New Build Available

Hi all,
We just recently posted a new build for today, so if you’re already running the mosaic please close and re-open. Especially if you’re having rebuffering issues on the 4/6 game streams, this should help you significantly. If you have install troubles, id suggest trying a reboot, though this won’t always be the case. This build addresses the changes i mentioned in my post last night we’d be fixing overnight, and should clean a bunch of things up for today.

Btw, for mac users only: if you’re not getting the update, please just redownload the image and drag it over to your application folder.

Thank you all again for your patronage, we’re looking forward to a more successful day for those of you who were having buffering issues. Everyone still struggling with the install, we’ll be working through all of you today.

Thanks,

Justin

    It says that the Cubs Reds game is blacked out for me and I am not in the local market for the Reds. I put in my zipcode and these are the teams that come up as being blacked out for me.

    U.S. postal code “52242” is subject to blackout for the following MLB teams:

    * Chicago Cubs

    * St. Louis Cardinals

    * Minnesota Twins

    * Milwaukee Brewers

    * Chicago White Sox

    * Kansas City Royals

    This is an away game for the Cubs so it should be available for me should it not?

    Guys, even after the updates for today, im still only able to view 6 game view mosiac on all quality levels, and single games still do not work… still getting that network stream error on both quality levels.

  3. grl234@yahoo.com

    Streaming problems on day game.
    Hi Justin,

    there is a *huge* difference between day and night games.

    At night games the streaming and the stability is fantastic but at day games (from 12 to 3 PM ET) the broadcast is interrupted every few seconds because of buffering. it’s also happened on single game from mlb.tv site (sounds like a server problem caused by huge traffic on the net).

  4. cwgraffix@hotmail.com

    And just a very important reminder to hide the “related links” in the webplayer window. It spoiled the SF replay today to know that Bonds, Gonzalez and Greene all homered before I even started watching.

  5. arlenas_dad@hotmail.com

    Hi Justin,

    In the Mosaic view )either 4 or 6 games), only the low quality stream is working. For medium, or high, the % complete for buffering never goes above 4 or 6% before starting to go backwards.

    I have a Dell Pentium 4, 3.0 GHz processor, and a Nvideo 7600 GT 256mb graphics card. My internet speed, clocked by mlb.com speed test, is 4612 kbps (I have a fiber optic internet connection). The 700 k feed for single games works fine.

  6. macgowanj@rogers.com

    Nope. No different. Endless buffering, jerky picture when it clears, and a poor quality picture when it’s stable, which lasts about four seconds. Try again. Day 6 and counting.

  7. macgowanj@rogers.com

    Wait. This just in. After 10 minutes, the 6 panel seems to have stabled. The jerkiness has ceased; it even appears to be in sync audio/video-wise.

  8. bacreaa@yahoo.com

    So with each of these rebuilds, from last night and today, do we need to uninstall and reinstall or do the new builds come through update? Thanks

  9. daryanjr@gmail.com

    @ bacreaa

    I was wondering the same thing. I actually asked that yesterday evening but didn’t get an answer. I’m guessing that it comes through update though because I noticed that my buffering time just increased from seconds to minutes after this most recent update.

  10. cdrutis@gmail.com

    Still getting the stream errors in all modes. I even installed Moasic on another computer with newly installed XP with the same problem, so it’s obviously a connectivity/authentication issue of some sort.

    Please, I asked before with no reply. If this is a problem on MY END that can’t be fixed by the MLB team, let me know so I can cancel before the trial ends.

    This is not a complaint or a “threat” as someone said in the other thread. I really need to know if this is fixable. Thanks.

  11. dylankolatzki@hotmail.com

    well after 4 days mine is finally running, for now. it doesn’t work on the higher end but i’m hoping that after they have gotten every on at least on and working that they will get the streaming at the optimum capacity that we paid for taken care of.

    they are trying hard, i’ll give them that. it shouldn’t of taken 4 days into the season to just get the thing fuctioning at the lowest capacity but it is what it is

  12. crowleyconn@eircom.net

    The picture quality is still awfull. Buffering all the time. On close-ups its fine but when camera pans out it is very blurred.

  13. rsruss@comcast.net

    The first day I tried it everything worked fine. Then yesterday’s build gave me problems with installation and buffering. I tried the single game at 700k (without Mosaic) and it worked fine. I’m using a Vista based laptop, for the most part. I’ll try it tonight and see if things are working better.

  14. hogan_disciple@hotmail.com

    The 700K, single-game stream looks like the 400k stream again. It looked so good last night and today it’s back to looking like garbage.

  15. daryanjr@gmail.com

    @ Justin or Mosaic

    Not to add on to the complaints, but more so to hopefully help out through feedback…

    I was working ok on all quality settings until this latest update. Now it takes several minutes to complete the initial buffering, then I’m rebuffering for about 2 minutes every 30 seconds or so.

  16. mlb_st@yahoo.com

    Everything is working fine now, except that on higher quality streams, everything is way behind. For example, the score under the video showed the game was tied about 10 seconds before the video showed Reds scored.

