New Build Available: A208

Hi all,
We’ve been off the air for a bit from a build perspective, but released a new one for you this morning. It includes updates in the following area:

– Swarmcast updates/bugfixes for better high quality streaming
– Addition of Swarmcast version for troubleshooting
– Video updates to mosaic client/install to detect incompatible hardware
– Mac stability/bugfixes
– CPU usage is now better on the Mac
– Additional on-demand playback updates

Again, we appreciate all of your feedback. The engineering team and I are continuing to work with you all via the threads here to provide support, and we’re also in parallel now working on getting a support forum set up to consolidate what we all have learned and shared with you.

Thanks,

Justin

With the new 4:3 ratio, after exiting fullscreen mode, Mosaic doesn’t properly resize itself.

Here is what I’m talking about with links to photographs:

When I open Mosaic it fills my screen:

    http://img355.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img0175bh2.jpg

Then I click on a single game and Mosaic still fills my screen:

    http://img253.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img0172fm5.jpg

Then I click fullscreen and when I exit, there are borders down the side:

    http://img459.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img0173sq9.jpg

Then I go back to 6-game mode and I still have borders:

    http://img341.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img0176hb3.jpg

Please fix this so the program resets itself when I exit fullscreen. Also, bring back true fullscreen so I can enjoy Mosaic again. Watching the games in boxes is not cool. It wasn’t bad at all for stretching as far as I am concerned. A lot of others commented the same thing in the comments for under the 205 post.

  2. mosaic@website.mlb.com

    @hogan:

Thanks, it’s actually odd that the initial screen comes up stretched like it does. I’ll have to test and figure out that case. The other views with the black bars are the app running in the correct aspect ratio.

  3. hogan_disciple@hotmail.com

The 4/6 box views looked really squished with the bars down the side. I just want it to return to the way it is when it opens. The larger the small boxes, the easier to view

  4. herlippy1@aol.com

    @ Mosaic

With this new update, I’m actually getting the highest quality level. It is freezing a bit, but considering my video card is on the list of unsupported ones. It doing very well. Picture is great, in all areas..:)

    Thanks..!!!

  5. hogan_disciple@hotmail.com

For whatever reason, I am getting true fullscreen again 🙂 Only problem is the blue windows bar won’t disappear at the top.

Here’s some pictures of true fullscreen. Look at these and see if you can tell me watching a game in 4:3 looks better then true fullscreen:

    http://img408.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img0177tw7.jpg

    http://img138.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img0180ho2.jpg

    http://img393.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img0184tz6.jpg

I really don’t see much distortion of anything funny going on in the picture on my end. That’s why I would rather see the program give us a true fullscreen option.

Anyways, whatever is going on with Mosaic that it stays true fullscreen right now, I like it. I won’t be closing the program for a long time.

  6. gibsonj@mts.net

i can’t get any picture in any of the six boxes.

    The sound is garbage.

My computer has more than the minimum requirements with the latest drivers.

I get the message: Unable to connect. Try a different quality level. I have it set to its lowest. How low are you supposed to go? radio?

You guys have to admit this is buggy, unreliable and overpriced.

    Do you give refunds?

  7. thackett@mac.com

With the new update, I am receiveing more buffering than ever and “Stream Error, Retrying” messages are constant. I guess it’s back to the single-game mode.

    (MacBook Pro, 2.33 GHZ, 2GB RAM, OS X 10.4.9)

  8. thackett@mac.com

Okay, here’s a new one. The Sox-Blue Jay game says it’s archived; however, all I get is the MLB.tv guy doing a looping preview. Any suggestions?

  9. christopher.elke@mnsu.edu

The video quality of this new update is by far the best I have seen thus far this spring, which is great.

However, my one complaint is that I have to minimize mosaic in order to view any other windows. This wasn’t the case with any of the other builds that have been released. Hopefully this can be fixed, otherwise everything is good!

  10. hogan_disciple@hotmail.com

    @Thackett,

I am running an AMD 3500, ATI Radeon X700 (256) and a gig of ram. It’s not a super powerful computer but enough to do what I want as I don’t game with it.

I have my computer connected to my Samsung 46-inch 1080p LCD via VGA port. Might see about getting an HDMI video hookup sometime soon.

As I’ve said from the get-go, I was very-pleased with the true fullscreen with my setup. My tv has a button to convert everything to 4:3 if I want but I prefer viewing widescreen for computer programs. TV programming is a different deal.

  11. drdr00d@gmail.com

Everything seems to work fine, except every 10-30 seconds, all the video goes into slo-mo, then after a second, it goes into fast motion to catch up to where it was.

Any suggestions for how to fix this? I tried upping the task priority, but the act of doing that breaks the video playback completely.

This is on XP Pro BTW. 2ghz P4, 768 megs ram, GeForce 6600 GT.

  12. thackett@mac.com

    @hogan_disciple@hotmail.com

Thanks for the info. What speed connection do you have? I think that may be the key to it all. My system is two weeks old, so I know it’s not the system.

  13. thackett@mac.com

    @Mosaic

I think it would be quite efficient to have a more inclusive FAQ than just labeling a section, “The MLB.TV Mosaic is acting strange…” There seems to be quite a few of us having issues that if we could read former complaints and remedies that others have proposed. Scrolling through 100+posts is not the most efficient method of problem solving.

  14. hogan_disciple@hotmail.com

    @thackett,

I have a 10Mbps cable account. Doing the MLB speed test, I get a result of around 8,000kps.

You can find the test in the “Useful links” section on the left.

  15. mnitk@optonline.net

After downloading the new build i have the same issue as hogan_disciple@hotmail.com from the first post did/does. i lost my fullscreen…i have a dark 2 inch border on the left and right side in all formats. i did not see a fix just a …its all fixed now type deal. Any thoughts as to how i can my fullscreen back?
its a great product and thanks for the hard work!

