” error message- yet I have my firewall completely shut down.
Any idea when/if I can expect a fix for this- or any workarounds that anyone has?
Additional information, the bad video quality makes sense, as Mosiac says “Watching at 652k” and yet 2 different bandwidth monitors i use show a total bandwidth useage of 250-300k, which means the Mosaic bandwidth is total BS.
Mosaic is STILL giving me the “error reading setup initialization file” message.

I’ve downloaded it, in full, 3 times. Its clearly a problem on your end.
I agree with that assessment.
I can’t view any of the games in Mosaic View. I can view all the games in single game mode but if I try to watch 4 or 6 it will not load and say to try a different quality. Also the player tracker is not actually loading.
I can watch the mosaic view on lowest quality but it will not show games on the middle or high quality.
have it set to lowest quality and it still tells me the quality is set too high…maybe my expectations were also set too high.
I am not receiving any streams. I am currently traveling overseas and Mosaic said it couldn’t verify my location and asked for my credit card info to verify my location. I am concerned about me then being blacked out of watching the Astros tonight (I live in Houston). Customer service explicitly told me before I purchased the subscription that blackouts applied to my physical location, not my billing location. Will I be blacked out of the games I want to watch?
Highest-quality streaming buffers forever and doesn’t come in. Have to go to midstream for a picture, but that doesn’t look very good. So i settle on lowest, which isn’t great on multiple panels, but okay on single screen.
Audio is lagging behind video.
The mosaic is constantly having to rebuffer or movement is real slow. Also have the scoreboard on the upper 3 screens splitting the monitor in half. Any answers would be appreciated.. Thanks

I’m connected via a T-1 and the picture quality is just passable..certainly not TV quality. Also, even with the fast connection…I get a lot of buffering which interrupts the games. Also, is there any way to get sound from one of the 6 mosaic games, while still viewing the others..or are you limited to choosing the game as a stand alone if you want sound?

i feel your pain about the T1 connection, i’m on a 10mbit connection, and the speed is not as advertised, as isaid above, mosaic says i’m getting 600+k, when my bandwidth monitor says i’m getting 250k.
Yes great cable connection here and if I try to stream 6 games at once on the lowest setting I get constant freezes or it does n ot fully buffer at all — all of this on the lowest of the 3 settings.
If todays issues are an indication of what I can expect from my “premium” package. I will be asking for a refund. This service ****** at all levels today. I will await the debugging process but you guys better get it going.
This *****. MLB manages to screw over the fans once again…and for the next 7 years at least. We should all just boycott this sorry league until they start thinking about the people who put the money in their paychecks…THE FANS!!!
I paid before the season opening, but the system always asks for my billing address information and gets an error after I submit the information. I have written the customer service for many many many times but nobody answers me. The season has started for half month but my mlbtv account is never available for any live games on MLBTV. I hope someone can get it done as soon as possible. I will appreciate it very much.
I am having problems getting the streaming video feed to show up on my big screen monitor. I have a VGA cable running from the back of my laptop to the tv/monitor and get everything I see on the laptop except for the streaming video. I have checked all connections, downloaded all the latest plug-ins and media versions. Can anyone help?
Please help! And I’m an old guy (50) so please speak as simply as possible. I have just bought a Vista computer (Phillips LX3000). I can no longer get the 700k games to stream. The sound works, but the pictures are more like a slide show, changing every 10-20 seconds. The 400K works like before. If I disconnect my new computer and hook up my old one, the streaming at 700k works fine. So there must be something with the Visa computer. Other streaming things, like courttv/extra are also not streaming, but Youtube items seem to be. Any ideas? Thanks.