  17. jwneural@yahoo.com

    No joy. Still only works intermittantly with constant rebuffering, ‘stream error’s, and jerky video in 4 or 6 window display. In single game mode, often can’t connect, many freezes, constant refuffering, but good display when it actually runs for short bursts.

    I don’t understand why this is so difficult for you guys, when I can watch the premium feed of any MLB TV game with ZERO problems. The technology is basically the same. MLB TV Never rebuffers, no stream erros. Only MOSAIC acts like s h i t.

    I have a good machine with strong bandwidth (2209k by your test) and have verified all the required software and hardware.

    Why not just ‘fess up and admit this is just ****?

  18. robertbirmingham@roadrunner.com

    One question,

    Which is better to get

    MLB. TV Premuim or MLB TV?

    is 400K better then 700k ?

    I have sign up for the MLB TV Premuim but I want to know what the differents is with the MLB TV Premium and MLBTV Package?

    Thanks

    Robert

  19. king_arthur72@yahoo.com

    Greg, all those teams games are blacked, including away games. Silly, but its true.

    I’m pleased to report that it seems that the 4/6 feed is finally working without constant rebuffering past 30-45 seconds. Looks like its coming around.

    I’m still skepitical of the 700k feed being labeled “TV quality.” I am not doubting that I am getting 700k, but my monitor and TV are the same aize (19″) and the TV looks significantly better.

    Plus the still image on the mosiac purchase page sure looks a lot clearer than what I’m receiving in my feed.

  20. martin_kopf@gmx.at

    @cdrutis

    I completely agree with you. I’ve got the same problem, and I would like to know whether it’s my (system’s) fault or a bug in Mosaic.

  21. hogan_disciple@hotmail.com

    Robert,

    The 700k stream is definitely a lot better then the 400k. There have been early problems with the 700k stream in Mosaic but you can still access the feed through the browser

  22. shawn+mlb.6868c8@gleemonex.hellyeah.com

    Justin, I’m unable to log into Mosaic, despite purchasing the Premium package. The only message returned is “unable to log in.” I know the password is right, and I reset it just to be sure. Login works fine for other mlb.com properties, and I can watch a single game (700k) via the Media Center page. Thanks.

  23. andress8181@hotmail.com

    well after all updates so far, I Still cant view single games in mosiac, it just says connecting and never changes, black screen no audio. before though it would always give me a network stream error on both settings everytime. so i guess this is a minor improvement.

  24. Justin

    Guys, the swarmcast team is going to get in touch with some of you to take a closer look at any issues introduced today. We have a few ideas for you, and would like to make sure we understand the specifics of each issue.

    Thanks,

    Justin

  25. lbrawer@aol.com

    Hi: Love the idea. One problem is that customer service is absurd-wait too long and not the most helpful. My problem is the Mosaic picture is compacted. Have reinstalled 5 times. Still not right size. dell pc, I believe relevent info on display is 32mb ati; thanks for help Allen

  26. bostoncybersox@yahoo.com

    Every day Justin. Every day this experience gets worse than the day before. You guys should be commended for teaching a master class on poor software launches.

    MLB.tv and Mosaic can’t connect because your servers are too busy.

    I’m one of 10 computers on a T1 line…this isn’t my network, it’s your servers.

    Fix them.

  27. mosaic@website.mlb.com

    You wont need to reinstall the updates are on the fly.

    The video buffering is going to be different for everyone. Remember in most cases the internet is “shared” bandwidth so if your neighbor is downloading lots of files your stream may be affected.

    So far I’m getting great streams with 4 systems all running the Mosaic.

    Sorry for the lateness today I’ve been very busy replying to everyone in email.

  28. mosaic@website.mlb.com

    @ : mlb_st@yahoo.com

    That seems to vary, but we are improving response time in every update. Remember it has to go from the guys fingers who types in game update to a server, from that server to another, and the Mosaic goes out and asks for updates. We dont want to ask to often to slow down the player, but we want to ask often enough that we get updates with in 20 seconds of the play happening. Summary we will fine tune this, but it will vary based on a few different factors.

  29. ggrapman@pacbell.net

    I followed the newest intructions and still get the same error message. I followed your request yesterday to email my settings but got no reply

    I suggest when we get our credit card bills that we dispute the charges as baseball is not providing what was promised. Also it might be misreprtesentation when,before signing up,the system requirements never mentioned swarmcast of the age of our video drivers,

  30. dgmayor@lmalla.com

    Aspect ratio issue. In Mosaic, it’s not keeping the correct aspect ratio of the stream. For example, if I go full screen on today’s Red Sox – Royals game, it fills the screen. If I do it in the web browser, it keeps the proper aspect and has a small black bar across the top and bottom. Last night, on my widescreen monitor, Mosaic was stretching the image, where the web stream in Media Player kept the 4:3 ratio.

  31. voyezvouscela@aol.com

    Hi Justin,

    Jsut to tell you that the Indians / White Sox game is streamed in 16/9 style with black banners at the top and bottom of the screen. If your team could correctly sized the video, that would be fine !

  32. java_cgi_hunter@yahoo.ca

    Are you guys really going to personally help every person with issues. Not sure that is the way I would run things, but to each his own. I have not received my service yet, even though I have post 4 or 5 questions
    My specs are all within parameters suggested.

