New Build, and other updates
Hi all,
It’s great to see such active commentary on the blog, we all appreciate your time and are working hard to get those of you still struggling working. For a fast response, the best way to get to us is to post here, or email mosaic@website.mlb.com. I’m also going through emails and getting back to you as quickly as i’m able, but so you’re aware – we have the whole team of engineers reading the mosaic@website.mlb.com emails and responding as we’re able. Thank you all again for the time you’ve put into the product. Its been great to hear from those of you that are pleased with it as well as those that are not. The feedback is invaluable as we continue to enhance Mosaic going forward. In the meantime, for those of you still having trouble, you can always check out the high quality feeds via the multimedia guide in the browser at: Multimedia Guide
On to the release. This release should fix the following:
– Audio/Video Syncing bug related to some on-demand game playback
– New release of Swarmcast
– Crashes on game select/audio select with an error of HRESULT E_FAIL that some of you have seen on the PC version.
– Archive games should now start at the correct place, so you don’t have to watch the pre-game show
– On-demand condensed games/highlights/top plays should now be working for everyone
– Mac version dropping out of full screen on rebuffer
– Mac version updates to game archive status
In addition, we’re continuing to refine our install process. To that end, we’ve added an easy to find version number in the preferences window. If you click on the box next to preferences in the top right corner of the mosaic window, you’ll see the preferences window pop up. in the lower left corner of that window, you should now see that the version number is A204. If you don’t have A204, or don’t see it there – it means you’re probably running an early version that is having trouble self-updating. If that is the case, we’d appreciate you taking the time to re-download and re-install. We’re sorry for the inconvenience, and are confident that barring local system issues we’ve cleaned up the self-update process with the newer versions of the Mosaic application.
As always, thanks again for engaging in the conversation on the blog. Some of you will notice today that the blackouts resemble our normal weekly schedule – so i hope you have a nice afternoon watching baseball.
Thanks,
Justin
Hi,
I’m using an Intel Macbook with Flip4Mac. Everything is working fine except that when I try to use the clickable linescore function using my browser (Firefox, in this instance) rather than Mosaic, I am always taken straight to the pregame show. Is there any way I can fix this?
Thanks,
Jonas
hi jonas – there is a scrub bar you can use across the bottom of the video – just grab it and move it over to the right. we’ll take a look at the clickable linescores again on the mac – i have exactly the same setup and theyve been working well for me. which game were you trying?
Are the blackout rules changes for this week only, or will we be able to see all the games every Saturday afternoon from now on?
As of half an hour ago, none of the Saturday, Apr. 14 games were listed as blacked out on the Multimedia guide. I just went to access the Mets game, and lo and behold, all of the 1:10 games, as they became available, became listed as blacked out.
I did NOT sign up to not watch any Saturday games. I am incredibly mad that the only information you give regarding your regular season blackout policy is, and I quote:
“Due to Major League Baseball national exclusivities, scheduled webcasts of certain games during the regular season (including nationally televised games) will be blacked out. Please be sure to visit the Multimedia Guide during the 2007 MLB season for complete and updated schedule information”
How am I supposed to have any idea of what games will or will not be available, when you don’t list blackout information until 15 minutes before the game starts? And why do you advertise on your website that I’ll be able to “WATCH every 2007 regular season out-of-market game LIVE” when this is the second straight Saturday that I am not able to watch an out-of-market Mets game live?
I purchased my subscription in reliance of the information I quoted above, noen of which says that I’ll be missing every Saturday game. Frankly, if this is going to be the blackout policy all season, please send me information on how to get a refund. I did not sign up for this blackout ****.
@abmoser
I see the blackout sign also, but when I click on the link, the game is playing.
ahh, so it is. Thanks sherwood. go mets!
Well then. Going back to someone else’s question…Can we expect to have access to Saturday afternoon games all season, or is that just for this week?
@abmoser
Actually that is going back to my question. oh, and Mets ****!
Mosaic does not show any games as blacked out. And I am watching the Cubs and Reds right now.
Go Cubbies!
