Audio/Video Issues Feedback Here
If you’re having trouble with audio/video playback in the Mosaic (or on MLB.TV on the site for that matter), please use this thread to help us diagnose and solve them. The more detailed you can be in your description of the problem, the easier it will be for us to help you quickly, so anything you can do to describe whats going on is much appreciated. Again, I know you all don’t have to take the time to help, and your feedback is very much appreciated.
Ideally in your feedback, we’d like (though we understand this is a lot to ask for):
OS Version (i.e. Windows XP with Service Pack 2 / Windows Vista, Mac OS 10.4.6, etc )
Computer Model/type/speed/memory (i.e. Dell Inspiron 8600 Laptop with a 2ghz intel processor, and 512Megs of memory)
Video Card that you have (i.e. NVidia with 128Megs of memory)
Internet Connection speed/type (i.e. 3Mbit Cable, or 768K DSL)
Thanks,
Justin
I’m able to see 4 and 6 game screen at ok quality, but I’ve not been able to get single game video it gives me a streamer error unable to connect? also, for single game my quality bar only goes up to level 2 where I think I should be able to elect a 3rd level of higher quality.
I have an Acer Aspire 5100-3583 with AMD Turion 64 Mobile Technology MK36 (2.0GHz, 512KB L2 cache), ATI Radeon Xpress 1100. I have a cable modem that according to the bandwidth test is running at a connection speed well over 2.8 MHz. I am not having any problems at the low quality, though the video is “low quality” and the audio is very “tinny” sounding. At the middle quality, I am constantly rebuffering and cannot maintain a consistent feed. I can’t get any images at all at high quality. On single game feed, I am also occasionally experiencing a 2 or 3 second gap between the audio and video feeds. Finally, I use dual monitors and if I try to move the player to my second monitor, even the low quality single game view starts to stutter and skip like crazy.
My install went great, however, when I sign in I keep getting a box that pops up talking about Video Mixing Renderer. It talks about a remote connection verifying hardware acceleration and gives several steps to verify the settings and then the last thing it says is that This Application will now exit. I’ve checked the settings, they are exactly as instructed. The application doesn’t close so I’ve been trying to get the video to work in the box right next to the date and time it says connecting all the time. I’ve tried finding every program in my firewall from MLB or swarmcast and giving them permission and it still won’t work. I checked my video drivers and dxdiag and everything is up to date. Any suggestions?
I am having the same problem! As soon as I sign in it is still wanting me to provide all my information to verify my blackout area. After I hit cancel I can get to the six screens and can watch the games. If I click on one game to watch that game it kicks me out and tells me to update my billing information at mlb.com which I have already done! Is anyone else having this problem?
Pentium 4/2.4 with 1GB, ATI Radeon 9300, running windows xp/sp2. Cable modem with high bandwidth.
I keep getting stream error, then connecting… and nothing. I cannot see any video on the mosaic screen or any audio.
Very frustrating. The audio/video works fine with MLB premium single game format.
having an issue that every time I sign out of mosaic and try to re-open it will not start up a screen…..if I delete the software and re-download it, it works fine. I am on a mac. also still can’t get the player roster to load, but that is not my real problem at this point. anyone else have this issue?
Now having problem with window popping up “cannot read memory at …… address. Click OK to terminate application”. Then Mosiac shuts down. Tried unistalling/re-installing to no avail.

I’m not sure about my video card. Can someone tell me how to find out.
The video is terrible. It freezes every other second and is impossible to watch.
This is my first year for MLB.TV. I don’t seem to be having any problems but… my video runs great and frequently freezes momentarily. Very choppy like a scratched DVD. Is this normal?
i have the same exact problem as the first poster twags. 3 bars in six games and it works. 2 bars in ingle and it doesn’t work.
I have the samr problem as Lance Jones. The application doesn’t close. it says connecting all the time.

six and four games come up fine in low quality, highest quality it buffers all the time and rarely pulls the games up. single game view doesnt show, network stream error try different quality level. doesnt work on either quality level.
I am having the stuttering problem with my MLB.tv 700K feed. I ahve a Windows XP install on a HP DV1000x I have 100GB of ROM and 1 GB of RAM. I am connected via a Cable modem and I am connected mostly at 24Mbps, wireless. I know that that is enough speed/power and it shouldnt be stuttering. So, I am wondering if there is something a muck with my video card. I dont know what it is and I dont know how to check it to tell you or to get updates. I would say my comment is similar to post from jjh899195 at 1:27 today. I have not had an opportunity to watch multiple games on Mosaic, but it did install and it does load and I am able to populate my player tracker. My only real issue so far is the stutter.
Mosaic started well for me today. Still isn’t great, but the buffering is down a lot. Keep up the good work guys, it’s clear that you’re making progress.