    Issues..

    Constant buffering. Slow motion on 4/6 screens.

  33. mosaic@website.mlb.com

    @ Posted by: lbrawer@aol.com | April 5, 2007 02:13 PM

    You just identified the problem in your post. You have a 32MB video card which does not meet the minimum requirements because that video card does not support Direct X 9.

    Pop in a DX9 compatible video card and you’ll be good to go.

  34. mosaic@website.mlb.com

    @ shawn+mlb.6868c8@gleemonex.hellyeah.com
    Account issues, billing issues, things of that nature are most likely going to have to go through support. I know I have nothing to do with that aspect of the system.

    @Voyezvouscela

    I believe that’s just how the game is broadcast. But there may be something that can be done, I’m guessing down the road not today.

  35. mosaic@website.mlb.com

    @ ggrapman@pacbell.net
    I looked you up, and found your system does not meet the specs. You have no video card driver installed and only 256 Megs of system memory.

    Did you not get our reply?

  36. hogan_disciple@hotmail.com

    DGMayor,

    I have a widescreen tv and find that watching a game on fullscreen mode fills the screen but does not stretch anything. It’s a 46-inch tv so I would notice stretching. I think they should leave mosaic widescreen. I prefer it to the 4:3 browser player

    Need to correct 700k streams again though. They don’t look nearly as good as yesterday

  37. mosaic@website.mlb.com

    @dgmayor@lmalla.com

    This is true, last year we had requests for TRUE full screen. This year we provided it. No aspect ratio is kept in full screen.

    Perhaps we can address an option to keep aspect ratio in the future. Good suggestion.

  38. andress8181@hotmail.com

    Shane from your customer service was helping me through email, but the last 4 emails I have recieved back from him have no new message and just repeat what i sent him?

  39. dgmayor@lmalla.com

    I sure hope so. I won’t watch stretched video.

    “Hi Justin,

    Jsut to tell you that the Indians / White Sox game is streamed in 16/9 style with black banners at the top and bottom of the screen. If your team could correctly sized the video, that would be fine ! ”

    That comment kills me. It’s the 16:9 HD feed. It SHOULD have black bars if you’re not on widescreen. Sigh ><

  40. justin.chapweske@swarmcast.com

    Hi guys, Justin C. from Swarmcast here. The 4/6 panel is likely one of the highest bitrate live streams on the Internet, so even though the individual videos are small, it still adds up to 1960 Kbps, which is fairly huge.

    Today, only a single source is being used per client. The CDN providers are fast enough that this should be working great for most folks.

    However, for those seeing buffering on the 4/6 panel, can you please perform a speedtest at http://speakeasy.net/speedtest and report your results from a couple of sources?

    If your speed test is reporting a connection higher than about 2000 Kbps, then your issues will likely go away over the next couple of days.

    One of the ways that Swarmcast accelerates your video is to use multiple sources/servers from the CDNs (Content Delivery Networks). This way, even if one of the CDNs is temporarily slow, Swarmcast will automatically compensate for you to keep your video smooth. We’ll be enabling the multiple sources in the next couple of days, which will help everyone to varying degrees, and should have a huge positive impact for those outside of the US.

    For those whose speed test is under 2000 Kbps, or especially under 1200 Kbps, you likely don’t have enough bandwidth to support the application at this time, and I would recommend using the 700 Kbps or single-game streams. We’ll work on creating some more magic for you guys, but at the end of the day, we’re limited by the broadband connection.

  41. hogan_disciple@hotmail.com

    MOSAIC ppl,

    Keep the aspect ration true fullscreen. If people what 4:3 they can use the browser but the way Mosaic is now, it looks fine fullscreen on my widescreen tv with no stretching or warping.

    If I had to go back to a 4:3 picture like the browser, I would be PISSED.

  42. justin.chapweske@swarmcast.com

    Also, the multiple sources should help out those on wifi as well. If you’re on a wifi connection and seeing buffering, you might want to try directly plugging into your Ethernet and see if that helps.

    Thanks,

    -Justin

  43. y2kvidkid@aol.com

    voyezvouscela:

    “Black bars” will happen quite frequently with game that are being broadcast in HD (most of the time on an only HD channel.) They are directly taking the feed that is being broadcast in 16:9, while placing it in a 4:3 “screen.” Sure, theoretically they could crop the picture, but you would be sacrificing quality by doing that.

  44. andress8181@hotmail.com

    /\/\/\/\

    I can get the 6 game view to work, I just cant view single games it just says connecting and the game never comes on, so is this an issue with swarmcast?

  45. dgmayor@lmalla.com

    That’s not “True fullscreen” though. If your source stream is 4:3 and you stretch it wide, then you’re stretching it. If the source is 16:9 like the Indians/White Sox game was yesterday and you full screen that on a widescreen tv/monitor, THATS true full screen.

    As it is, I’ll only watch it via the browser full screen because I don’t want to see the players all distorted due to stretching.

  46. andress8181@hotmail.com

    and as for the speedtest link it says im getting 5173kbps download, it makes no since that i can view 6 game mosiac but not when I click on a single game.

