Install Issues
Hi all,
In an effort to respond more quickly, we’ll be addressing Install issues in this one thread. For those of you still having install issues, please post a comment in this thread that includes:
Operating system and the error you’re receiving, as verbosely as you’re able.
We’ll be responding in the comments section and getting in touch via email with some of you directly.
Thanks,
Justin
I am having a problem with the video. it continues to pause every second then jumps to the current live feed. I am on windows XP, T-1 connection and streaming the 400K single game view. I can stream the game continuously and with no problems from the web.
i’m running this on a mac OS 10.4.9. here’s the problem: i downloaded the app and installed it (and put it in my application folder). the first time i opened it, it worked (i got the message telling me mosaic was down–at least it asked for my sign-on info and everything worked normally). but now every time i open the mosaic app it tells me it is “checking for updates.” it inevitably finds one and installs it. then nothing happens–app never launches. if i then quit out and relaunch it, i get an error message telling me it can’t open mosaic because it might be incomplete or damaged. i’ve thrown it out and reinstalled it, and the same thing happens every time. (if i hit “cancel” when it’s searching for updates, it stops and then nothing happens–the app doesn’t launch.) thanks
mb
my error says that its unable to initialize application….then it says to update directx drivers…and i have downloaded it several times now… then it says exception:Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component
what do i do???
Consalvoa, Ctrl+ALT+DELETE and close the MLB_whatever. Then make sure the orange and blue swarm cast logo in the taskbar is exited.
Player installs but will not launch:
Error: Unable to initialize application
“It could be that you need to update your DirectX drivers. If this error persists, please report the following error message to customer support.
Exception: Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {2A7F1E4B-1724-487C-9419-F24F01CAA644} failed due to the following error: 80040154.”
Operating system: Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit
hello. well today it at least launches the mosaic which is more than yesterday. i am running a brand new acer laptop with windows vista home premium.
it keeps coming up unable to connect. network stream error. try a different quality level.
i am on the lowest quality level with only one game on.
+2 points for using verbosely in a sentence correctly.
ok still cannot pass from the “address verification” pop-up. It says “there was an error verifying your card, please check your card information and try again”
……
well of course it cannot verify any information because I didn’t type anything on that stupid screen. I did it already many times and got same error message.
Any suggestion Mr. Justin?
This is the 3rd computer I install Mosaic. This is a Dell Optiplex GX620. P4. 3.40GHz, 1GB RAM.. if that helps
Also getting a directx error as follows: “It could be that you need to update your DirectX Drivers. If this error persists please report the following message to customer support. Exception: Exception from HRESULT 0X88760886C.”
Have downloaded most current DirectX drivers from microsoft.com. Also tried it on my laptop and got exactly the same error message.
Could not get through to customer service…hang in there Justin!!!!
i’d much rather be watching the games on demand cable than go through this hassle. baseball really cares for it’s fans.
that didnt work either…so im still stuck
Looks like mosaic doesn’t support 64 bit vista, that could be my problem

Can not get Mosiac to install on any machine I try. One machine gives the following message after reaching 94% update status and the other computer only gives the following message:

I have tried with firewall on and off and still can get no further. Mosaic will not install.
stephenlcase@gmail.com
That is a firewall issue. Unable to connect to the remote server and Operation Timed out means you have a firewall blocking it.
Firewall on or off can make no difference. You need to configure the firewall to allow it to pass.
i am having the same exact problems as this post… running the same OS as well…

I did setup the firewall to allow the programs to pass but I still get the same error.
Getting this error message…
“Also getting a directx error as follows: “It could be that you need to update your DirectX Drivers. If this error persists please report the following message to customer support. Exception: Exception from HRESULT 0X8876086C.”
As I have read others have done, I have downloaded the most current DirectX and still nothing.
My system is completely up to date as far as drivers go. Something is amiss. Please help.
receiving same error message as lomberge@hotmail.com, above. i also have updated the drivers and still am receiving the same message.
Yesterday I was able to open and use the mosaic, but today, when I open the program, a message show up saying that is a problem with my firewall, even when my firewall is turned off.
the error info is: The type initializaer for ‘Microsoft.ApplicationBlocks.Updater.RegistryManager’threw an exception’
I didnīt make any modification in my system today, but unlike yesterday, today, I canīt acess the MLB mosaic.
i travel frequently for work. my billing address is in the astros market.
does this mean when im in new york and i login using an ip address in new york i wont be able to watch the astros because of my billing address?
please clarify….