  16. dsb9712@aol.com

By eliminating the true full screen, what’s the purpose of showing a game in widescreen? The picture has black borders on all sides, basically making it a smaller picture. Not an enjoyable viewing experience.

  17. thackett@mac.com

    @Mosaic

Okay, now it’s just getting comical. I can access the archived games on my MacBook Pro, but when I try to access the archived games on my iMac that I use as TV, I keep getting the loop Baseball Channel Preview. Any thoughts?

  18. hogan_disciple@hotmail.com

    @thackett,

There is a bar below the video window and you can fast forward by clicking the bar.

  19. thackett@mac.com

    @Mosaic

I had to trash Mosaic on my iMac and reload the program. All is well. Off to watch the Sox.

  20. thackett@mac.com

    @hogan_disciple@hotmail.com

Tried that. But it wasn’t the Blue Jays pregrame, so there was anything I could FF to. It was the loop pregame that MLB.tv provides. However, I did a trash of Mosaic, reinstall, and now all is well. Still, I am envious of your picture. I may have to look into different levels of mbs from my Internet provider.

  21. lists@markmuir.com

    @Mosaic:

As I mentioned a few days ago, I had no problems with Mosaic once the initial problem was solved two weeks ago (audio drivers needed to be loaded).

I haven’t been using my home computer much in last week or so, but I *still* have the newer problem of Mosaic stuck at “Connecting” that suddenly happened during one of the build updates, I believe.

    http://img258.imageshack.us/img258/3164/connectingav3.jpg

As one of the suggested solutions was to look and make sure UPnP was enabled, here’s my snapshot of my Windows Firewall:

    http://img297.imageshack.us/img297/2850/firewallqm7.jpg

I did have some connectivity troubles last week (bandwidth test was under 300 kbps!!!) so I didn’t try for a few days.

(Related to that, I remember downloading Mosaic again that same night and the 15MB download took a good 2 minutes while I had downloaded a couple of minutes beforehand a HP printer driver file of 160MB that took only 4-5 minutes so it told me it was not really my side…)

Just recently, I tested bandwidth again and it is now 2418 kbps, which was/is typical. Just tried again, 2537 kbps.

Do you want me to do a tracert or something? Let me know.

  22. marcusd8@aol.com

Is there a launch day when I can sign on here, get a download, and have the product i pay for work, instead of steadily get worse?

  23. xeptwon@yahoo.com

Help, me out, When I Loaded my MLB Mosaic today it finally came up Minimized and when I attempt to Maximize it I just get a completely black screen. I closed it out and then tried to re-load it and nothing came up at all. Just said Launching Player, but nothing happens. anyone else with this problem?

  24. rogerbangert@comcast.net

Justin,my biggest problem is the 2 second audio delay with the video in all portals of the Mosaic Feature. This is really annoying. I have a DellXPS410 with Windows Vista Home Premium,Explorer 7,Media Player 11,and Microsoft.Net Framework 3.0. Are you addressing this problem? Can I do anything on my end? Please respond to this comment.

  25. timmygunz@gmail.com

Can someone tell me why it is when I try and watch an archived game and jump to a certain inning, it just goes back to the start of the game? I’m using the Mac version. Is this a bug?

  26. kholmgren@juno.com

I also have the problem referenced by xeptowon. When my system was updated today, all I get is a small 2″ screen showing the six games and if I click on it to change a game it opens up mlb.com. If I maximize it it just goes black.

  27. bmfc1@comcast.net

“I also have the problem referenced by xeptowon. When my system was updated today, all I get is a small 2″ screen showing the six games and if I click on it to change a game it opens up mlb.com. If I maximize it it just goes black.”

Really no issues until this same thing happened last night. I checked this morning and the problem persists.

  28. java_cgi_hunter@yahoo.ca

This latest build has given me lots of problems as well.
Black screen when maximized..more buffering..pausing then speeding up to catch up. It also seems to use up more CPU.

Nothing has changed with my system. Tried rebooting and reinstalling.

Is there anyway I can revert back to the previous release?

  29. alicea_peter@yahoo.com

I cant get Mosaic to open any games. at the top it indicated connecting, but it never open the games…

  30. o.g.dominik@gmx.de

Everything worked fine for me before the two latest updates. Now, I can’t even watch anything (game highlights, archived games, top plays, etc.), there’s only endless buffering.

  31. jfriedman@tulane.edu

I noticed that, by accident, i was able to view one game in single view mode but with a small window showing another game in the top left hand corner. I do not know how I did it and cannot replicate it. Is this functionality now available. I did this after downloading Build A208

  32. mosaic@website.mlb.com

    @ Hogan
The problem is you are going from Maximized to full screen, and there is a bug in on that. To avoid the bug resize the window then go full screen. The Mosaic is not returning to its last state when that state is Maximized.

    @ Refunds

    http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/help/contact_us.jsp

Send them a note if you wish to be refunded.

    @ thackett@mac.com

We fixed that in an update. You can click forward in the little bar under the video to advance past the 30min of into video.

    @ christopher.elke@mnsu.edu

That sounds like the Mosaic has been set to be always on top. Any applications that might be setting this for you? The mosaic by default does not do this, though many have requested it. Perhaps an application detects video playback and assumes you want it on top. Again not functionality built into the mosaic.

    @ thackett@mac.com

I know the blog is not the best solution, but it’s what we got for now. I am working on a forum that will really improve things for us all.

    @lists@markmuir.com

Do you have a router? That is where you need to enable UDP and UPnP. I have found windows firewall to not prevent the mosaic from running, unless blocked. Try connecting directly to the modem. Low stream does not use swarmcast so it is not a software issue if you cant connect on low.

With Mosaic running try the following

    – Select Start

    – Select Run

    – Type in ?CMD?

    – At the DOS prompt type in ?netstat ?b?

It will display a list of programs running with the ports they are using.

See what ports MLB Mosiac and Swarmcast are using. Feel free to email me with a screen shot.

    @ xeptwon@yahoo.com

Sounds like a video display issue. Send me your DXDIAG

Can you please do the following?