  47. hogan_disciple@hotmail.com

    DGMayor,

    i don’t have any stretching/distortion when watching any game in fullscreen mode through mosaic. Maybe it’s just my tv but I don’t want to hafta see sidebars when everything has looked fine the past four days

  48. mosaic@website.mlb.com

    @ Issues with Blank or same email

    Reply to this email addressas well. I believe there is an issue with our support software right now. we will look into it.

  49. dgmayor@lmalla.com

    If it’s a 4:3 feed and you’re watching on widescreen, you should see bars on the side if the aspect ratio is kept true. Now if YOU want to set your tv/monitor to stretch, thats one thing, but to force it from the software and not give the user the option isn’t good.

  50. rjkhanna@gmail.com

    hogan:

    There is stretching, it is just not that noticeable, not unless you are really looking at it hard (and maybe you are really used to watching standard TV stretched on a widescreen.) Take a look at how huge that lanky KC pitchers head looks when they do a close up on him in the BOS-KC game. But what you say is true…it is BARELY noticeable and if you don?t like it, you can go to the web browser.

    dgmayor:

    I see what you are saying, but it is not like they are forcing you to watch it that way…you have the option to go to the browser and have the aspect ratio preserved. But hey, if they can put the option in mosaic to be able to choose if you want to stretch or not, I am all for it…but lets worry about the more important issues first.

  53. hogan_disciple@hotmail.com

    well, like I said I am watching the Red Sox/Royals in fullscreen on my widescreen right now and it looks fine without stretching so no complaints from me

  54. dgmayor@lmalla.com

    Hogan, if you’re seeing it completely from left to right with no black bars, it’s stretched. You might be used to looking at that, but I assure you it’s not the natural picture.

  55. hogan_disciple@hotmail.com

    i dunno how i could be used to looking at a stretched picture cause I’ve seen them before and they are not pretty. That said, I don’t see any stretching now. If there is, it’s very minor to me. What kind of monitor do you have?

  56. dgmayor@lmalla.com

    right now I’m watching on a standard dell 17″ (4:3)at work. There is slight stretching at the top and bottom, so I’m using the Web feed.

    Last night I was on my dell 20″ Widescreen (16:10), and it was horrendous, so I never went to full screen.

    Widescreen monitors are generally 16:10, where as HD/widescreen TV’s are 16:9, so there’s more of a chance of black bars top and bottom on a monitor than a TV, but it still depends on the feed.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Widescreen

    There’s a good write up of the differences.

  57. dgmayor@lmalla.com

    Hogan,

    I’ve had some stutters on the web 700k feed, but it hasn’t dropped at all. I really believe that the swarmcast software needs some more work/tweaks.

  58. hogan_disciple@hotmail.com

    I never had any stuttering with the 700k feed but today I noticed the 700k feed in Mosaic didn’t look nearly as good as it looked last night. Now I can’t access the 700k feed for single-game viewing. my first real problems so far

  59. dgmayor@lmalla.com

    My luck with Mosaic has been up and down. Sometimes its great, sometimes it’s continually stopping to buffer, sometimes I can’t get anything, etc. As someone else stated earlier, it seems that the feed are actually better at night than during the day. Maybe there are too many of us slackers trying to watch games at work šŸ˜‰

  60. shawn+mlb.6868c8@gleemonex.hellyeah.com

    Justin, thanks for the reply. I wasn’t sure if there might be some input/communication error between the client and the back end.

  61. hogan_disciple@hotmail.com

    Well, the 700k wasn’t down long. It is back and appears to be better quality then earlier today. Back to being on par with last night

  62. wampus_ssu@hotmail.com

    I still can’t get the single game view in Mosaic to say anything besides stream error, but the 6 game view works okay. I keep trying to get the single game open straight from mlb.com, but I just get a black screen. This worked fine on Monday on my laptop, and still works on my work computer, but after installing Mosaic (and Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0) I have been unable to pull up the single game on my laptop. Any idea what could cause this or how to fix it?

  63. mousefool1@mac.com

    I am not placing the blame on any one person or group (be it the developers or managers or both), but we are absolutely beta testing your program right now. We should not have to pay for an unfinished and very buggy program. Someone needs to realize this and make up for it, whether that means a credit to our accounts, coupons for next year, or complimentary playoff access. It was inexcusable to release this program in its original state (though it is slowly getting better). MLB needs to take notice of how many fans it has upset by its failure to reliably deliver the promised content.

    As far as feature requests, I would like to see the Alerts be optional or completely removed, especially in the 4- or 6- screen view. I would also like to see the boxscore stabilized/fixed when watching a single screen. I would like to see the inning number on the list of games in progress at the top of the screen. These are basic requests that should have been dealt with long before the season started. Everybody is still waiting for those 2 extra views that seem most useful but are “coming soon”.

    Buffering and stream errors are infuriating, but seem to be getting better. There is still work to do on this. Also, when watching a game while doing other work on my computer, Mosaic stops my stream, tells me I have been idle, and allows me to click to restart the video. Please allow me to indicate I am still watching BEFORE stopping my stream. I think this is an appopriate solution.