I am not a Blackout Expert, and I realize it is confusing. I do not know how each weekend will be, but I am looking forward to a full day of Baseball! I see some emails from you all I’ll be working to get back to you soon.
I have found this new build really makes my computer chug. Not like I’m using a super low end pc either, AMD 3500, 1gig ram, 128 video.
The program audio is always behind the video because of this chug.
With all previous versions, I could run Mosaic, web-browers, messengers and everything would run smooth. Now Mosaic just seems to hog everything.
Even something as simple as ******** using my mouse scroll wheel causes the video to stutter. Any suggestions?
Well, Mosaic is working correctly today. Yesterday, I posted that it asked me to have up to date audio drivers when it loaded. WAs something fixed between last night and today or did my laptop just need a rest! Good to see it working well again. As much as we may complain, no other sports league has anything that can remotely touch mlb.com for new media.
Ok, you guys are wearing me down. I wonder- is my dsl service just not good enough to run the 6TV mode? Below is my posting from last night, along with your question. I sent this by email, however, you seem to be responded here and not by email. I brought my laptop in and I’m experincing the same issues on it, as noted below with my desktop. Mosiac worked great on my laptop at work, but here on my home connection not so good. My work connection is a screaming fast T1 line.
Ok, patiently waiting:
I tried to blog a few messages in the first few days of MLB Mosaic kickoff, however, with no response and what seemed like most having the same problems as myself- I would wait a few days and see if it got fixed. Unfortunately, I still an having difficulty getting the Mosaic to work in the 6-game mode. I have dsl service from Verizon, my pc is only a couple months old running the new Vista OS.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program a few times. I have downloaded the program as an administrator and open it as an administrator. The program loads ok.
1. In the 6 tv mode highest quality, the frames freeze every 20 seconds, buffers quite slowly, starts again, freezes again, buffers quite slowly.
2. In the 6 tv mode middle quality, the frames freeze every 40 seconds, buffers slowly, starts again, freezes again, buffers slowly.
3. In the 6 TV mode low quality, the frames freeze every 10 seconds, buffers quickly, starts again, freezes again, buffers quickly.
4. In the single TV mode high quality, Freezes intermittently, will move frame to frame. I then switch games and it unfreezes. Then works pretty good with an occasionally freeze.
5. In MLBTV mode, works with no problem.
Can you help?
At work it is great- we have a T1 line and I experince no problems at all.

@ gmp24@msn.com
What video card are you running at home and what is the date of the video driver installed?
NVIDA GeForce 7500 LE Graphics card (is this the video card you are asking about?)
How do I find out the date of the video driver?
I have an HP Pavilion Media Center PC m7757c
Thanks for getting back to me.
I now have someone working with me by email- thanks
@WHOEVER WILL LISTEN
***!!!! Commercial in Progress screen up to long again. Mets game returns from commercial and there is a runner on base. This is getting ridiculous.
just wondering who i have to bribe to get someone to respond to an email.
keep up the fantastic work.
Hey Justin, some games on mlb.tv act up…why are some of them in widescreen mode? they make quality bad…it doesnt look like 700k at all..it even looks lower than 400k.. and i am subscribed to premium..
The inconsistency is ridiculous.
Yesterday I had no trouble watching a complete game (worked in Mosaic and via website) at 700KBPS. Today I managed to watch the first couple of innings of the Mets game and since then I am in constant rebuffering (both on website and mosaic). On the website, my statistics show 3500KPBS bandwith yet still constant buffering.
Does it have to do with the amount of viewers on a Saturday? If that’s the case, you guys need to improve things on your end. It’s as if you sold 1,000,000 tickets to a sporting event at a 50,000 capacity stadium and hoped that 950,000 wouldn’t show up!
Great product, I absolutely love Mosaic. Quick question, though: any ETA on fixing the bug where Full Screen mode on a widescreen display doesn’t respect the 4:3 aspect ratio of the video? Instead, it stretches the video out, which doesn’t look very good. I’m using the Mac version, FYI.
Thanks!