    – Click on [Start]

    – Click on [Run]

    – In the [Run] line type “DXDIAG” (no quotes).

    – A DirectX dialog window will open.

    – On that dialog will be a “Save all information as” button.

    – Click that button and save the information as: ?your_Name.TXT? to the Desktop

    – Reply to this email and attach the file you just saved to the desktop. Once we get the file we will be able to see where the problem lies.

    @ rogerbangert@comcast.net

That happens, just not very often. A lot of factors can cause it, again email me your DXDIAG and I can take a look at your system see if there are any obvious issues.

    @ timmygunz@gmail.com

Not all games have this feature. However if the features is not available you should get a message box stating that. Please post the game you were watching and I can take a look. Or email me and I’ll verify on my end.

    @ kholmgren@juno.com

Just reinstall the Mosaic. This is a rare issue with Vista, and a old version installed before the Vista fixes.

    @ java_cgi_hunter@yahoo.ca

No way to roll back. From my records I see that you are using a video card that does not support DX9 so that will continue to be an issue as you use the Mosaic.

    @ bmfc1@comcast.net

    Email me the DXDIAG

    @ alicea_peter@yahoo.com

    Email me your DXDIAG

    @ jfriedman@tulane.edu

    No its a bug.

    @ re buffering

    Visit http://www.dslreports.com/tools

Do some speed tests, look over the tweaks. Lots of good information about how things work on the web.

  33. mosaic@website.mlb.com

Just saw the mosaic go “on top” and it wont go behind other windows. Also appears the line scores for archive games are at least an inning off. We’ll get those things fixed up soon.

  34. dom2114@gmail.com

Trying to watch the StLouis Cubs game and it will only let me watch it in the 4/6 screen mode, not the single game mode

  35. asar2001@yahoo.com

Well, the new update seemed to help me on the 4/6 viewer. Instead of rebuffering every 10 seconds it rebuffers every 40 seconds now. But, it holds for the 40 seconds in the medium video quality. The high quality level is unwatchable it still rebuffers every 10 seconds in the 4/6 viewing screen. It’s an improvement but is still annoying when it rebuffers. Plus, the medium video quality is not that great. Are their still things being done to correct the rebuffering for the 4/6 viewing screen in medium and high quality video? I use a MAC version OSX 10.4.9 I have FLIP4MAC, Processor is 1.9 GHz Power PC G5, Memory is 512 MB.

  36. marxnyy@optonline.net

    I am using the latest build on a MacBookPro 233 w/OS X 10.4.9

    1. I couldn’t sign on with Safari, I had to use Firefox. Is there a Safari problem?

    2. With the old build, and the new (I just upgraded 10 minutes ago), today’s Cubs-Cardinals game doesn’t show up at all as an option. All the other games are listed. I was able to sign in by clicking the video link on the MLB.com scoreboard page. That takes me into the regular video feed, not mosaic. Is there any reason why the game won’t show up on Mosaic?

  37. asar2001@yahoo.com

    @marxnyy
I’m using the latest build also and the Cubs/Cards game doesn’t show up on Mosaic on my end either. Do you have any problems with the video in Mosaic rebuffering?

  38. mosaic@website.mlb.com

Nothing obviously wrong, looking into it deeper. Sorry everyone. I wanted to watch this game too.

  39. mosaic@website.mlb.com

    @ asar2001@yahoo.com
How much video memory do you have on your video card?

    @ Marxynn

Yea the Mac version isn’t showing the Cubs game at all. We are aware of this and working on it now.

The web streams are your best bet for this game.

  40. asar2001@yahoo.com

    @Mosaic
How do i tell how much video memory i have in my video card? Where do I go in my MAC for this?

  41. marxnyy@optonline.net

I’ve been using the highest quality with the old version. Forme, the rebuffering has not been as bad as you have it. It rebuffers once in a while, no set pattern. Sometimes it goes for a long time without rebuffering at all. There have been only a few annoying outages. I do have 2 gigs of memory to your 512 MB. That might have an effect. The techs here will know better.

BTW, I don’t think that Flip4Mac has any bearing on Mosaic.

  42. asar2001@yahoo.com

    @marxnyy
I mean I have all the requirements to run Mosaic. It’s just getting annoying everytime it rebuffers. Do you think the problem is my MAC?

  43. mosaic@website.mlb.com

Click on the Apple icon, Select “About this Mac”
For video card information Select “more info” then select “Graphics / Display”

  44. mosaic@website.mlb.com

Yes, flip4mac is required for the Mosaic, and a BIG yes to 2GB vs 512MB affecting performance. 512MB is the least amount of memory you can have to have the mosaic function. To have it function well, you will want more in every category.

    Recommended System would be

    2GHz Processor

    1GB Memory

    128MB video memory

  45. asar2001@yahoo.com

    @mosaic
ok, thanks for the help. This is what it says. Let me know if I’m using the right video card.

    Asar:
I have no idea about your Mac. I can tell you that when I was using my old G4 667 PowerBook during spring training, the picture quality was inferior to my new machine, and did have to rebuffer more often (using the regulsr mlb.tv link). I have no frame of reference for Mosaic because it wouldn’t work on that system.

  47. asar2001@yahoo.com

    @mosaic
Ok, but the problem that I have is that when I read the requirements before I signed up for Mosaic is that the Processor, the Memory, and Video Memory wasn’t mentioned as a requirement. If it was then I overlooked it. All I saw was, that this year it’s MAC compatible, you need, a certain bandwith, you need Safari or Firefox, you need Windows Media Player or Flash Player. Now after I sign up for it, there seems to be more requirements.

  48. asar2001@yahoo.com

I mean, thousands of people were having problems with Mosaic at the beginning, and I bet that they didn’t know anything about video card and memory and all that stuff.

  49. hogan_disciple@hotmail.com

How come I can’t view games in single-game mode today? I double-click on the Cubs-Cards game and Mosaic doesn’t respond.