  64. annenhartley@yahoo.com

    I am having the same problems as “andress8181@hotmail.com”. I can view the 4/6 game views but not the single game view in Mosaic. It either says “Connecting” or “Stream Error”. My speed is over 2000 kbps.

  66. mosaic@website.mlb.com

    to view the task manger:
    -Right click on the task bar (bar to the right of the start button)

    -Select Task Manager

    -Click on the Process tab

    -Resize the box so I can see all running processes

    -select ALT + PRINT SCREEN

    -Open a new email to me

    -Select “Paste” into the email

    That should paste the screen shot in the email.

    Thanks

    Hello, My situation has not improved. Still see stream error whenever I try to connect in any mode…is there something I’m missing??

  69. csherwood@comcast.net

    The video for me is fine with no more constant buffering in mid-quality and high quality modes. However, the audio is all fragmented. help?

  70. andress8181@hotmail.com

    well its obviously a program interfering with mosiac, because i installed it on my dads computer which is the same model pc, with half the memory I have in mine, and half the meg’s video card, and running windows xp,(im running vista premium 32-bit) and it worked fine. Shane I sent you the .doc attachment with the screenshot of my taskmananger, hopefully we can get this figured out.

  71. basombound@hotmail.com

    My local team’s game was blacked out, of course, but now, hours after the game’s completion it still says it’s blacked out. I thought I could watch it in archive mode in 5 minutes increments, then after 6 am watch it in one go. I would just watch it through MLB.TV rather than the Mosaic, but the MLB.TV player doesn’t work properly on my Mac. The player for some reason is black where the option to see the linescore and fullscreen buttons should be. I don’t want to see my favorite team’s archived games on a tiny screen with my nose six inches from the screen, I had hoped to get it fullscreen through Mosaic. Is an indefinate blackout part of the plan, or something that will be remedied after you solve some of the more pressing issues?

  72. rab@thepopitude.com

    I am having a problem with the Player Tracker. A few of my players how up, but most of them don’t show a picture, name, or position, it only shows the Diamondbacks logo, even though I don’t even have any D-Back players on there.

  73. scottl76767@yahoo.com

    I am still having buffering problems on the 6 screen view in the middle quality. The only thing running is the baseball channel. Do I need to restart the Mosaic after the initial start up downloaded the updates or do they take effect immediately?

  74. Justin

    rab – it sounds like you still have an old version of the client. have you left it open for a while? thats a bug that was resolved this morning. See the most recent posting i’m adding in just a minute regarding the self-updater.

  75. rene144@hotmail.com

    Justin, we’ve got a problem here. So far, my “only” issue was stuttering video in single games in the mosaic (not on the website).
    Now it downloaded an update, and I’ve lost audio completely, plus I’m still getting the stuttering video. What’s going on?

  76. rab@thepopitude.com

    Justin – No, when I restarted Mosaic it said that there were no updates available. The first seven player show up fine, but when I scroll down to the next seven is when it shows the error.

    I am getting the video mixing renderer capabilities (VMR9) capabilities are required.

    Mosaic loads fine and the player tracker works, but I am not able to view any games–the screens are all blank and there is no audio either.

    I have a Compaq Presario with Windows XP

    2.08 AMD GHz processor

    512 mb RAM

    video RAM 64.0 MB

    DirectX 9.0c

    The video card is a VIA/SG3 UniChrome IGP.

    I uninstalled and re-installed today with no change.

    Please advise. Thanks.

  78. appetiteforillusions@hotmail.co.uk

    Well, I done a fair bit of moaning on Monday, so it only seems fair that I congratulate you guys! Watching the Yankees game (even though I’m a cards fan :D) on Mosaic in Full Screen Mode, and it truley does look TV quality! Fantastic!

  79. andress8181@hotmail.com

    I’ve been going back and forth with shane in emails the past 3 hours and still cant get single view games to work. I even unistalled norton 360 completely from my cpu and still I cant get it to work. Im starting to think in my case this is a lost cause.

  80. rene144@hotmail.com

    Ok, I’ve been writing since April 2nd and I got no help at all. In fact, things got worse with the various updates the mosaic downloads from internet.

    When are we getting our wasted money back? I realize that you, as developers, are doing all you can, but MLB.com must also realize that we’re just not getting what we paid for, not even close.

  81. mosaic@website.mlb.com

    @andress

    I’ve sent you an e-mail with a link to an updated Vista driver for your video card. Let me know if you have not received it.

    – Adrian

  82. mosaic@website.mlb.com

    @rene144

    I’m sorry we have not addressed your issue yet. I will send you an e-mail right now.

    – Adrian

  83. Justin

    yeah, rab, the issue (which we fixed in a release this morning, which is why this seems bizarre, as the self updater has been working reasonably well from waht we’ve seen) is that one of your players doesnt have a photo, which was causing a bug related to showing the rest of your guys. we’re working on the selfupdater and hope to have some resolution for this tomorrow.

  84. pridebaseball2002@yahoo.com

    It’s working great for me right now, and am glad I got this. But i just have one question…when is the 3 quality levels going to be avaliable in single game viewing? Also, when is the other 2 views going to be avalible? it says [coming soon] but i dont know how soon that is. Thanks a lot for your help and its been fine lately.