It is misleading on the website when it advertises every out of market game live, but also has a link for blackout restrictions.
I know what the blackouts are, but the advertising is not honest, it may be legal, but not honest.
What is up with the blackouts not happening today? Did MLB work out a deal with FOX?
@ hogan
I hear your frustration, but posting here will not fix the problem. It has nothing to do with the Mosaic, but the streaming feed itself. I will relay that the timing is off and see if something can be done.
@ Photo
If you see the same behavior on the website and the Mosaic then it is most likely due to your internet connection. It can vary depending on what others around you are doing on the net.
@ Kcoleman
It’s not a bug it’s by design. We do not hold true to the aspect ratio when going full screen. Many users wanted it this way with last year’s version. It is possible we may add a feature to turn on and off the aspect ratio, but no plans for that yet.
Detroit Toronto i cant access the video for some weird reason
@j2leimer
I have Detroit on right now, they are ahead 10-7 in the 9th. Go Tigers..!!!
Can someone assist with this error message…running on Windows Vista…Thanks. So far I have not been able to use this app and am really begining to wonder if its worth it

Hi,
I only successfuly watched MLB Mosaic at the open day.
However, it works unstable.
I install and uninstall MLB mosaic several times.
I always only see six screens mode.
When I change to single screen or archive game, it always shows “network steam error”.
@ gregwpruitt@yahoo.com
download the new setup file from http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/subscriptions/mosaic.jsp
uninstall the current install.
Reinstall the mosaic
@ho.snowmeow
Have tired connecting your computer directly to the cable modem so you can eliminate the router as a possible problem? Do you have any software running that would prevent the mosaic or swarmcast from running accessing the internet?
the pics i’m getting tonight don’t “fit” the screen -was alright earlier
Hi, I get the exact same error as gregwpruitt, I’m also running vista and have not yet been able to run mosaic on vista, on xp it’s working quite nicely though.
I already did exactly what you told greg to do (5 minutes before you posted your response) and I still get the exact same thing.
Thanks for working your butt[s] off!
@ russellandrena@yahoo.co.uk
I dont understand ‘fit’, unless you are talking about there being a black border around a game in single game mode. Which is just how the game is broadcast. If you are having other problems please send me an email. When you do can you please do the following?
– Click on [Start]
– Click on [Run]
– In the [Run] line type “DXDIAG” (no quotes).
– A DirectX dialog window will open.
– On that dialog will be a “Save all information as” button.
– Click that button and save the information as: .txt to the Desktop
– Reply to this email and attach the file you just saved to the desktop.
ok, its 4/14 and i am having major problems with this mosaic thing….first when i get a picture,it moves in slow motion, the audio is horrible(sounds like someone has the volume control and keeps turning it up and down over and over, also there has yet to be a time i could click on any one game and actually get it in the larger screen, and finally the page that you watch gms on the reg mlb.com is cut off at where the espn logo on the right is in the middle of the s so i cant get a full line score unless i change my reselution to a point where its so small i can barely see it, and one last question…why is it that every other gm i look at in 700k, has a fairly clear picture and its a full screen except the mets games that are more of a widescreen look?…i know im asking for a lot of help, but ya know, im paying for this so i think im justified in asking. id love some help asap
i have windows XP and i have a router hooked up to my computer for my wifes laptop (LINKSYS)dont know if thats help, but there it is
@ tbif362@earthlink.net
Have you verified the following:
1. Your video card supports Direct X 9
2. Your video card drivers have been updated in the past 6 months?
If you do not know, then do what I suggested the person above do and send me an email with the Direct X information.
The website issues I do not know, I only support the MLB Mosaic.
The Mets game may have been broadcast in Wide sreen format or HDTV, we (the mosaic) have no control over how a game is broadcast or what format it is displayed in.
@Mosaic,
I have found this new build really makes my computer chug. Not like I’m using a super low end pc either, AMD 3500, 1gig ram, 128 video.
The program audio is always behind the video because of this chug.