I can see it in 4/6 mode but Mosaic won’t respond to my attempts to go to single-game mode.

    Also,

    @ Hogan

The problem is you are going from Maximized to full screen, and there is a bug in on that. To avoid the bug resize the window then go full screen. The Mosaic is not returning to its last state when that state is Maximized.

Is this bug you speak of going to be fixed. and bring back true fullscreen.

  50. rhopkinson@mts.net

the single game mode is not working right now. i can only watch the cubs game on the six game screen. my mosaic is completely updated too. whats up?

  51. kapnasty@gmail.com

New build and even more problems than before. A 2″ screen that cant be resized or maximized. Live games not showing up. This is just getting ridiculous; and I bet MLB isn’t even considering any kind of compensation for their paying customers.

  52. davsalza@aol.com

I have spent hours speaking with the help desk with no result. My Mosaic worked fine untill yesterday, now I receive an error message that states the following:Couldn’t read TVScript Application from C:/ProgramData/MLB TV Mosaic/ TVScriptApp/mlb_broadband_ondemand_2007.qcb:
Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from call to COM component.

    Any suggestions?

  53. rhopkinson@mts.net

where’s the help? gone home for the day? answer all posts til 3 then nothing. the cubs game is in the ninth now. i think mlb should seriously consider giving all of us a discount for being the guinea pigs for this so called revolutionary technology. there is no way they should be charging what they are for what is basically a beta program. just my two cents.

  54. mosaic@website.mlb.com

I should say working now just in time for the 9th inning.. Go Cubbies.. the game is not FIX as in rigged..

  55. mosaic@website.mlb.com

My understanding is TRUE full screen will not return until we have the feature to turn it on or off.

  56. bmfc1@comcast.net

The small screen problem persists. When I maximize, I get nothing. When I click on a screen while in small screen mode, I get mlb.com.

    Two days of this nonsense.

  57. bmfc1@comcast.net

My teenage son has it exactly right: why would mlb or anybody charge so much for a work-in-progress? All of these issues should have been worked out from Opening Day or the service should be free for a month while they get the bugs worked out.

  58. oegsud@yahoo.com

When I first turn on the mosaic everything is working fine. I can switch back and forth from x6 to x4 to x1.I can select the games I want by doing the dragging bit, with no problems at all. At this point I can rival the quality of the person who put the pictures in their comment. My problems start to happen when I start double clicking on the small screens going across the top of the page to select a game to watch on X1. Right now all but one screen is blue. Clicking on these screens right now, you get the message that the game you have selected is currently not live etc, etc, etc. I have been experimenting by clicking on these screens for the past hour or so. These things work erratically. Sometimes, they will work and you get the message. If you double click on these things long enough switching from game to game, all the controlls on the front panel will lock up. Sometimes it takes 3 or 4 double clicks other times it may take 8 or 10 double clicks. But it will eventually lock up the controlls. When I say lock up the controls I mean x1,x4,x6.Teams,Preferences and the little screens them selves etc. When this happens you have to close mosaic and reload it from the desktop icon. You don’t have to uninstall/reinstall.Sometimes you get error messages and sometimes you don’t.

The STL/CUBS game just finished. Their was a brief time between when the game finished and when I was able to get the message that said the game selected is not currently live etc, etc. During this brief time I was getting the buffering error, retrying message when double clicking on the little screen

This brings us to the Boss buttton, why ever the **** that’s on their for. When you click this button,a web page comes up, but you also close down the Mosaic.

  59. pat@thepirtles.com

There is a bug in the Cardinals/Cubs archive. Not sure if it is in other archives or not. The game is listed as 2:37:44 long. I wanted to watch the last half inning. So I drag the slider at the bottom to the very end. At 2:37:44 (supposedly the very end) it is the top of the ninth. There is no way that I can see to pull the tab any further. So now I have to wait until the top of the ninth finishes. The clock is already 3 minutes past the supposedly length of the game (2:40:05/2:37:44).

  60. mosaic@website.mlb.com

    @ oegsud@yahoo.com
Nothing on the mosaic requires a double click. You click once to select and again to enter. If your machine is on the low end it may be responding slowly to your clicks and “lagging” behind. I will try to reproduce the issue you are seeing, but so far it has not been a problem. When a game is over there is a time when it’s state is over, (no new users can click into the game) but you can still be in single game watching the game. That is just how it works for now.

  61. newerror81@hotmail.com

after a great day yesterday, Mosaic is totally screwed up today. I have the big MLBTV logo backdropped behing the 6 screen in low resolution and can’t get the udpater to work. Sheesh !!!

    RE:
My understanding is TRUE full screen will not return until we have the feature to turn it on or off.

    Posted by: mosaic@website.mlb.com | April 20, 2007 06:04 PM

When will that feature be applied. Sooner then later I hope.

Also, the timing of the player alerts has been off the last week. Saying a player is on deck long after they had their at bat.

  63. newerror81@hotmail.com

Ok, now I see there was another build and I downloaded mosaic again and its working again. I didn’t realize there was another update. I hope this fixes it for a while.

  64. buckeyes12005@yahoo.com

I too have to minimize Mosaic to be able to see any other windows or even my tool bar. I really hate that so as soon as you guys can fix that the better.

  65. xeptwon@yahoo.com

how do i download it again, i deleted it, and now i need to re-install, can someone help me out, when i go to MLB premium, its askin gme to buy it again (yeah Right). Someone help me out please!!

  66. hogan_disciple@hotmail.com

    @xeptwon,

Mosaic download link is located to the left.

As for buying premium again, MLB had a problem where autorenewal accounts are being turned off by accident. Happened to me and I called customer service they said my account was closed, and creditcard refunded. I had to re-buy the thing.