  85. andress8181@hotmail.com

    Adrian, yes i received your email, but I also got that email with the link to the driver update, and I already have it installed on my cpu, when I went to install it, it said files are already on PC, I installed it anyway and it didnt fix my problem.

  86. mkorcy@gmail.com

    Things are definitely better here then they’ve been in terms of audio/video. I still have 1 lingering issue. After a few minutes on a particular game using the 1 game view (that’s all i really use) the audio starts to stutter. It doesn’t matter if I’m using the 400k or the 700k stream it does it either way. It also doesn’t matter if its in fullscreen or not.

  87. mewing@gmail.com

    I will repost the same issue I posted yesterday, as I am having the exact same problem:

    All 3 Mosaic streams offer what is essentially a slide show, with individual video frames updating approximately once every ten seconds.

    Attempting to view a single game at 700k gives the same slideshow problem, though accessing the exact same stream directly through the MLB.com site works perfectly.

    I am running a Pentium 4 3.0GHz, XP Media Canter, 1 GB RAM, 256MB Nvidia 7600GS with the latest driver (93.71), DX9.0c, onboard Realtek HD sound, Windows Media Player 11, and a cable modem with 3.0 Mbps (the MLB provided speed test rates it at 4196 kbps). Any assistance would be appreciated.

  88. kennethkrupp@yahoo.com

    I also cannot get single game video/audio in mosaic. It just says connecting. The 6 game display works but only on the lowest video quality, a terrible display. Mosaic worked better for me 2 nights ago. I didn’t have these issues then, and I had a much better video stream then. So these updates certainly aren’t helping me.

  89. pat@thepirtles.com

    When I’m watching the 6 screen Mosaic, my audio sounds “tinny”. Understandable, but not clear. But if I switch to the single game only, the audio is perfect. It would be nice if the audio quality would be the same.

  90. larryrocket@yahoo.com

    I am getting the video mixing renderer capabilities (VMR9) capabilities are required.

    Mosaic loads fine and the player tracker works, but I am not able to view any games–the screens are all blank and there is no audio either.

    I have 64mb video memory and dx9 installed. Any help please? I’ve tried the troubleshooting tip w/ the display settings and my accelerator is all the way to the right.

  91. rmcc4444@gmail.com

    @pat

    thats normal. there is only so much data they can fit down the pipe so they are sending lower quality audio so at least you’ll have audio.

    i know they said they are working on improving this.

  92. rmcc4444@gmail.com

    @mlb

    i have had more issues today than normal with mosaic. watching a single game is flawless, however in the 4 game mosaic mode every so often the audio and video will get out of sync or the video will start playing in slow motion, then play at double speed as it catches up.

    i have had 0 problems playing the video from the web. i’m willing to stick around while this gets figured out because i love the potential in the product as long as you guys keep the communication lines open.

    thanks..

  93. rmcc4444@gmail.com

    @kennethkrupp

    i seem to be in the same boat as you. mine was working overall much better a couple days ago. single games are near flawless but the multi game mosaic is buffering and playing in slow motion more.

  94. thomas843@sc.rr.com

    Well, this is worse than it was last night, nothing but buffering on the 6/4 screen every 5 seconds, whatever you guys did it made it worse for me, last night was great.

  95. rmcc4444@gmail.com

    @mlb

    i often travel. will i be able to watch a game that is blacked out according to my billing address even if im out of the country or in a different state?

    thanks..

  96. rmcc4444@gmail.com

    @thomas

    is the single game stream working ok for you? i am having similar problems with the 4/6 mosaic, but the single game stream is solid.

  97. michael.kallstrom@wku.edu

    I can watch the Oakland/Angels game in single game mode, but am getting nothing but a blue screen in 6 or 4 game mode.

  98. csherwood@comcast.net

    @rmcc
    I am having the same audio not synching right problem as you, both in the 4/6 view as well as the single game at high quality. I have been posting about this for a couple days now and sent in an email. At least I would like to see someone acknowledge the problem and tell us they are working on fixing it – so far it appears they are completely ignoring this issue.

  99. rmcc4444@gmail.com

    @micahel.kallstrom

    blue or black screens?

    if its blue, does it have the mlb.tv logo?

    if not, are the “tv’s” just blank blank screens?

  100. daryanjr@gmail.com

    @ rmcc4444

    Just a blue screen with the MLB.TV logo for the OAK vs. LAA game for me. Works fine in single game though.

  101. dakoda_@hotmail.com

    I gave up on Mosaic a couple nights ago and now tonight single games are freezing, jumping around, and buffering . . . unwatchable!

    Come on guys, this is getting worse, not better. Ridiculous!

  102. earldunning@hotmail.com

    I just got done watching the yankee game on 700K via the normal media player through mlb. I had 3-4 quick rebuffers in the almost 4 hours.
    I then restarted to clear everything for a fair test.

    I tried the mosaic on the Angels game (single game). The 400 stream works well. The 700 stream rebuffers about every 3 seconds and after just 20 seconds its not watchable.