On single-game view, audio is fine, but video stutters violently. It looks more like a flip book of still pictures than video.
Any tips?
WHY CAN’T I WATCH ANY SINGLE GAMES? I CAN ONLY USE THE MOSAIC. THIS IS KILLING ME. I DON’T WANT TO WATCH 4 SMALL BLURRY GAMES. I WANT 1 LARGE CLEAR GAME. WHAT’S GOING ON?????????
ALL I GET IS A BLACK SCREEN WHEN I TRY TO WATCH ANY SINGLE GAME.
AND YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE PHONE NUMBER CUTS ME OFF AFTER HOLDING FOR 2 MINUTES EVERY TIME. LOVING THIS.
Audio problems here. In single game, I have audio. However, in 4 and 6-window mode, I get know audio. Am I just missing something I have to check? I have a game in focus (yellow box), but no audio. Video works fine.
On a Dell Inspiron 9300 laptop.
I can’t even get the multimedia guide to load today’s game at MLB.com. Are your servers overloaded again? This means I can’t test whether the single-game feed will work. In Mosaic, it’s not working well at all–repeated re-bufferings make the games unwatchable. (It happens in multi-view and single-game-view.) Aha–the multimedia guide just came up, and the single-game feeds are stuttering badly in 700k. That this is happening in both Mosaic and the single-game streams makes it seem like your servers are bogged down. Again. I’m running a Dell Dimension 5150, Pentium D, Windows XP Pro (SP2), with a gig of RAM, and a T-line.

Running XP on a Dell XPS M1720 (fully loaded, top of the line laptop).
My biggest problem is that the audio is a little choppy but more importantly will not stay synced with video. Usually it is off by a few seconds.
I have met all the install requirements. I have un-installed and re-installed this program 3 times now. Same problem each time. I get no sound and no picture (black screens). I do eventually get sound when i click on a single game, but still just a black screen. I’m giving this one more day before i cancel this service.
my product doesn’t work and your phone system keeps cutting off my call while I’m on hold. My mosaic just froze, so now I can’t watch single games or the mosaic. What is going on? My friends get the single game video to work with no problems, but mine does nothing. NOTHING. Just a black screen.
It’s telling me that it’s “playing 828K bits/sec”. It should say “now playing Sensory Deprivation Mode” because i can’t see or hear a thing. In fact, i’ve never actually seen a picture on this thing, MLBTV works fine but this doesn’t. I don’t get it.
I’D RATHER BE WATCHING BASEBALL NOW
HOW DOES YOUR MLBTV WORK FINE???? MINE SHOWS NOTHING!!!
The newest “update” has broken Mosiac for me. it will not load at all. tried a reboot, uninstall/reinstall will not load, just a box that comes up
Unhandled expection has occurred in your application. If you click continue the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.

If i hit Continue the software will try to load but remain a black screen. a reinstall / reboot does not fix this issue. I am running Windows Vista.
yesterday i could watch single game in 700 k (not mosaic). today, junk. so choppy. unwatchable.
i thought we were suppose to fix problems today, not add more.
when I try to watch a single game on MLBTV, under the black screen it says “STOPPED”
Why?
please help. i can’t take all this stuttering. is this an internal issue or is it something on my end?
I constantly have connections issues relating to buffering and choppy playback, both in the regular MLB.tv and in Mosaic. Details of my system:
Pentium 4 2.4 GHz
1024 MB RAM
Nvidia 6600 256 MB
Connection: ADSL 1.8M (192/1856)
I would take a choppy screen with messed up audio at this point. I get absolutely NOTHING when i play Mosaic. Once, it actually played some sound, until i clicked on something, then it just stopped all together. However, i can, for some reason, watch games just fine on MLBTV @700k. So there’s no reason this program shouldn’t give me SOMETHING.
this is too much. now the audio is a full inning off.
if this were free it would be disappointing. but since i had to spend over 100 dollars for it and not to mention a 700 dollar computer to “watch” baseball because i can’t get direct tv i want solutions.
Hi,
I just signed up for mlb.tv yesterday to give it a whirl while the Big Three try to sort out something in RE: MLB Extra Innings.
I got around the problem of watching in full-screen by downloading the mosaic app (by simply watching single games through mlb.tv I was unable to do so). I signed up for the mlb.tv premium feature, but the video quality in the mosaic player window only goes as high as the second-level video quality, from the icon near the top right of the screen. I saw three levels at first, but now when I click on a game in mosaic, it only gives me the choice of the lower two video quality levels. I think i should be able to enjoy the games at the full video speed ( “TV Quality”, as the mlb.tv sign-up page promises.
Maybe you could tell me what I can do to improve my video quality. or maybe I’m wrong and I’m already getting it…
Here’s my Mac specs:
iMac 17″ 1.83 GHz Core Duo
1.5 GB total memory
20 GB available space
Mac OS X 10.4.8

Thanks!