I have emailed support and posted this but still haven’t received a response. Here it is again.
I’m having a weird problem. I haven’t been able to download Mosaic because every time I click on the link it’s dead. I tried downloading in firefox and IE. Seeing that no one else was having this problem I thought it was just my computuer. So I tried setting up a proxy in firefox and the download worked. However, after installing Mosaic, the program tells me it cannot connect to the remote server because my firewall is blocking it. I’ve disabled my firewall, and still get the same message. I also configured my firewall to allow mosaic access but it still doesn’t work. Usually my firewall will initially notify me if a program is trying to access the internet and I received no such response. I do not believe it has anything to do with the firewall because of the reasons listed above. Any ideas as to what’s going on? Also, streaming single games works absolutely fine for me. I am running WinXP Pro SP2 and directly connect via a cable modem. I use PC-cillin 06 for my firewall/antivirus
I have installed Mosaic and it updated properly. Downloaded 100% and installed. Mosaic launches, asks for username/password (inserted) and then displays the “Loading” . It starts (shows all the detail) and displays the ad for this blog on top of all the detail. NOTHING HAPPENS WHEN PRESSING THE “OK” ON THE BLOG MESSAGE. The player line on the bottom updates and scrolls, but the blog message stays on the screen.
Any ideas ???????
I continue to have the failure to initialize problem:
“The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click OK to terminate the application.”
I’m running Windows XP Professional x64 Edition.
Since I am behind a proxy at work, Mosaic doesn’t request proxy auth, which renders Mosaic useless for me.
i’m running this on a mac OS 10.4.9. here’s the problem: i downloaded the app and installed it (and put it in my application folder). the first time i opened it, it worked (i got the message telling me mosaic was down–at least it asked for my sign-on info and everything worked normally). but now every time i open the mosaic app it tells me it is “checking for updates.” it inevitably finds one and installs it. then nothing happens–app never launches. if i then quit out and relaunch it, i get an error message telling me it can’t open mosaic because it might be incomplete or damaged. i’ve thrown it out and reinstalled it, and the same thing happens every time. (if i hit “cancel” when it’s searching for updates, it stops and then nothing happens–the app doesn’t launch.) thanks
I have the same problem as he does. please help. The temperary fix I have found is to delete it completely then re-install it. It works until it checks for new updates.
I am unable to download the Mosaic application. I’ve been getting the error message “Error reading setup initiation file” since yesterday. Has anyone figured this one out?
I forgot to mention I am running Windows XP. Any help is appreciated.
I’m running on windowsXPhome and I get a “runtime error!” in a Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Window… It lists this also:
Program: C:\Program Files\MLB TV Mosiac\MLBAppStart.exe
Then it states “This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the applications support team for more information. Help!
I cannot get onto mosaic. I get a “network is temporarily unavailable. Try again later” message. This has happened every time I have tried. I am running Internet Explorer on Windows XP.
I keep getting this message after install:
“MLBAppStart.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.”
I have Windows XP Media Center Edition, Service Pack 2. I have tried numerous times uninstalling and reinstalling the program, but the same error message occurs each time after the installation completes. Please help. Thanks.
After downloading, then attempting to install, the installation stops and says Error 1327/Invalid Drive:E. Any clue what that means?
Though I click on the 700 feed, I get the 400 quality feed. In addition, I randomly get a completely black screen with audio still playing. PLEASE HELP.
Well the second day of games and the second day I’m not able to access MLB Mosaic which is why I bought MLB.TV. Now I’m getting the message “unable to verify blackout restrictions, try again later” but I saw the same game on regular mlb.tv???? any ideas??
hi , whats happen with the ny mets-stl cardinals game tonigh? the screen is not full and i have a small image and pixel also.
also delete your ping pong ball between the inning is very very bad,tom pettys music is better than better
excuse me for my english i am a franch canadian
Hi,
I am getting this message also-
I’m also getting a directx error as follows: “It could be that you need to update your DirectX Drivers. If this error persists please report the following message to customer support. Exception” Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component.”