With all previous versions, I could run Mosaic, web-browers, messengers, live scoring for fantasy and everything would run smooth. Now Mosaic just seems to hog everything. I cannot run ANYTHING else without the video stuttering since the update yesterday.
Even something as simple as using my mouse scroll wheel in IE or Firefox causes the video to stutter. Any suggestions?
Th 4/6-game views are always stuttering way worse then before too.
It has to be a Mosaic issue. I run the MLB speed test with Mosaic running and I get 1800kbps. With Mosaic off, I get 7600kbps.
I signed up for the monthly mosaic and I’m not impressed. I have enough bandwidth and my computer is a couple of months old. Picture quality is ok when it’s not sticking in the single game only. The 6 or 4 screen viewing is unwatchable due to locking up and lousy picture quality. So what i’ve seen this week in single game mode is the wind up ( pause two seconds ) then the picth ( pause a second slow mo frame ) then the swing ( speed up fast forward )… It’s annoying. I’ve followed all the tech suggestions and nothing helps with this looping or qwhatever you call it so I’ll give it a month and cancel if things don’t get better. If this thing worked it would be worth it.
every so often I log on and I get a giant wall of the 15 video feeds with the 4/6 screen overlayed on top of it. I have a screen shot of it if you are interested.
@ Hogan,
Nothing changed in the Mosaic, beyond the fixes Justin mentioned above. None of them would affect your system as you describe. I would suggest looking in your task manager for any applications that are taking up large amounts of memory or CPU usage. While the Mosaic does require some processing power and memory, I am able to have FireFox, Outlook, Word, instant messengers all with out any slowing down of the system.
@ newerror81
Sounds like a video card problem to me. Send me your DXDIAG info. (directions on how are listed up in this thread)
@Java
I’d like to see the screen shot
It’s been a busy Saturday, but I must say I appreciate everyone’s positive attitude and willingness to work with me. Again the number one problem is older video cards with out of date drivers. I realize not all baseball fans are technical but this is the biggest requirement for the Mosaic. We are after all streaming 6 games onto your computer from around the united states. It’s cool when you sit back and think about it.
Sent you the screen shot, but like I said. I really like the ability to watch up to 15 games at the same time.
You are asking for the DXDIAG info and i saved it to the notepad and there is a ton of stuff about my PC on it with a mess of files. Do you just want the Dirext X info or all of it ? Is it safe to send this stuff ?
@Mosaic,
There is nothing unusual in the task manager except that Mosaic is taking up 70-80 percent of my resources.
I can use the web-player fine with my other applications but, since yesterday, Mosaic is nothing but stuttering video, chugging and does nothing but slow my system down. It’s even slowing my pc down when I have nothing else open.
It was working fine the first two weeks. I didn’t start having problems till the update yesterday.
As mentioned previously, I am running Vista on an AMD 3500, gig of ram and 128 video.
@hogan
Mosaic eats a ton of resources – way more than the amount the website says is the minimum required if you want it to work at anything better than low quality. I have all but given up on Mosaic despite my 2.0GHz processor and 1.5 GB of RAM.
Audio – Video sync is perfect now! Good job!
I have a hard time connecting multiscreen on more than low quality. Is it the internet traffic or MLB server’s bandwidth are over used?
This build has definitely degraded the video playback for me. It’s very jerky. Plays fine for awhile, then it slows down, then speeds up to catch up. Over and over again. Never did this before this update. I rebooted and closed all other applications. Checked the task manager. Nothing else is using CPU and there is plenty of memory. I’ve got a 256MB NVidia video card with updated drivers and 2 GB RAM. Again, this didn’t happen before this updated. I don’t know if it’s in the application or in the swarmcast or video stream. But it’s definitely different for me. This happens in single game view, high quality. I also checked my internet throughput and it’s over 1.2Mbps right now. The player says it’s playing at 682k, so I should have plenty to spare in this view.
This is hilarious, now I’m having audio-video syncing problems. It’s a full 2-3 seconds behind in Mosaic and a good second off in the browser at 700K. I have a brand new HP Pavillion m7570 with 2 GIG of RAM, and this is the first time i’ve had this problem, it has alwasys been synched in the past.