I still am only getting 6 and 4 view mosaic to work and single view doesnt not work it just keeps saying cant connect trying lower quality, neither quality works.. this is a step up however from yesterday, because all I would see in single view was a blank screen and connecting and nothing would happen. Still Its Day 4 of the season, and Im not happy that I already paid $120 and cant get the service MLB.com advertised to provide.
Like everyone else it seems, i have connection problems. When i log into Mosaic, it tries to connect and then gives me a Network Stream error message and tells me to change the quality. No matter what level i change it to, i can’t watch any games.
I can only go up to the 2nd quailty level to.thats not what we paid for.
Audio and Video is impossible to watch or listen to it is so choppy. Video almost never moves and audio stutters constantly. Something is gravely wrong here and I hope this is cleared up quickly. I have tested the streaming in both single game and Mosaic on 2 different PC’s and both have the same result.

These are the details. I have no problem at all with the website streams, 400 or 700 K.
I have no problem with the 6 game view in low quality.
However the mosaic simply keeps stuttering constantly in single game view (400 or 700 K) and in multigame view with medium or high quality. The audio is fine. What shall I do?
the upper screens are split by the score and inning black bar on 2 of my computers One computer is getting the stream at 1300kbps, but movement is slow, and re-buffers quite a bit.
Dell Inspiron E1750, 1.7, 1gb ram with xp home sp2.
yesterday had no problems with the feeds. today after the update installed on 6 and 4 it constantly has to rebuffer. Lasts maybe 2 mins, then buffers. Also, can not get the single game mode to play. all it ever says is connecting but never does.
please explain that I can watch the **** right guard commercial countless times, but as soon as its over, I get “STOPPED” in the bottom right corner and no game. This is with the regular MLBTV.
I posted before about the audio / video stuttering in both mosaic and single game on mlb.tv. Now on one of my PC’s I can’t even get back into Mosaic as I receive a message saying the service is temporarily unavailable. This boggles my mind since I can log in and out at will on my laptop and do not receive this message. This is terribly frustrating. I would prefer not to seek a refund on my purchase, but at this rate it looks like that may be inevitable.
I’m getting the pop up window that talks about a video mixing renderer. I am doing every step it is asking of me and still nothing is happening. I updated my video driver as well, but still nothing. Mosiac works, just no video or audio. MLB.tv media player works though, so in theory everything should work. WHAT SHOULD I DO????
I posted this in the streaming thread earlier, but I’ll post again here with all relevevant info included in case that wasn’t read.

I get constant stream errors from the start with no video or sound in any mode or quality. I have yet to be able to see video from the time I first downloaded the program on Monday. Game stats are displayed, including “alert” text on the little screens. I’ve reinstalled the program many times with no luck. The video on mlb.com works fine.
I was thinking that maybe Roadrunner was blocking the packets, but the tech guy I called had no clue. I’m wondering if Mosaic works for anyone else who uses Roadrunner?
are any of you guys getting any help??? or are you just waiting on this blog like a dummy i.e. myself.
I constantly have connections issues relating to buffering and choppy playback, both in the regular MLB.tv and in Mosaic. In two days, I’ve only gotten video to play twice, and then only for a few seconds before a streaming error.

Hey I have a problem with the audio. It is not clear when all 6 games are up. Only clear when I have one game. My internet connection is fast and I have a XP with service pack 2 and all the updates up to date. The video lags a little but nothing to worry. The single game works fine. How come the audio is lagging on the 6 and 4 game format? email me soon. Thanks a bunch. Jon
Follow up to above post…took the mlb.com bandwidth test, and am getting > 6000kbps, so it should not be connectivity.

Still cannot play 700k streams from archives .. says stream does not exist .. have to play direct from the website ..
However, from Mosaic the games are preceded by MLB News (400k stream only?) .. on the website you don’t get the news and go straight to the game. This could be why 700k streams can be played in from the archive and it shouldn’t really be there anyway.
***?? i closed out of mosiac and tried to sign back in. it says update found but it says a problem has caused the program to stop wordking and won’t let me sign on to the mosiac.
enough already. at least earliear i could get on even if it was junk. now i can;t even signon.
help please!!
I can’t watch any archive games. I can go to the web and watch the archive fine from the web but I should be able to watch the achive game within mosaic. I have a balance-digital laptop intel p4 with WinXP MCE 512MB of RAM ATI mobility Radeon 9700 series. 64MB of memory. Cable connection every speed test I’ve run has shown 9000+ kbps. Help please. Downloaded new release for PCs. Problems continue. Now, on lowest video setting, I’m able to get some picture (on the 6 screen), but it freezes up within 1-2 second and then goes into a seemingly endless loop of buffering until I get an error message “requested quality level is not available” or (more frequently) “Unable to connect. Try a different quality level.”
I know this isn’t the place for this, since it’s a technical support board. But this is true horsehit. As a manhattan resident, I am one of the MILLIONS (not 234,000 as Bud “$14M/year” Selig claims) who can’t get direct TV. MLB is taking a big wet **** on it’s fans. If this doesn’t work in the next 24 hours I’m disputing the $120 charge on my credit card and will never spend another $$ on MLB. I hope the rest follow suit.