You will be able to tell if your account closed if the webplayer asks you to buy premium and if you get directed to MLB.com purchase page when you try to access single games in mosaic.

ok hogan thanks, I do not think they killed my subscription because i still can see all 6 games and hear them, and when i click on a game it tales me to the MLB.com Homepage, but not to the purchase screen. also i noticed when i use the arrow keys i can bounce around the mosaic but when i hit enter, i get a small screen inside a larger big screen. This thing is driving me crazy. last question how do i un-install what i have now so i can re-install the new one thanks again

  69. sdhager@email.com

    @Mac users unhappy with Mosaic

For mac users that only want to watch single games and are unhappy with Mosaic, I would recommend not using it. Instead use Quicktime Player. This works much better for me. It allows me to watch games in Full Screen and I can eleminate the 4-sided border on 16:9 games so they fit exactly on my 16:9 tv. And also timeshift.

    Here is what I do:

-Open Flip4Mac control panel in System prefs.

-Click Launch Quicktime player under the plug-in tab

-Click on the stream you want here: http://mlb.mlb.com/mediacenter/index.jsp

-The stream will open in Quicktime

    -Present movie in Fullscreen

You can also timeshift this way. Pause/REW/FF etc.

I normally wait 20mins or so and then skip commercial breaks. Aren’t you guys sick of PacMan?

Here is an AppleScript I wrote to automatically skip ahead 1min 45sec:

    tell application “QuickTime Player”

    set SkipAheadMins to 1.75

set OldTime to the current time of movie 1

set the current time of movie 1 to (OldTime + (SkipAheadMins * 60 * the (time scale of movie 1)))

    end tell

Paste that into an AppleScript file and save as app. put it in dock, use for every commercial break. You can change the 1.75 in the script if you want to change the skip interval.

To Zoom in on 16:9 content to “remove” letter box Zoom in with your mighty mouse or open the Univeral Access Control Panel in Sys prefs and turn on Zoom under the seeing tab.

For those that want to stretch 4:3 content to fill your screen you can probably do that using the Quicktime Player as well. I have not tried this becuase i think it looks TERRIBLE! 🙂

  70. thackett@mac.com

    @Mosaic

Guys, thanks for all your work. I know you’re receiving heaps of contempt, but tonight Mosaic looks as good as it ever has. Not one odd frame, no audio sync woes, commercial timed properly.

Just wanted to give you some props. Well done.

  71. mosaic@website.mlb.com

I agree, those green jersey’s are nice looking. Thanks for the happy post, those are always appreciated. Looks like the Sox need a few runs tho.. 😦

    Have a good weekend all!

  72. oeuftete@yahoo.com

Another fullscreen-related issue. If I start Mosaic, load up a game, go to fullscreen, then back to windowed, the window is now always on top of all other windows.

I don’t recall this happening before, and I would have done the same thing before.

  73. oegsud@yahoo.com

I must have a different Mosaic then. I’m in X6 mode and I’m talking about the 16 icons that go across the top of the screen,Baseball Channel TV being the last one. When you click on these once, you get a second little icon that you can drag down to one of the 6 viewing screens. You can select any six games and put them on any one of the six screens. If there is a game already on one of the screens ,you can change the game by dragging the little icon over it. This part I never had any problems with.
However, when you double click on these little icon’s, it takes the game you clicked on into X1 mode.

If you keep changing the game by double clicking on the little icons, sooner or later all the controls on the front panel will lock up.The audio/video remains ok. You can’t change anything any more It’s irratic as to how many times you have to change the games. I just reinstalled Mosaic and I just duplicated the problem several times.

  74. dols@68k.org

so i ran into a confusing problem. i left my internet explorer in offline mode when i started up mosaic. i couldn’t figure out why none of the streams were working.. well, it was because of the offline mode. when i tried to hit a web page in IE, it asked if you want to connect, connected, and mosaic started to work again.

  75. csherwood@comcast.net

My problems are completely fixed!! The problem was that my laptop’s power management program was not giving 100% to my CPU. Anyone with a laptop or a computer with power management software that is experiencing problems should check this!!!!

  76. mpbaltimoreravens@gmail.com

One thing I’ve noticed, mosaic on both high and medium is working almost perfectly with the new build, I’m very pleased with that. HOWEVER THE SINGLE GAME STREAMS NEED TO BE FIXED! IT IS VERY FRUSTRATING TO HAVE FREEZING EVERY COUPLE MINUTES! Please work on this.

  77. pevans66@madisontelco.com

When trying to go from full screen back to a smaller window, I’m getting a browser that’s about four inches by three inches. When I click on the ‘expand button, the browser fills the screen, but the video window stays the same size.

And can you stop the pointless popup telling me I haven’t had any Mosaic activity in a while? I haven’t because I’M TRYING TO WATCH A GAME.

  79. newerror81@hotmail.com

Balitimore. It’s working for me but I also am getting the freezing in single games every other pitch. Yesterday was the best Mosaic worked for me until the new build. Very little if any freezing.

  80. skaus@pacbell.net

Today I uninstalled Mosaic and reinstalled it.

It still says “loading” after I double-click and won’t do anything else. I sent the diagnostic information as requested a couple of weeks ago and never heard anything back.

    Help.

  81. kddrew37@hotmail.com

I have the same problem as davsalza@aol.com. Then I uninstall and reinstall the program. It works fine then until I exit out of it. Then the next time I try to log into it it tells me it is unable to read tvscrip application.

  82. kddrew37@hotmail.com

I fixed my own problem. I run mosaic as an administrator and it lets me log right in. I would like to have true full screen though.

  83. davsalza@aol.com

Once again I can not get Mosaic to open. I receive the same error message as I reported yesterday. I also tried the link mosaic provided which launched and opened. However, once I exit I can not reopen unless I reinstall. I did not sign up for this product to install and reinstall every time I want to watch some games.

  84. xeptwon@yahoo.com

its early morning, i uninstalled and reinstalled and things look good, lets see what happens when the games start and i start bouncing around from game to game to follw my team.

Thanks Hogan for the helpful hints!