Hey Gang, keep up the hard work…Running on my Macbook w/ A204 and happy with the service, though I’d love not to constantly manipulate video quiality in an attempt to keep from hearing the ball hit the catcher’s mit when its already halfway back to the mound! Bit of a stretch, but you get the point. Normally isn’t this bad, but this is the one consistant issue that I seem to have along with periodical rebuffing/stream errors. Keep working and thanks!
@ Pat
My video is more jerky as well, and I to have a NVidia video card with updated drivers. In my case though my video card itself is not supported by Mosaic, so I’m having some issues. Due to my cards being unsupported, I can’t get the highest quality. I didn’t have this much jerkiness before the update though.
Might be some issues with swarmcast not sure. Video playback is good for me, but we will look into it this week.
Send me the whole DXDIAG file.
Interesting how one person says perfect sync other says its off. It really can be based on your system, or maybe just a random bad connection.
@Mosaic,
I decided to try Mosaic on two other PCs and have stuttering video on both too. Worst of all, my friend, who has a 3.4ghz core 2 duo, 2gb ram dual, and 2 $400 video cards said the video stuttered on him too. There has to be something wrong as I am not the only one experiencing this since the update.
1. when you are watching a single game, and drag a tile into the video screen to load a different game, i feel like if the tile you drag is the tile of the game that you are already watching, this command should be ignored. as it stands, the program re-loads the same game into the video screen. this is particularly frustrating when you accidentally grab a tile and drag it into the video area, which seems to happen quite a bit for some reason.
2. it would be great if the game tiles across the top also had the inning in addition to the score.
There may be an issue, but with the three boxes I have available to me right now I am not seeing any issues with mosaic or single game. I will look at a broader range of systems this week.
@Mosaic
I had opened the TCP/UDP port for MLB Mosaic.
I have no problem while using MLB.TV.
My Mosaic only works fine in six screens mode instead of single screen mode.
Hard to say Snowmeow, can you send me your DXDIAG info I described how above. I’ll see if I can see anything.
I,ve been patiently waiting for one of these new builds to solve my problems with Mosaic-stuttering audio, slow motion video (even in single view mode). However, after two weeks, there has been no change, it’s totally un watchable. I’m attaching my dxdiag file. My video does support 9 so please have a look to see if there is a problem that is affecting Mosaic. I can go to MLBTV and watch games with no problem. I’m just about to give up & ask for my $30 back-yes only $30 but it’s a small consolation to make up for my two weeks of frustration that I have experienced with this substandard product.

@tbif-the screen thing is the same problem I had-i logged out and then back in again and it was ok but obviously a new problem-
@mosaic-the best way to describe it is when watching the pacman jsut the top lefthand quarter is visible it’s like the image is too big to fit on the screen
otherwise it’s working really well but couldn’t we have the standings or batting/pitching stats instead of pacman?
and can you explain how the switch from the game to commercials works because it feels like someone is pushing a button and is sometimes late-and can be very annoying to miss an at bat
thx
@Mosaic

I live 3 hours north of Toronto and was never blacked out of any games last year.
I bought the Mosaic deluxe package this year and all of a sudden all the Toronto games are blacked out.
I phoned mlb.com and waited 1 1/2 hours on the line and was still on hold.
I may be to late to cancel this year but they can shove it up their *** the following years.
mlb.com YOU S*U*C*K
Can we please not cut and paste DXDIAG files here – email them to mosaic instead. It completely spams up the screen. Thanks!
There are several rain delays today. Can you make it so that during a rain delay that you switch to radio audio? The radio stations usually sit through the delay and give game and weather commentary while the TV feeds switch to other programming. This would have been great for the Cleveland openers when they were stoping because of the snow… The radio broadcast continued while the video feed ended. I had to switch back and forth to find out what was going on.
Thx!
I’m using windows xp.
I’m finding that games seem to lose lipsync after a few minutes if i’m running some background tasks. I would expect this perhaps to occur but the problem is once the task finishes, the lipsync stays inaccurate and the only way to restore it is to restart the streaming.