can only watch one screen. 6-4 option buffers every 2 seconds..impossible to watch. Even on one screen it only works on lowest quality. Need help now.
Got through the HRESULT error during install by updating video card drivers. Can watch premium through web site and everything runs smooth with good overall quality. However, Mosaic runs extremely slow even on lowest setting. Video is in slow motion if it shows at all, and sound is choppy.
I have a problem with the audio in the mosaic… I can’t listen anything… Not even in the single game screen… I have a Dell XPS 600, P4 CPU 3.20 GHz, 2.00 GB of RAM, Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition SP2
Hello,
I have not been able to get any video in any view thus far. I’m not getting any system errors, just a streaming error.
My OS is Windows Vista Ultimate Version
I have a Dell XPS 400
I have BellSouth’s fastest possible connection.
Please let me know what other information you need. Thanks.
Where do you find all this information out? I’m okay on a few of them, but video card? Is there a place I can click to find out? Thanks.
well I’m glad to see I’m not the only one upset with this junk package I paid for!! If you guys at MLB.TV weren’t 100% sure this Mosaic thing would work then you should have waited till u were sure it would work!! For now I firmly believe u all owe everyone single one of us a full refund or problem solved ASAP! My message is either; “Streaming Error, try lower quality” and “Unable to verify blackout restrictions, try again later”!! We want answers or our money back!!!
Hi rjgray@edu.pe.ca,
One of the best ways to get the info requested is by following the steps bellow:
1. Click on Start>Run and type in DXDIAG and pres OK
The System Tab and the Display Tab will provide you with the requested information.
Let me know if you have any questions.

I am also unable to recieve audio in the 6/4 pane mode, but do have more than satisfactory video quality, and audio is available in single mode, as in the same case as weezer (above).
Video streaming in 6/4 pane mode does buffer a little more than I would prefer with my 15 meg fios connection, but I can live with that, provided I can get my audio.
I feel like I’m missing a link to switch the audio from game to game in 6/4 mode, how do you switch audio between games?

Watched kind of FLA-WAS game but froze up during the D. Young AB.
Keeps rebuffering and audio not in sync with video. 2 sec delay.
The above instructions are for Windows XP.
For Windows Vista:
Click on the windows logo that is located where Start would normally be and type DXDIAG in the “Search” box at the bottom.
The rest is the same.

OK, call me Mr. Negativity.
y’think maybe y’all boys would have debugged this thing before getting us folks to shell out $120? Installation seemed to go fine but I have yet to get a picture. the mosaic tried to go to a different “level” that didn’t do anything. and on mac, I never got past “loading” I hope there is a refund policy. Selling out to DirectTV was a big, big, PR blunder by MLB. Does anyone care?
XP Service Pack 2
Dell GX260 Pentium 4 1.8G HZ
1G RAM
Video Radeon 7500
Cable modem above 768K
Mosaic launches and sometimes I get a stream error or it sits there saying connecting but nothing happens. I updated my video driver, rebooted, re-installed the latest setup but it still sits there saying connecting. Folks whatever happen to your QA and certification environment. This should have been tested and re-tested numerous times.
Idea for improvement:
In the game switching bar, in addition to the scores, there needs to be an indicator for which team is batting and the inning that the game is in.
Premium (I guess more appropriately Mosaic) is a real ripoff. Worse picture I’ve seen in years. I’m getting a real good picture on regular MBL.TV, and will be sticking to it. Now to find out how to get my money back for Premium.
Im having a ton of problems with mosaic’s streaming. It wont stream and then I have to restart it over and over until it will finally stream video. When it does it’s usually choppy. I have a HP Pavilion dv9000, windows vista, nvidia geforce go 7600, and my connection is over 5000kbps
The Mosaic is horrific, it freezes all the time and has to rebuffer.
The concept is great, but I find myself just watching a single game and ignoring the mosaic due to quality and playing issues.
I can watch single games at high quality, 6 games at low quality but not 4 games at low quality. It doesnt even give me a chance to connect when i try changeing to mid or high quality i instantly get streaming error. Living in England we get 2 games a week on tv hence why i paid for this and not getting to watch multiple games in good quality *****.
I am running on Pentium D 2.8ghz, Nvidia 7300se, 1GB Ram and my test on MLB bandwith was 4000kbps.
I’m having similar problems with choppy video and audio in both Mosaic and single game MLB.com. Freezes frequently and has to buffer again. I am running Windows XP and using DSL at 1000 kps. My video card is a g-force 6600 (256 mb) and my ram is at 1.5 gig.
This is becoming a real pain. Mosaic freezes all the time, single game 700 freezes all the time. $120 is totally not worth it. You guys really need to get this fixed. WE ARE ALL RUNNING QUALITY COMPUTERS!
Hello!
At 400 I have no problem getting it to stay but as soon as I upgrade to 700 its good for about 15 seconds and then it rebuffs and gets skippy!!!
I have hi-speed wireless access.
hp pavilion a805n
515 intel pent. 4 processor 2.93ghz
512mb ram
160gb 7200rpm
intel graphics media 900 with up to 128mb shared video memory
Hopefully you guys can resolve it because watching it on 700 speed teased me and it would be great if it was tv quality like the ad said!!!
By the way…that stupid Old Spice deer commercial never freezes up. Hmmmm….interesting that the advertisements can run free and clear, the pong game runs free and clear but when we want to watch an AB it freezes up.
I can’t use the 4 or 6 screen setup. It says “connecting” and doesn’t.(I get impatience after a few minutes)
I have included the DXDiag for your interest.