I have downloaded the most current DirectX and still get that message.
When I download the setup file and then try to run it I get an error message that says “there is an error in the setup file”
Installed Mosaic. All video appears to be working properly. No audio at all in 6 screen mode. When I double click a game and then am brought to a single “tv” screen of that game, I have full audio. But when I go back to the 6 pack screen, again no audio on any screen selected.
Please suggest a course of action. P.S. I opened up another program concurrently and the audio works fine.
I’m having the same problem as a lot of people…
Error: Unable to initialize application
“It could be that you need to update your DirectX drivers. If this error persists, please report the following error message to customer support.
Exception: Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {2A7F1E4B-1724-487C-9419-F24F01CAA644} failed due to the following error: 80040154.”
I’ve gone to Microsoft and downloaded the most recent version. ** Sigh **
any chance the issues raised here will be addressed?
I can’t believe there are no instructions on how to start Mosaic after you download it. How in the **** does this work?
Also, how is this supposed to help? I was on hold for 45 minutes today with this 800 number and none ever picked up!! This is a nightmare. Where does one go for answers? Who does someone help me?
I’m getting the same “directx” install error as others. I paid $120 for this, where’s the support????
“After downloading, then attempting to install, the installation stops and says Error 1327/Invalid Drive:E. Any clue what that means?”
same issue as 8:08 pm commenter stated above, but mine refers to G drive. please help.
Hello…I’ll try to make some sense…When I get into mosaic..it seems like everything is pushed up a bit on the screen, for example..the bottom line that has the teams that are playing is on top of my bottom 3 screens..the top line that has the teams that are playing is in the middle of my top 3 screens(blocking view, in full screen as well)…another example…if I click and drag a game into a screen, I have to click a bit under where the button actually is…this I have to do for anything that I click on….”pushed up?” hope this made some sense, and hope you have an answer…I meet all the system requirements, I have cox cable, windows xp..phoenix az….thanks guys!
p.s….i uninstalled and installed again but no change?
I accept that there can be problems with a new product but it seems like I have to be a computer expert to fix it-when I buy a TV I don’t expect to have to take the back off and get my screwdriver out! The system should be devised to work on the average computer that the average person can understand.I’m just glad that the dollar/pound exchange rate is so good (for me)!
Hi,
I’m using MAC OS X version 10.4.9 & after installing the Mosaic, everything looked promising. However, after completing the personal details form, I was returned to it, but not told which fields had problems. I live in Australia, so I won’t have any local blackout restrictions. This process of returning to the details form was stuck in a loop, so I didn’t try again unti lthe next day ( I also mailed the suggested help address, but haven’t received any reply – it would seem the apllication has had many problems & answering each person would be virtually impossible. However, now when I attempt to launch the application I receive a message advising “checking for updates”, but when this completes, the Mosaic title screen doesn’t appear. Please help.
regards,
Chris
HI ALL,WHERE IS THE RESPONSE IN THIS BLOG THAT ANSWERS THESE QUESTIONS? MY MOSAIC DOESN’T WORK BUT I THINK I KNOW THE ANSWER…..GET A REFUND
I install, but then get a message that says: System.BadImageFormatException: Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {2A7F1E4B-1724-487C-9419-F24F01CAA644} failed due to the following error: 800703e6.

I’m using Windows XP on a laptop PC.
I am really looking forward to using Mosaic and am disappointed–and surprised-by all of these bugs being reported.
Thanks, David
I am getting the same directX error message. I downloaded the latest version and have all the software. I am reading the horror stories on the video quality elsewhere in this blog and I am very discouraged. The demo versions of both mosaic and the 700k video were crystal clear, yet the actual 700k video on live games leaves something to be desired by comparison. To say nothing of what Mosaic is going to look like. This is something that needs to be looked into by whatever organizations look into these things. This cannot continue. An absolute disgrace. I hate MLB more than ever. I will usually go to two or three games a year but I don’t see myself going to any this year. This is a slap in the face to all of us who try our best to be dedicated fans, only basically to be told by MLB “we don’t give a **** about you.”
I have the identical issue as eaze@bellsouth.net. I updated my DirectX, restarted by computer, tried it with my firewall off… no dice. Please advise. Do we get a partial refund for each day missed?