I have a pretty good graphics card (Geforce 6800+) and processor (AMD 3200+) so my pc shouldnt be the problem.
The same thing also happens on my laptop.
Secondly, on the streams which are broadcast to you in widescreen format, if i select fullscreen mode, there is a big black border surrounding the screen rather than simply blackness along the top and bottom of the screen.
Thirdly, i find sometimes that when i select a game to watch in full screen mode, it freezes on 99% buffering(other games will still work if i select them). The only way i can get the game to load (apart from on 6game mode) is by restarting mosaic.
Can I also put a shout-out to not having the “commercial break screen”.
Apart from that, great work so far on the product!
@cwgraffix
No rain delays today. All those games were postponed.
Please! No more DXDiag info on this page! Thanks.
@fhotte
Dude, I live 6 hours from Atlanta and the Braves Games are blacked out for me. Thats just the way it is, nothing they can do about it here. Talk to people from your local TV network or call up Bud but dont be nasty to people here.
More like they invited all these IRL and Nascar drivers (with their high-powered vehicles) to a race, but then put them on a one lane road with speedbumps…
The buffering of video is just too much…I just wish I could see ONE game without it having to pause.
And by the way, everytime I do the MLB.com bandwidth test, it comes in at over 2000KBps.
You should either get more bandwidth or more servers or find a different streaming technology.
Real Player used to work much better with better video quality and I’m willing to bet that QuickTime would do better as well.
Same here…the buffering and the pauses are driving me crazy. The games today are unwatchable.
10 Mbps connection here and the 4/6 game mode runs fine on lowest quality (looks like ****), buffers every minute or two on medium and buffers constantly on highest quality. It’s obvious that MLB doesn’t have sufficient bandwidth.
Scott
Been watching all day and have no problems with anything!!
Please do not post the Direct X info here. I asked that you mail it to me.
@ blackouts, nothing the mosaic can do about it, please contact MLB support to verify your account is setup correctly.
@ video pausing/buffering
It seems a lot of the people having issues are using Integrated Video cards which 1 share system memory, and processor speed. These cards have not been a problem in the past, but I will look into why they are having problems now. Maybe we can do something to improve their performance.
Player tracker s still not working correctly for all of us, plese see comments at end of April 4 post labeld “Player Tracker Issues”. Thanks.
I haven’t been able to watch for about three days now – neither in Mosaic nor in the regular MLB.TV mode, 700k or 400k. The video either doesn’t finish buffering, or keeps buffering on and off throughout the game, freezing the image for minutes at a time while the audio continues.
Another week goes by without being able to watch a single game due to the constant rebuffering.
I exceed all the required specifications easily, and have contacted my internet service provider to ensure I have the fastest connection possible. I have shelled out for the premium package for the whole season, yet I have received nothing in return.
I read on this blog about so many others having the same problem. I share their frustration.
I know that you guys must be busy trying to fix the many problems with this product, but I would appreciate it if someone would just admit that it isn’t going to get any better so I can try to cut my losses. I’m starting to think the idea here is to convince people their service will get better just long enough for the trial period to expire.
Please and thank you.
Justin
I have not been able to watch an entire inning of any game due to the constant re-buffering, this has become more frequent during the past week, frankly it is becoming annoying.
where can I test my internet connection? I know you posted something regarding this weeks ago, but given the amount of posts I rahter ask you for instructions.
Hello , this isnt mosaic realted but when I go to mlb.com homepage instead of the picture thingy in the middle and the headline corner all I am getting is a big greybox . Anybody know a way to fix this?
@Mosaic
Thanks for a good sunday of watching Baseball!! The program worked great for me today and I hope it will stay that way…. The people who still have problems should check there computer and not blame it on you.