There is so much of a delay in the video, that if you are viewing the game stats along with the game, you know what will happen two plays ahead of time. Great if you are betting what the next pitch will be, but not so great if you are watching the game.
Please make my audio and video continue for more than 10 seconds. I have 10 seconds of video/audio, then 20 seconds of blank, stopped picture. This cost $120 why?
i can get 1 game, good video, 2 bars,,, on the 4 and 6 screens it will not connect unless i go down to 1 bar…very poor video on that…please advise
o yes…iam running win xp media center…nvidia 256mb video card…1g ram
Having intermittent difficulties with the high quality feed…it will work for a minute or two then begin to stutter severely, about one frame every 10-15 seconds. Audio continues to play at normal rate but video doesn’t play correctly, skipping significant number of frames.
Windows 2000 SP4
Pentium M 2Ghz
2 Gigs of Ram
Dell Latitude D610
3Mb Cable internet connection
Any suggestions appreciated.
Thanks, Adrian, for the info on where to find this stuff.
My son’s mac laptop runs it great, by the way, on the same connection. But he won’t let me use it! Here are the specs I think you need:
Dell Dimension 8300
Windows XP Home (5.1,build 2600)
Pentium 4(R) CPU 2.80 GHz (2CPUs)
510 MB RAM
DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 128 MB
I am running a Gateway 7200 series laptop, WIN XP/SP2, 1Gig RAM, 2.2MHz processor with an ATI RADEON 9600/9700 video with 64MB dedicated memory. I’m on a hotel network with 54Mps speed. Mosaic is useless. When I watch 1 game the video stops regularly and I just get audio. In any multiple view the application just buffers non-stop. I have only MS services running, nothing loaded on startup, and I am using a public IP – outside the hotels firewall. Any ideas?
– Windows XP Media
– Tampa, FL
– Verizon FiOS (15 down/5 up)
– I can only get it to work with the video quality set on the first bar. I am getting 828 K bits/sec. When I have 6 games up, the pictures will all freeze every now and then (sound keeps going). Other times, the sound skips. Takes 10-15 secs to load when switching from 6 games to 1 and back. When watching 6 games, the quality of the video is blurry. I did the Bandwidth test and it came out to over 7000. The video quality looks nothing like the sample preview I watched before signing up for the trial. Thank you.