  103. rmcc4444@gmail.com

    @michael.kallstrom

    are you sure the game you are trying to watch isn’t blacked out in your area?

    are you getting any sound?

    try dragging baseballchannel.tv onto one of your screens and see if that “jumpstarts” mosaic.

  104. csherwood@comcast.net

    @earldunning
    Agreed. The normal media player is working great. The best I can get from Mosaic is barely watchable video with tinny, garbage audio or decent video with un-synched skipping audio. They need to clean up the audio feeds.

  105. rmcc4444@gmail.com

    @cshwerwood

    my problems have been worse tonight w/ the 4/6 mosaic but they have been sporadic. yesterday it seemed everything was golden.

  106. rmcc4444@gmail.com

    also, the 700k quality seemed to be the same as on the web last night. tonight, the best quality in mosaic seems to be somewhere in between 400k and 700k

  107. michael.kallstrom@wku.edu

    @rmcc4444

    Defintely not a black out situation.

    No sound.

    Tried your suggestion, and re-starting the program, and switching between higher and lower modes of resolution. No go.

    The Giants game is playing just fine in all modes but not the Oakland game.

  108. daryanjr@gmail.com

    @rmcc4444

    I tried what you suggested but it doesn’t make a difference. Other games are fine, and it’s not blacked out. It’s even showing the score and inning below the screen. It just isn’t receiving the video feed for some reason.

  109. rmcc4444@gmail.com

    @michael and daryanjr

    i just realized i am having the same problem as you guys. i thought you meant you werent able to get any of the games in 4/6 mode.

    no matter what i do, the angels/oakland game stays on the blue MLB.TV screen with no sound.

    i just opened it in single mode and i have the 4 floating TVs overlaying the game.

    restarting mosaic got rid of the overlaying tv’s but i still cant see it in 4/6 mode.

    strange..

  110. photo@bgu.ac.il

    I have been a customer of MLB.TV products for a few years. Unfortunately, it often seems as if MLB.COM takes it’s customers for granted. For years now, customer support has been so bad – that I don’t even try calling anymore. Being put on hold for upwards of an hour (and paying long-distance rates as the call is not toll-free from overseas) is not a pleasant experience.
    I appreciate that this blog is trying to address various problems but that just proves that MLB.TV is aware that they released a faulty product.

    Why didn’t you guys release Mosaic during spring training and solve all the problems before the season actually started?

    It is almost as if this is a Beta release that is being tweaked in real time. Normally, beta releases are FREE. In this case, I paid $120…so I would expect to get a fully functioning release before the season started.

  111. andy@thesportsjournal.com

    Anyone who has ever been involved in the development of something like this knows there will always be issues initially. As far as I can tell those have almost been cleared up now. I, personally speaking, have experienced no issues except for the player tracker one. In situations like this it isn’t guarenteed that the product will work perfectly on your system – there are millions of differnet configurations of graphics cards, processors, Ram capacity, etc… it’s impossible for something like this to be guarenteed to work on every system. Likewise, how can you test it to see if it can cope with the capacity of people using it – nothing prepares you for having hundreds or thousands of people logging on.

    I hate to say this but some of you demanding your cash back one week into the season might do better trying to figure out if your PC, connection speed and processor are capable of handling this product.

    Milestone madness is made for MLB.TV, where you can toggle from one simultaneous game to another — and the fun is just out of hand with Mosaic (part of the MLB.TV Premium service), according to those who have been spending all week drag-and-dropping thumbs of in-progress games into the main screen area so that it switches to the other feed right in front of your eyes.

  115. jwneural@yahoo.com

    Andy,

    Your attitude that we should all just bear the pain of untested and buggy software is just wrong.

    Companies have an ethical and financial obligation to ensure (ahead of time) that their products will work for the target market to whom they choose to sell. MLB has failed in the contract they made with us to deliver the MOSAIC service. It does NOT work in applications that meet the system requirements MLB established.

    MLB’s product launch process is a sick joke. We should not pay to be beta testers of badly developed software. To say that MLB couldn’t have anticipated these problems is foolish. The very same problems existed last year with this product. MLB had many months to fix the bugs and test the product. MLB obviously chose not to make this investment. Instead it placed the heavy burden of solving the problems on backs of its paying customers.

    We have paid a premium price for a service that is not being delivered with any reasonble level of quality and seems to have little chance of success.

    I have spent the last 30 years in product managment, marketing, and sales of mission-critical advanced sofware to industry. Had my compnay ever put its customers through this painful experience, we would have been hung, sued, and eventually bankrupt.

    MLB, because it is a monopoly, apparantly gets a free pass.

    That’s wrong and shameful.

    Season’s start brings exciting new ways to watch the action TAKEN FROM YOUR AD TODAY………..WHAT ****

  119. mosaic@website.mlb.com

    @ andress8181@hotmail.com
    We know that it is not a issue with the Mosaic as you tried it on your Dad’s computer and it worked fine. There is something on your system that is unique preventing single game viewing. I am willing to work with you, but unless I am sitting at your computer it is hard to figure out what you have on your computer that is preventing the Mosaic from working.

    @ Andy

    Thank you for bringing a new perspective to the Blog. More than half of the issues have been people trying to use the Mosaic on systems that do not meed the minimum specs.