I have a MAC compatibility question. Late last year I had been beta testing a version of MAC OX 10.5 (Leopard) and an earlier version of MLB Mosiac which had been released for the MAC at that time. It worked fine for MAC 10.4 but it would not run under MAC 10.5. I eventually stopped using the beta of leopard as a result of this issue. My question is does this current build of Mosaic run under MAC OS 10.5
@ Carlos
The ad on the top left will take yo to the bandwidth tester. This link make work as well.
http://mlb.mlb.com/tools/bandwidthdetect/index.html
Who do I contact about my credit card being charged $29? That is $10 more than I was supposed to be charged!
Isn’t that illegal?
Any suggestions thomas843? I want to watch baseball too!
I’m on a Mac, 2.16 duo core, 2gb ram, OS X 10.4.9. It’s been out of the box for about 2 months. My bandwidth has been tested by many different sites, including my ISP directly, all saying I’m over 3000kbps. I’m using the “Flip4Mac” plugin.
Forgive me if I sound frustrated, but I am. I’ve “checked my computer” for the past two weeks, as you suggest. I’ve been on the phone to the help line for hours, and have written several emails.
I don’t think those of us having trouble are trying to “lay blame”. We are simply trying to get what we paid for.
Do you work at MLB by any chance?
@kimqjohnst
Sorry I wish I could help you but I dont know anything about Mac’s, have a PC. The only thing I can tell you that for me the biggest problem was my firewall,it would not let the program acess the internet for the longest time and that caused the constant buffering and lock ups, I think.
No I dont work for MLB.
Justin: RE: Status Update Monday 8:52am CDT
Just checked Mosaic this morning, and you need to check that server which is giving trouble on middle video quality settings. I am connecting fine at lowest AND highest quality settings this morning, but getting constant stream error messages then Network stream error messages after 3 tries at the middle quality level. Looks like that same server problem as we had a few days ago on the middle quality level.
Secondly, here’s a hint that may help some of your users having various problems connecting. For several days I had been deleting swarmcast from my startup file, AND deleting the icon in the task bar each time I exited Mosaic, thinking that swarmcast would be reloaded the next time I opened Mosaic. What I found was that after doing this 2 or 3 times successfully, the next time I tried to open Mosaic, I would get a message that swarmcast was “Listening” to other computers trying to load, then that swarmcast had “CHANGED” since the last time it was run, then I had to accept a new security warning level for swarmcast, then Mosaic actually tried to open, but would stay in the “CONNECTING” mode forever, never actually connecting at any of the 3 quality levels I would try. The only way to fix this was to completely uninstall Mosaic and swarmcast, and start over from scratch. Since I did this the last time several days ago (reloaded from scratch), I have left swarmcast in my startup file, and have left the icon in the task bar whenever I exit Mosaic, and the results have been remarkable, I have not had a single instance of Mosaic not loading correctly. The problem at the middle quality level this morning is not a failure of Mosaic itself as it is working fine in the lowest and highest levels. I thought this might help those having connecting problems. Tell them to try leaving swarmcast alone in the startup file and task bar and see if that helps their problem.
I’m still having trouble in Mosaic. It keeps rebuffering every time i’m in the 4/6 viewing screens. Also, the audio and video are out of sync. Is anybody else having this problem? I’m on a MAC version 10.4.9 I’ved tested my bandwith a bunch of times. install and unistall Mosaic many times and still keep getting the same problems. Plus, I have the right A204.
@ jdelgado@patcity.com
We do not support the Beta version of Mac OS 10.5 We will work to ensure it does function under the final release of 10.5
@ ro290190@yahoo.co.uk
Sounds like you need to install Flash plugin for your web browser
@ thomas843@sc.rr.com
Thanks Thomas your check is in the mail (-wink-)
@ laman400@yahoo.com
Thank you for that info. I agree that for best results you should leave the settings as they are when installed. You must have swarmcast running for Medium and High quality. There was a problem on Friday with one of the swarmcast servers but it was quickly fixed. Glad to hear your up and running.
@ lasar2001
What is the processor and video memory of the system you are running on?
@mosaic
where do I go to see what my processor and video memory are? Remember I’m on a MAC OSX version 10.4.9
@mosaic
My processor is 1.9 GHz Power PC G5 and Memory is 512 MB