I can currently get every live game on Mosaic at 700K – except for the one I want to watch! I can only watch the Brewers in 400K. When I try 700K for the Brewers, I get a “stream error, retrying” message. The entire reason I got this package was to watch the Brewers while I am on maternity leave this summer. I haven’t tried the 4 or 6 game feed as I really don’t care about other teams. I want to watch a single live Brewer game at the highest quality level possible. I’d be satisfied w/700K at the moment if the TV quality feed will be forthcoming. But, I can’t even get the 700K to work for the Brewer game on MLBTV, much less on Mosaic. Can somebody tell me why this is happening??
why is the mlb.tv feed about 2mins slow. I turned on my tv and they are showing the Mets – Cards game and i knew the end of the innings before it was shown on mlb.tv feed.
I am having the same problem with the Video Mixing Renderer message coming up. I see it posted numerous times with no resolution for fixing. Customer Service doesnt answer. I have installed all the necessary programs. Someone please help on this ASAP !!!
I have been unable to watch highlights or top plays for any archived games running mosaic on my mac. I can watch the complete and condensed games fine, but the highlights and top plays freeze while buffering at 48%. None of them get past this.
The alerts are a inning orat least 1/2 an inning ahead. The Alert said the Cubs game was over before the last two outs. The Red Sox score was 3-0 when the second batter was still up. Imspriron 9300, windows.
Justin, I’ve upgraded my RAM, that helps. Now for my video card; I have VIA/S3G UniCrome Pro IGP version 6.14.10.167. Is this the reason why my video stutters? Do I need an upgrade? I didn’t know that I would have to get an IT Degree to watch baseball this season.
I was able to download the mlb.tv mosaic, however I don’t see any games or have any sound. I keep getting the message: network stream error. I tried to change the video quality but the same message keeps coming back.
Thanks
Hi. I can’t watch in highest resolution– stutters and re-buffers, at least once per pitch. Lower resolutions work ok (very occasional rebuffering– once or twice an inning).
My setup:
OS: WinXP Service Pack 2
System: IBM z60t Thinkpad, 2GHz processor, 1GB RAM.
Video Card: Intel 915GM/GMS, 128MB RAM.
Internet connection is 10MB cable, although Ihave reason to believe it’s not that fast. Computer is networks via a Linksys 2.4GHz wireless G router. Your bandwidth test link put me at 3401 kps.
ditto
Like an earlier poster, I am unable to watch an archived content (whole games, highlights, etc.) on a Mac using Mosaic, regardless of the video quality selected (I am a plus subscriber). I do seem to be able to do so by using the mediacenter – http://mlb.mlb.com/mediacenter.
My setup:
MacBook Pro
Mac OS X 10.4.9
1 GB 667 MHz RAM
Comcast ISP
Connecting via wireless G to a linksys router. Bandwidth test put me at 6129 kbps.
No problems watching live games.
(quick update to previous post – when I do try to watch archived contact via Mosaic, it buffers to about 49% then stays there, never making it further)
what’d you guys spend all of 2 weeks with 2 programmers building this POS? its not as if the season just came out of no where and you had to rush to get the product out. Unless there’s a strike, baseball comes every spring, which means you had at the very least 6 months to build it, not like you needed to setup the mlb db or anything, seriously, I could have built a better product in 6 months, without a team.
That said, as I posted in the audio/video area, my issues are:
1. No audio in 6/4 view mode.
2. functionilty within mlbamplayer.exe locks up or it crashes, when switching local screen resolution.
3. frequent buffering in 6/4 view mode (every few minutes) – and I’ll have to wait until tomorrow to find out if adjusting my specified WMP buffering resolves this.
4. There is at least a 1 minute delay from live action
5. player alerts shoot off the same alert 5, sometimes 6 times in a row.
6. player tracker displays only 5 players.
Minimum Feature Expectations:
1. An indicator displaying what team is at bat & what inning the game is in.
2. What is the point of having a player tracker if it doesn’t even show their stats, nevermind making those stats sortable, the amount of time it sounds like you guys move an inch, I’d be shelling out another 120 bucks first before that feature gets implemented. You think we want to know who is on our list and what team they are on? Or that we dont know? Who do you think put the players on their lists? I mean really, what a worthless section to waste time on if that is going to be the eventual result, oh and btw, making 30px fonts doesn’t do a good job of filling up space to make it look like you put some effort into this thing.
3. What is up with the 30 player limit on the tracker, cmon, cut my balls off while you’re at it, couldn’t even get the whole red sox team on there if i wanted to. One other note: there is a bug that one can glitch to get around that 30 player limit that I’m sure you’re aware of, as it wasn’t a tough one to accidentally fall into: Just highlight all the players that you want to move into your tracker at once, and then highlight and remove any player from the current tracker list. This as you know will remove the player from the tracker list, and add all highlighted players into the tracker, and now I have the 175 player alerts that I need, and yes, the other tracker problem that I presented earlier were apparent with just the 30 players on my tracker.
Attempts to resolve the problems:
-reset winsock
-adjusted to all local screen resolutions & Bit rates
-removed all bho’s & IE add-ons
-reset all IE options to default
-turned off hardware acceleration
-disabled firewall
-shut down all unnecessary running processes
-virus scan with the McAfee engine
-turned off WMP 11 hardware acceleration
-tried all video quality levels
-uninstalled/reinstalled MOSAIC/swarmcast
*Still debating whether I want to try downgrading to WMP 10, because if it works I would be disappointed with that as a resolution.

Im sure you aren’t asking yourself why I tried all these steps, but I’m going to tell you anyway: its because I waited 45 minutes trying to get ahold of you people before I hung up the phone, acknowledging the fact that MLB couldn’t give a flying **** about its fan base. (not that I blame MLB, they do have us by the short & skinnies, but that doesn’t make it morally right, and if you don’t give a **** about being morally right, then you can all go to ****.
I have 2 different computers that I have been viewing games on. The problem with the video that I am having appears to be strictly bandwidth related. I have a 5 Mbit Internet connection, but the bandwidth test to your servers never comes back more than 400 kb, so I am not meeting the minimum requirements for the streams to be working correctly. I actually work for my ISP, so I checked the bandwidth test at work (connection to the internet is direct to a DS3) The results were still less than 400 kb. I am wondering if the servers are over subscribed, or what is going on? I doesn’t matter how much bandwidth I have because the stream is getting choked somewhere way out of my control
Hi.
Everything for me runs perfect. My only question is this:
Will I ever be able (or can I already but don’t have it configured right) to have 6 screens running plus choose 1 screen for audio?
Thanks in advance for the reply.
I am ready to drive to the mlbtv home office and start choking people. I have perfect video but no audio on the standard mlb media player. I now have mosaic open for the audio, but the video on the standard player is delayed. Can anyone give me an idea how to get audio on the standard player?
jrkay@adelphia.net
MLB has put out an extraordinarily inferior product, and they seem not to care. They should be ASHAMED of MLB.TV! I have have to re-load the streaming an average of 4 times per inning. Not per game, PER INNING!!
Still getting video that stutters while the audio is fine. Then out of nowhere it all works fine. Then a few minuits latter were back to stuttering (freeze frame) video. I left a note here on this yesterday and I don’t even see that here now. I need to know what going on? I assume it’s on your end not mine if it alternates.
System is Win 2000, broadband cable.
Would love an answer, otherwise forced to cancle subscription.
I still have problems and get the message network stream error. The only way I can watch some games is sometimes at the lowest video quality and it is very blurry. Even then the image and sound freezes on a regular basis. Not very pleasant.
Still waiting on an answer to the reason why I can’t access the Mosiac. Again, I have a window that pops up and reads:
“This application requires the Video Mixing Renderer, which is present only on DirectX 9 systems with hardware video acceleration enabled.
The Video Mixing Renderer (VMR9) is not enabled when viewing a remote Windows XP machine through a Remote Desktop session. You can run VMR-enabled applications only on your local machine.
To verify that hardware acceleration is enabled on a Windows XP system, follow these steps:
-Open ‘Display Properties’ in the Control Panel
-Click the ‘Settings’tab
-Click on the ‘Advanced’ button at the bottom of the page
-Click on the ‘Troubleshoot’ tab in the windown that appears
-Verify that the ‘Hardware Acceleration’ slider is at the rightmost position
This application will now exit.”
then I do all of those steps and update my driver and it continues to pop up. It occurs just as it is done loading. The live scoring and who’s at the plate functions, but I can’t receive video or audio. I have tried re-downloading the MLB Mosiac as well. Please help me!!!! I’m very close to closing my account and demanding a refund.