  85. bmfc1@comcast.net

Watching the Mets, single game. I clicked on the higher bar for video quality but the game kept freezing. OK in lower quality mode.

  86. crawjo@gmail.com

Okay, so I was doing fine with this until the latest update, when I got the same issue many have mentioned here, namely the minimized screen that when you enlarge just goes to a black screen. Useless. So I followed the advice and reinstalled, and now when I try to load it just gives me a series of “Unhandled exceptions” that result in nothing other than a dark screen again. Please fix this. These updates seem to cause more problems than they fix, at least for me.

  87. mgmpbd@yahoo.com

    Please:
    1. Get rid of the pop up saying there has been no activity. It’s unnecessary and annoying.

    2. Bring back true full screen. Or at least give us an option.

    3. Continue improving the image quality, especially in multi-game view.

    4. Continue to work on audio/video sync problems.

    5. Sync the game feed with the “Game Status” tab’s balls/strikes/outs.

    6. Get rid of the pop up saying there has been no activity. It’s unnecessary and annoying.

    7. Get rid of the pop up saying there has been no activity. It’s unnecessary and annoying.

    8. Get rid of the pop up saying there has been no activity. It’s unnecessary and annoying.

    9. Get rid of the pop up saying there has been no activity. It’s unnecessary and annoying.

    Thanks!

  88. pmacgovern@blueyonder.co.uk

    @pevans66@madisontelco.com:

I have to agree with this one – I can’t watch a game in the background without me clicking on the window once and a while. And why should it have to reconnect? I missed A-Rod’s second home run last night.

Other than that – I love it. I am a Sox fan in London, and this is the only way I can see any games. Will national blackouts affect those in other countries? I hope not!

  89. photo@bgu.ac.il

Well, I’m happy to say that things have been working quite well for me for quite a few days.
Been watching complete games with little to no rebuffering. The main problem I am having with Mosaic is the Audio sync – got fed up today during the Mets game and switched to watching via the website.

Also, is there any chance that the broadcast could be extended to include Pre and Post game shows?

  90. jtbaker_77@yahoo.com

04/21/07 For starters I understand this program is new, and I do enjoy watching the games, but I’ll report anything that needs improvement. Is the Cubs / Cards game still on Preview status for anyone else? The game can only be watched on the smaller screens.

  91. rhopkinson@mts.net

i cannot watch the cubs game in single game mode for the second day in a row but the three other games on right now i can. please fix this. thanks, rh

  92. jhew80012@comcast.net

Someone please explain to me how a national blackout is applied to a regional brodacast. Thanks to the “wisdom” of MLB and FOX I am precluded from watching the Red Sox-Yankees today. But, oooh, lucky me, because I live in Colorado, I can watch the Cubs and Cardinals. Are you freakin’ kidding me? What a Joke!!!! It seems to me that while MLB has licensed their product to FOX, MLB has the obligation to either assure Fox broadcasts those blacked out games nationally or lift the restriction. Make no mistake, this isn’t about one game on one day. This is about me, a paying subscriber, being disserviced for an entire season of Saturdays. Further and without exception, Fox baseball broadcasts are about as exciting as watching Congress on C-Span. Most disturbing of all is that this Saturday policy was never mentioned to subscribers prior to the season. I paid for ALL “out of market” games (as advertised) which this clearly is. Out of market means not in the local area or region where coverage is generally available for a specific team. The way this was marketed is tantamount to FRAUD!!!!!!. FOX, Dish network; Maybe it’s time for for Senator Kerry and the rest of Congress to look into MLB’ anti-trust exemption!

  93. jgjgjg23@cox.net

What?s most frustrating to me about the inconsistency policy regarding the Saturday blackouts. The first week all games before 7pm were blacked out. Last week the only game blacked out was the one Fox game available in my local market (my out-of market Fox games were not blacked out and available). This week all 4pm Fox games are blacked out. The policy states all nationally televised games will be blacked out. The regional games on Fox are not nationally televised so why are they blacked out. Someone needs to explain the policy to us. Do not just post a link with the policy, please explain why each week different games are blacked out and why is there an inconsistency.

  94. cubs17fan17@aol.com

I do not get why some games are blacked out and some are not. Games that aren’t even on fox in any region sometimes are and other times aren’t. Most of the time, I have to watch these NL west games because I live in an NL west market. It also seems like this product gets worse with every update

  95. hagedorn@spinfo.uni-koeln.de

The linescore feature seems to get confused sometimes. I’m watching the Red Sox-Yankees game and even thoung it’s in the 8th inning, the linescore is stuck in the 6th. In the log I see this message that seems to be related:

ERROR MlbDb – refreshLineScore called when monitored game inactive

The game *was* inactive, but then I “activated” it again. Maybe the state change isn’t handled correctly.

  96. rogerbangert@comcast.net

To anyone having audio delay with mosaic: Please respond to this comment and indicate whether your operating on Windows Vista or something different. It might help mosaic identify and solve the problem.

  97. cwgraffix@hotmail.com

I will pay another $120 if you get rid of the pacman… and that stadium time-out music. You are doing my head in! 😦

  98. csherwood@comcast.net

Agreed about Pac-Man being annoying — unless they could add a way for us to actually control the guy and play the game during commercials 🙂

  99. hogan_disciple@hotmail.com

When can we get an explanation on how the commercial thing works. I know it’s not a specific mosaic issue but I’m getting sick of missing at-bats at keys parts of games and you guys gotta try and help us out.

Tonight, bases loaded with no outs in Milwaukee, they call in a reliever and the Pac-Man thing was displayed for the whole next batter.

By the time the screen disappeared, there was one out and the next batter was stepping up.

This is beginning to drive me crazy. I pay money to watch baseball, not f’n pac-man.

  100. michael.kallstrom@wku.edu

I have given up on Mosaic. To PC users: you can open multiple screens from MLB.TV by hitting Ctrl-N and then re-sizing the screens. I open four or five at time and it works much better than Mosaic but it is admittedly more difficult to swith the audio from one game to another.