I’m running Windows XP SP2. I downloaded and installed Mosaic from an admin account and then attempted to use it from an account with limited access. When I launch Mosaic, I get the error message
“Couldn’t read TVScript Application from C:\Program Files\MLB TV Mosaic\TVScriptApp\mlb_broadband_ondemand_2007.qcb:
Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component.”
If I change the account type to an admin account, Mosaic works fine. Given all the fuss about XP security, I prefer my kids to use an account with limited access.
Thanks for your help.
jeff – I’m still having the same problem, but I can’t seem to reach anyone who can help me out on what to do. I will try to sit down and figure it out when I get home from work. If I find out I will post how to fix it. GOOD LUCK!!!!
I still have the directx error. We were told there was a new download on the site at 13.3 MB I believe. Yet the download still says 12.7 MB, and it still does not work. No help either. If someone does figure out a solution, please post! Thanks.
Hi bar11247,
We’ve sent you an e-mail, please reply to it with the requested information so we can determine your issue.
I have the mosiac open on my work pc (don’t tell), however when the window opens up the mosiac is only being played on the top half and the bottom half of the window is completely black?
Hi,
I#ve got the same DirectX error and the “System.BadImageFormatException: Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {2A7F1E4B”-Error.
Plus: on the first installation, Vista 64-bit crashes with a blue screen.
My system:
6000mbit-broadband
Vista 64-bit
I’m sorry renelehnert,
But 64 Bit Operating Systems are not currently supported by MLB Mosaic.
– Adrian
I also get the System.BadImageFormatException: Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {2A7F1E4B-1724-487C-9419-F24F01CAA644} failed due to the following error: 800703e6.
error message. However for me it was not on the install. I was using Mosaic all day Monday/Tue afternon, loaded it tonight and it downloaded a “update” and now it will not work. Running Windows Vista, GeForce 7900 Video Card, 2gig RAM, AMD X2 4200+ CPU.
When I try to install Mosaic it says I currently do not have DirectX 9.0c on my computer.
I ran the DXDIAG test, and I have an ATI MOBILITY RADEON XPRESS 200M, 64MB memory, driver date is 3/2/2007. It also says I have DirectX 9.0c installed.
However, every time I try to install Mosaic I get stopped at the same point and Mosaic says I don’t have 9.0c. Please help me resolve this.
getting the same error message as lomberge@hotmail.com. mikewas@hotmail.com, richat4most@yahoo.com. I too downloaded the latest drivers from Microsoft, but it does not help. I have been trying now for 2 days on this Windows XP. Today tried for the first time on my laptop and it installed perfectly first try. Did not have the right drivers there, but the download program incorporated the driver program into it. Partway through the download, it went and got the drivers automatically. Tried agin now on my Dell desktop thinking maybe it would work here, but still having the same error message as the last 2 days
want to add that each time I tried to download, I first erased everything and started over, but still get the same error message each time
Hi guys,
We’re monitoring this blog so if someone here has any installation issues and has not received a support e-mail let us know here.
Thanks,
Adrian
I think I downloaded the program. I have the setup icon and mlb,tv icon but I don’t know where to start the mosaic.
Hi civilmet@aol.com,
What happens when you double click on the MLB TV Mosaic Icon?
– Adrian
am unable to download the Mosaic application. I’ve been getting the error message “Error reading setup initiation file” Has anyone figured this one out?
@stuffy
I’ve sent you a support e-mail, let me know if by some chance you do not receive it.
– Adrian
Adrian,
I received an email from Shane and responded on Wednesday. Normally how long do they take to respond. I was just wondering because today is the last day I have to cancel under the trail period and still do not have access to Mosiac. Thanks Adrian!
I have Windows XP. When I load Mosaic I get an error message saying,”It could be that you need to update your DirectX Drivers. If this error persists, please report the following error message to customer support. Exeption: Error HRESULT E _FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component. I have downloaded the newest DirectX Runtime and restarted my computer and I still get the message. I have also tried shutting down my firewall with no success.
Thanks,
nyknicks7@yahoo.com
How could mlb design something that you can not enter proxy userid. I am behind a proxy that needs to enter credentials but due to the fact that mosaic doesn’t allow it i can not use it
any fix for the DirectX error?