so far, not very good. with mosaic, i can’t ever switch to single game mode and get video. and, of course, video with 4 or 6 windows, even at the highest quality, is not as good as the product demo suggests. and i can’t even get the yankees game on regular mlb tv video from the scoreboard page… you’d think that with the cable tv dealings people would have anticipated usage levels… disappointing… oh well, i hope the product gets better soon. it is a very good idea…
I am receiving Error 500: Server busy.
Please tell me this will be fixed soon. I didn’t shell out $79 so I could miss games during peak usage.
I’ve only been blacked out on my local game except on mosiac. If I log into MLB I can get my local game. Don’t think mosaic is worth the money.
Every day I try to click into a specific game and I get a Stream error from mosaic or I get a stopped error from MLB.TV. This is very strange because I could access the Sox Indians game from work today but at home I cannot get the games to come up except on Mosaic. I like mosaic but I cannot watch single games and that is how I really want to use this product.
This is my second post I am hoping to get some help with this problem is there somthing I need to do to make this work, Please????
XP
Cable ISP
Still not able to watch a single complete archived game. keeps replaying the pregame shows on a loop. it’s not the 6 am next day issue either because i can’t even watch a game from monday.
Unhappy with this! I’m as big an MLB Fan as there is and I really enjoy MLB TV. However, this Mosaic thing is really a disappointment. I’m assuming it isn’t supposed to take 20 minutes to load!? I’ve got a great cable internet connection and a fairly new computer setup and I’m not getting anything out of Mosaic.
I can not get anything. It loads but just keeps buffering or doesn’t load anything. If I try to load just 1 game it loads the screen but just goes to stopped and nothing plays. I paid my hard earned $119 and get nothing I feel you need to correct the problem or give me my money back. I will also tell every fan that this seems to be a sham, and that it doesn’t work.
ack
I am using Mosaic adn MLB.TV and cannot get audio? What to do?
i bought a brand new computer in anticipation of the new MLB season so that i knew my MLBTV would perfectly, boy was I wrong. I have to say I am very disappointed. The mosiac doesn’t work at all, it just keeps telling me network stream error over and over again. then when i am watching a game, outside of the mosiac mind you, it has to buffer itself over and over so the game is ridiculously chopppy, the first game i tried to watch, it took Nick Swisher 15 minutes to step into the batters box. This is very upsetting and I am starting to think that I want my 120 dollars back. It seems like you guys are building this one the fly and that is disappointing. You are taking advantage of baseball fans. first you don’t let regular cable networks pick up the baseball package, then as a consolation to those that don’t have direct tv you offer us this inferior product. I just want this to work properly, it did it would be money well spent. somebody please help!
by the way i have a cable connection if that helps you solve my problems
Companies have an ethical and financial obligation to ensure (ahead of time) that their products will work for the target market to whom they choose to sell. MLB has failed in the contract they made with us to deliver the MOSAIC service. It does NOT work in applications that meet the system requirements MLB established.
MLB’s product launch process is a sick joke. We should not pay to be beta testers of badly developed software. To say that MLB couldn’t have anticipated these problems is foolish. The very same problems existed last year with this product. MLB had many months to fix the bugs and test the product. MLB obviously chose not to make this investment. Instead it placed the heavy burden of solving the problems on backs of its paying customers.
We have paid a premium price for a service that is not being delivered with any reasonble level of quality and seems to have little chance of success.
I have spent the last 30 years in product managment, marketing, and sales of mission-critical advanced sofware to industry. Had my compnay ever put its customers through this painful experience, we would have been hung, sued, and eventually bankrupt.
MLB, because it is a monopoly, apparantly gets a free pass.
That’s wrong and shameful.
My audio lags my video by 2 seconds. My video locks up from time to time, even with a reduced quality setting.
I’m having no luck whatsoever watching 700Kbps video on the system I have attached to my TV. It’s an Acer L310 (Core 2 Duo, Vista Home Premium).
I tried watching an archived game (at about 1 AM PDT). The stinking Right Guard commercial (which I have now seen about 10,000,000 times) plays just fine. Then when the game comes on, I get audio but very poor frame rate on video.
Bringing up the “statistics” dialog gives me the following information.
Maximum bit rate: 682.0 Kbps
Selected bit rate: 682.0 Kbps
Bandwidth available: 1564.3 Kbps
Bandwidth in use: (varies between about 622 and about 890 Kbps)