  101. sdhager@email.com

Mac users can also open multiple streams simultaneously in the Quicktime Player. Audio can be controlled by selecting the “Play sound in frontmost player only” option in the prefs. The only downside in this method over Mosaic is that you won’t get alerts for players that have already batted;)

  102. lavie@cdlavie.net

jhew80012@comcast.net, I agree that the Saturday blackouts make absolutely no sense. I had the opposite problem of you–I live in Florida and I wanted to see the World Champion Cardinals play our arch-rivals, but that was blacked out on MLB.TV. Instead, I got to watch the Yankees and the red sox. (BOR-ring–well, except for hopefully seeing the red sox get their butts kicked.)

Something needs to change and soon!

  103. joefish2004@comcast.net

How do we get the new builds/updates? It’s downloaded when we open the program right? Just want to make sure. Thanks.

  106. csherwood@comcast.net

I have done a little research about the blackouts. It appears that FOX’s contract requires all games on Saturday afternoons between 1PM and 7PM to be blacked out in the same region where FOX is currently broadcasting a game. So if FOX’s game runs from 4-7 on your local network, all games have to be blacked out during that time frame. Earlier games do not have to be blacked out. In addition, if a game starts earlier but runs past 4PM, the entirety of the game is allowed to be shown. The same rule applies fro Sunday nights after 8PM for ESPN’s national game. TBS has the rights to broadcast Sunday afternoon games. Starting next season TBS will no longer do Braves games but instead have a national package. There will be no blackout restrictions for TBS (as an aside TBS is also gaining rights to the Divisional Series and one of the two LCS’s, to alternate each season between leagues). The FOX contract runs through 2013, so in short, don’t expect to see any games on MLB.TV or MLB EI while a game is on Saturday afternoon FOX or Sunday night ESPN.

  107. kuncy23@msn.com

With the Mosaic player 6 windows I’m still getting games curved out like a tube tv. Unless the new build fixes the problem, which is yet to be seen, then the feed should be letterboxed. That the game doesn’t look squished and you get to see more of the field because the letterbox feed is the HD feed from the game.

Also whats with the Rogers Sports Net feed used on Thursday’s Jays/Red Soxs game not having the scoreboard graphic but having all the stats and other graphics? And please use more OTA feeds. Last night the KDFI feed wasn’t used and the A’s KICU feed wasn’t used last Sunday during the Yanks/A’s game. Both were the home team’s feed they should be used!!!

  108. coup@coupdetatshoes.com

    Hi guys,
How do you shrink the size of the screen in mlb.tv mode? And is there a way to make it ‘always on top’?

  109. coup@coupdetatshoes.com

Can somebody please help me. I can not watch on medium or high quality level. It takes forever to load and then re-buffers every 30 seconds. And rebuffering takes 5 minutes. This product has been a disgrace for mlb. It’s as if Bud Selig himself is running this.

  110. rmcc4444@gmail.com

    @mosaic

mosaic has been nearly flawless this weekend. great job.

    i am re-posting my wishlist.

-As I mentioned before, implement a “IdeaStorm” type of website, similar to what Dell has done. This will help you prioritize what features the most people want. I can’t emphasize how much this will help you guys. I have implemented similar web apps for a few large companies and customer satisfaction has gone through the roof in weeks.

EDIT: Whats the status on this? Its a shrink wrapped application?

-While in Mosaic, all of the games in progress are listed above the game I’m currently watching. That’s nice but it would be ideal if you added what inning the game was in and what team was batting.

-When I have multiple players active on my alert list a white arrow goes back and forth between the games those players are playing in. It’s very 1995ish if you know what I mean. I don’t need more things blinking on me. Instead, outline the game box with a red border or something similar.

-To help you guys support the product better, put the version of the software in the top right corner in a small font. Being in enterprise development, I would guess 25% if not more of the questions from people on the blogs are from people who have out of date software even if they think they do have the latest build. ****, sometimes I’m not even sure if I have the latest build. EDIT: You have completed this.

-Add an “Always on top” feature that allows Mosaic to always be on top. EDIT: I think now it it set to ALWAYS be on top. This should be an option in preferences.

-I’m pretty sure you are streaming all the games in the background while I’m in the Mosaic. There are some games I will never switch to, but they are taking up bandwidth. Allow me to click on a game across the top game score bar to enable or disable it. Or maybe allow people to make this change in Preferences.

-Setup an online chat room. You can market it as a chat room for people to talk about baseball, but it will turn into that and also a people helping people resource, giving your developers more free time to improve the code.

-I’m sometimes watching my favorite team and one of my player alerts pop up. I want to know what he does but I don’t want to switch games. Follow up the alert with the outcome of the players at bat.

-A one line scrolling banner giving MLB news, injury reports, etc. would further turn Mosaic into an all-in-one MLB portal.

-In Preferences, allow users to select the stream quality they want Mosaic to start up to.

-When I have a single game open in Mosaic rather than scrolling up and down to see both teams stats, make it two tabs. Also, when I go to a single game in Mosaic default the stats to the team that is currently at bat.

-The information in the Game Status tab should always be shown. It could be fit underneath box score in single game mode.

-Finally and most importantly, GET ON YOUR EXECUTIVES about customer support not answering the phone or responding to emails. I know its not your responsibility, but have your boss throw it over the fence. It’s absolutley insane that we are 5 days into the season and I cant get through to customer support and they haven’t responded to an email I sent a week ago.

  111. laman400@yahoo.com

    Blackout Question?
I am ALWAYS blacked out of the Texas Ranger games, both in Mosaic, and single game Premium 700kbps mode. Today, I just happened to check the Texas-Oakland game on both Mosaic and MLB.TV modes, and for some strange reason I am receiving the Oakland broadcast, even tho they are the road team on both services without being blacked out. I have checked my Dish Network guide, and the game isn’t being broadcast on any channel that I can receive in Arkansas where I reside. Anyone have an explanation why the game isn’t blacked out. Every time I think I understand the blackout rules, something like this pops up.