    @Eaze

    No your video card does not meet the minimum specs. We found that out after one email to us.

    @photo@bgu.ac.il

    The numbers tell us that most users are not having no issues with the Mosaic itself. We are working every day to increase that number via support.

    @jwneural@yahoo.com

    There are a few and I stress few issues that have come up on users systems that are ‘bugs’. The majority of issues you see posted here are users with out dated video cards, or video drivers from three years ago. In most cases a video driver update fixes the problem. In some cases a new video card is needed. In rare cases there is a problem with the Mosaic software.

    Finish the install. Run the MLB.TV Mosaic via the Icon on the desktop, RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR Since your on Vista.

    You can also Right Click on the Icon on the desktop, select properties, advanced, and check the box to “Run As Administrator” Vista requires you to run as administrator.

    What is the version of DirectX that we should have on our machines for MOSAIC to work?

    I have 9.0c. Is this correct?

    It is (according to Microsoft) the latest version.

  123. java_cgi_hunter@yahoo.ca

    Installed the latest driver and it seemed to help a little with the 4/6 screen. Will wait for the games tonight for more testing.
    I did find that in the single game view while watching an archive. The picture would badly buffer until I went full screen. Then it would FF video until it caught up with audio.

    Any idea on when the “coming soon” views will be ready. The 4/6 views really do nothing for me.

  124. twags012@hotmail.com

    I had unchecked that box when I installed. Will i still get this error if just open via desktop and not go through that adminstrator stuff? ALso my biggest problem prior to yesterday was that I was not getting any single game viewing. I was getting 4 and 6 game viiew, but getting a unable to connect error on single game views I tried the 2 viewing qualities but still got the error. What can I do about this.

  125. jwneural@yahoo.com

    @mosaic

    My system exceeds your specficiations. The sofware is all up to date. I have more than enough bandwidth as tested to your instructions.

    According to your support emails to me, my MOSAIC should work fine.

    It does not.

    You are apparently mystified as support has gone dark and I’ve received no more suggestions on how to fix it.

    My experience is not unique. Many, many others share the same problems. Please don’t try to cover up your poor product performance with obfuscation about satisfied users.

    I challenge you to publish a talley of users who have said they are actually satisfied with MOSAIC and those whose product does not work.

  126. andrew@ksu.edu

    I have asked repeatedly for help with the Mosaic app for Mac via email and on the blog. My problem is simple, I CAN NOT stream any content in mosaic’s larger window. I have replaced the old app with the new one multiple times (including this morning 4/6 at 8am PST.

    I have OSX 10.4.9, Quicktime 7.1.5, and the latest Flip4Mac. I am using Cox Cable 7MB internet and the bandwidth test says 4843kbps. I am using a wireless router.

    When i drag or click on a game archive to play it fullscreen, the status in the upper right says, Connecting >> Buffering >> Stream Error, Can not connect. And Please try a different quality.

    I able able to play both the 400 and 700 streams, although sometimes I get stuck on a game recap loop that is aired prior to the game, ie, it just plays the first 2min of the archive over and over.

    PLEASE HELP ME, I really want to watch the World Champion Cardinals win their first game tonight šŸ™‚

  127. mosaic@website.mlb.com

    @jwneural@yahoo.com
    Yes Direct X 9.0c is required to be installed. Your video card must also support Direct X 9. That is the key feature that people have missed.

    @twags012@hotmail.com

    I’m still working on that issue. I can always get single game streams, but there are a few people who cant. It seems to be specific to the computer, and not the Mosaic. Which makes it hard to narrow down. I’ll continue to look into this today.

    @andrew@ksu.edu

    You cant view video in the Mosaic view? but you can in single game? What are the hardware specs on your Mac?

  128. andress8181@hotmail.com

    4/6 screen still is in slow motion. with audio cutting in and out. That is when I can get to it without a “All MLB games are refreshing” box constantly popping up.

    1 screen works well except every few minutes the audio and video go out of sync, then the video tries to catch up.

    Another request. Most of us have big screen tv’s now. It would be nice not to have a big MLB.TV burned in to them from your commercials.

    Mosaic was in much better shape yesterday than previously. Very few buffering problems and the 6,4 and single game screens were working until the late games when I could not get the Oakland game in 6 or 4. Thanks for the improvements. Is an update scheduled for today?

    I was informed a new setup file will be rolled out very soon that should fix the few Vista install issues some people have seen.

    I just tested it and it worked great. One thing to note is that you MUST have a sound card installed and enabled for the Mosaic to function. Some users do not have Vista supported drivers yet and that has been a problem.

    Well, this is odd. I can see the Boston game in the 6 or 4 game screen at high rate (with some audio dropout) or the low rate but not at the middle setting! At the middle setting it just keeps trying to buffer endlessly. All is well in single game mode.

    I just sent you an email with a couple of steps I would like you to perform on your Mac. Let me know how that goes, so that I can continue to assist if necessary.

    Are we going to get 1.5 quality for single games? THis is the only reason I got premium. I get 3 bars for 4 and 6 game views but only 2 bars for single games.