Frames skipped: 0
Frame rate: 29 fps
Actual rate: 0.2 fps

Obviously this is with the browser interface, not Mosaic.
I am running on Vista Home Premium and 32bit. I am getting the following error:

Hi,
I’m down here in Singapore and am enjoying MLB via interent.
Suggestions—–
Condensed Game:
1) When the broadcast starts, there is a 1second clip showing the team logos. The accompanying sound is MUCH too loud.
2) With each new inning, a one second video “Top 2” or “Bottom 6” is displayed. The same problem occurs – the short segment is MUCH louder than the rest of the broadcast – particularly the last 0.5 second.
Perhaps it is only happening in Singapore, but I suspect not.
Both sound problems are triply pronounced when one wears headphones, as I often do because the wife is watching a movie.
I see no logical reason to have these annoying features. Perhaps the sound engineers should normalize (I think that is the word) the audio feed, including the inning seperators, so that all audio is the same dB level.
Keep up the good work.
I wrote last week, got a reply, and my computer deleted the reply when I tried to open it. Since then my issues have changed. My Mosaic will now load, I still get the Direct 9x message, but my screens will now load. Problem is I have no audio or video. the alerts are posting, and scores are updated, but now sound or picture. The upper box next to the time always says “connecting”. I assume the problem is with my computer, and I’ll admit I didn’t read through all the comments. Anyway, here’s my info. My computer is a Compac presario 2800 with a 2.08 GHZ Athlon AMD processor and 512 MG of memory. My system is XP 5.1, build 2600. My video card is a VIA/S3G 6.14.0010.0194 with a date of 12/7/2004–I assume that is the problem but I am not fluent enough to know which card to download. So if that’s my problem, if you could give me a specific card that will solve my problem, that would be appreciated. My connection is with Verizon DSL. Thank you, Rick Falk
I have a 1 to 2 second video lag compared to the audio. VERY frustrating and makes the games unwatchable with the sound on.
In addition, Mosaic only works on my computer at the lowest quality setting. However at this setting the video is so poor you cannot make anything out.
I had posted this on the main forum, without knowing that there was a separate blog for audio/video. This is a terrible way to find help. You must read 50 pages in order to see if your issue has been addressed. Why not post solutions, together for the various problems.
I have Sony Vaio pcv 237.
Pentium 4
2.8 GHz
1.0 Gig Ram
64 Mg Nvidia with latest driver
Windows Xp Service Pk 2
60 G Hard drive
3.0 Dsl (checks 2100 on MLB)
The issue is the sound and video being out of sync.
Originally the sound was way ahead of the video. Now with the last update, the video is ahead of the sound. This is not a split second thing. I mean the play is being made in the field before the announcer calls the pitch. This problem is on Mosaic only. The mlb player is fine.
I have had mosaci since before season started and have not seen one game on mosaic. there is audio but no video after dragging to screen. continous buffering and streaming to no avail. Here we go: Microsoft XP home edition 5.1 Build 2600,system model DN025A-ABA-S5200CL NA310, Processor AMD Athlon(tm)XP2600+,MMX,3DNOW,~2.1GHZ,Memory 448 Ram, Direct X Version: Direct X 9.oc(4.09.0000.0904)
Device: Nvidia GEForce MX Intergrated GPU,4.0 MB, current display mode 1024×768(32 Bit) (75 HZ)
Driver: Main n4-disp.dll, driver 6.14.0010.4403(english),DDI 9 or higher
2600+(2.08GHZ) 512 MB DDR Memory, Compact presario. Now, I also loaded Windows media player 11. I have not seen one screen on the mosaic, there is no video at all. What should we do next? Should I reinstall everthing again or what do you suggest. LOADING… is very slow as well. Please help.

Help1
Hi,
I recently bought Dell Inspiron E1405 laptop with Windows Vista. I am having Sigmatel audio drivers.
I tried to record streaming voice using sound recorder. When I play the recorded file, the file is silent. I figured out that my system has only line-in & microphone input devices and I couldn’t find sterio mix or wave out.
I tried installing various drivers but no luck..
Can anyone help me out???
Thanks,
Prasanth
I am still receiving the classic 500 error. Server busy. This utterly disappointing service