I am unable to get mosaic to run at all. I’ve just uninstalled it and tried a fresh install and have the same problem.
When I install, I get this error which seems to come from Swarmcast:
“JetPerfect: Incomplete .usg file. Extra Usage List Generated.”
When I run Moasic, it hangs forever on the screen which says “Loading”.
I am running Windows XP Pro, SP2, on a Lenovo T60 laptop.
No problems watching ordinary mlb.tv. But I want to use mosaic.
I’ve not seen any reply from support. I also sent a mail via the “contact us” function several days ago.
I’ve been a mlb.tv subscriber since the first year it was offered. When it works it’s great, but support has always been POOR. If I telephone either can’t get through, or I am on hold for ages (at international rates in my case). Emails aren’t even acknowledged.
It is a shame – such a great game, generally great product, and the worst support I’ve ever come across.
Would you please tell me if ANYTHING is being done with regard to the error message that I provided in full on April 4, at 9:56 am? It begins after I install. The long error message starts out:
System.BadImageFormatException: Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {2A7F1E4B-1724-487C-9419-F24F01CAA644} failed due to the following error: 800703e6.
at onQ.BroadbandServiceManager.BroadbandServiceManager.Initialize(Panel DisplayPanel)
This is EXTREMELY frustrating. I wrote to you eight days ago and have been trying out Mosaic several times a day since then. While I’m generally a patient kind of guy….
Thanks. David
I continue to have the failure to initialize problem:
“The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click OK to terminate the application.”
I’m running Windows XP Professional x64 Edition.
install keeps freezing at “downloading .net framework 2.0.. please wait” with 4 blue progress bars… have to ctl-alt-del to get out of it and cannot even cancel process from task menu… have to restart… have tried redownloading with same result… windows xp
10 days later, no contact, no reply to my mail my mail. No answers on this blog. No suprise…
I still have this problem:
I get this error which seems to come from Swarmcast:
“JetPerfect: Incomplete .usg file. Extra Usage List Generated.”
When I run Moasic, it hangs forever on the screen which says “Loading”
It looks like the problem is with Swarmcast, but that was installed as part of downloading Mosaic.
MLB.TV is the only product I’ve ever bought where there is absolutely no customer service.
can u please help. after installing mosaic i click to open and i receive this message. c:\Program Files\MLBTV Mosaic\MLBAPPStart.exe
this application has requested runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the applications support team for more info…
I have not been able to view any games since April 27, 2007. I have a subscription to the premium 700k and when I click on the link it is dead. I have tried clicking on every link and they are all dead to me. What should I do?
It’s now been a month and posting on this blog has been useless (no response at all), but – today I got a mail from MLB customer service in response to my mail of 1 month ago!
However, all it did was ask for information which I already had provided (e.g. what OS I’m using, details of the problem, etc). So I’m not optimistic… but it is the first time I’ve received ANY kind of response so I guess that is progress.
Again, my problem is:
I get this error which seems to come from Swarmcast:
“JetPerfect: Incomplete .usg file. Extra Usage List Generated.”
When I run Moasic, it hangs forever on the screen which says “Loading”. It just won’t run!!!
It looks like the problem is with Swarmcast, but that was installed as part of downloading Mosaic.
Well I spoke too soon… I got another mail from customer support… after waiting 1 month for a reply, this is what I get:
“We apologize for the difficulty that you have experienced with your account, but suggest that you call our Customer Support department at 1-866-800-1275 as they are better suited to handle your specific inquiry.”
So that means waiting on hold for hours (at international rates in my case)… and I’m sure I’ll get someone who says they can’t help and suggests I email with the details!
I am having the same issue as
“After downloading, then attempting to install, the installation stops and says Error 1327/Invalid Drive:E. Any clue what that means?”
same issue as 8:08 pm commenter stated above, but mine refers to G drive. please help.
I had to uninstall to try and fix a different issue. When I run setup it goes to the maintenance program with repair and modify and uninstall. The only option allowed is uninstall. It can’t uninstall because it is already gone. It thinks I still have the program installed. I have restarted, deleted all the files I could find, and deleted a couple keys in the registry.
Any clues?
I installed a skylight in my apartment yesterday. The people who live above me are furious.