I am also having the 2-3 second delay while watching the Sunday Mets-Braves game on Mosaic. This is the first time I have had this problem. I have Windows XP. I have the DXDIAG but I don’t know where to send it. I’ve been very satisfied with Mosaic so far … anyone know what I can do?

  113. newerror81@hotmail.com

Is anyone else getting freezing every 30 seconds or so ? I’m wondering if it’s my pc setup or the product. Since re installing the new update, I’ve had freezing in every 700k and 400k single game.

  114. skaus@pacbell.net

    Hey Lamann400

    Dummy up.

Why would you tell these people when they screw up with their customer hostile blackout rules? Friday, the As were not on in Oakland, but the Texas telecast was blacked out. Explain that!

  115. brross@mindspring.com

I have been unable to use mosaic at all. With one or multiple games on the screen, the image runs across the bar that shows the score, i.e. I get a screen that is broken across the middle by a band that obscures the entire strike zone. What’s with that? I have had to use windows media at low resolution to watch at all. Even though I have a 2GB processor and over 1GB of memory the buffering is unending and a succession of stills when I try to watch at the 700KB stream. So two problems here: (1) mosaic is seriously unuseable and (2) streaming only works in low band width. Any ideas?

  116. briancmeyer2002@yahoo.com

Yeah I’ve also had problems today with freezing every 30 seconds. Mosaic worked fine early this afternoon, but during the West Coast games, I was dealing with constant freezing. I closed Mosaic, and went to MLB.com and it worked fine for an hour, but then again I was having rebuffering and freezing issues. We are almost a month into the season what is going on?

  117. holdowsky@aol.com

Mosaic is running fine although the audio cuts out. Also, and this is annoying, the score below the screen gets posted about 20 minutes before the video is shown. So I knew the final score of the Cards-Cubs game even before the last inning began. Bummer.

  118. kevohden@hotmail.com

I’m running vista Ultimate. Last week I finally got Mosaic running now I’m getting the following error

I can’t log on and I don’t know what the problem is. I have windows Vista and I tried to log on this a.m.. and I got the following error message:

I’m going to take a guess for the people asking why MLB.tv can’t just show the commercials instead of fake Pac-Man. The answer (my guess, obviously) is probably that, just like internet radio broadcasts, MLB.tv doesn’t have the legal rights to rebroadcast the commercials. Now, this isn’t an atempt to excuse the missing at-bats problem, but just an attempt to explain why they don’t show the unedited feed straight though.

  120. brross@mindspring.com

I read a few comments and figured I needed to upgrade my video driver. That solved my major mosaic problem but I note now that if I try to watch an archived game I get only the sound. Mosaic says it is playing but there is no picture.
And again could you comment on your server problems? Thanks.

  121. rogerbangert@comcast.net

Justin: I tried watching parts of about 5 archive games on Mosaic today and the sound was in perfect sync wirh the video; however, the baseball channel was still a 2 second audio delay. Does this help you in determining the problem with Mosaic live games having a 2 second delay. I’m still waiting for your evaluation of my Dxdiag that I sent you via email a couple of days ago.

  122. mark.kucharewicz@suncorp.com.au

    Hi,
Since your last update, the entire Mosaic application comes up as only a tiny 4×6 inch (approx) box on my screen. I am only able to drag it horizontally. It is all out of whack.

(Brand new PC with far more than required to run).

  123. mark.kucharewicz@suncorp.com.au

Yeah, OK – I read above and did the whole reinstall thing – Now it’s back to normal. I also share the issues of Video always on top and no true full screen.

  124. priddle@tpg.com.au

    Hi

I just purchased and installed Mosaic but am having issues. Searching the blog showed I am not the only one however i could not find a solution. I am receiving the error message “network stream error”

Swarmcast is loaded in the toolbar, i dont have an antivirus or windows firewall installed and i can view 700k videos through MLB.TV without any troubles what so ever.

Anyone who has had this problem or knows how to solve it coudl you please let me know. Much appreciated.

  125. thackett@mac.com

    @Mosaic,

Quick question: Why does MLB.tv continue to state that the Sunday night game is available on MLB.tv when it clearly is blacked-out because of ESPN? I just received the weekly schedule and it lists the Cards-Cubs game being available and last week’s email did the same with the Sox-Yanks game. Like a dummy, I believed the email and tried to watch last night’s game only to get the black-out bar.

    Thanks.

  126. mosaic@website.mlb.com

I hope everyone had a good weekend. I will be getting back to many of you today.

Let me say that many of the issues you are seeing have to do with the following.

Slow video = video card does not support Direct X 9, or needs updated drivers.

Black Video = Same as above

Rebuffering problems = High internet traffic on shared networks, Firewall router not configured.

Install issues = Grab latest setup file and reinstall

If you have error reports or logs, email them to me, please don’t post them here.

Things I can not help with

    1. Commercials playing too long, going over game

    2. Blackouts

    3. Billing, subscription changes, canceling account.

    Firewall:

The usual cause is a firewall or virus checking application preventing

access. If you have windows firewall you can review the following link to allow the

    following applications to the internet

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/security/internet/sp2_wfexceptions.mspx The programs that need access are

    MLBAPPSTART.EXE

    MLBPLAYER.EXE

    and Swarmcast-MLB-TV-Mosaic.exe

    Router:

    Open Ports:

    Out: TCP on port 1755

Out: UDP on ports 1755 and 5005

Most people behind firewalls will end up using TCP streaming. But UDP streaming is

much more efficient. You can enable UDP streaming by opening up these ports:

In: UDP between ports 1024 and 5000

Your Router may have a setting called Universal Plug and Play that allows the peer to peer communication. The default setting for UPnP is disabled. If disabled, the router will

not allow any device to automatically control the resources, such as port forwarding

    (mapping), of the router.

    Windows Media Player:

If you’re having trouble watching single game streams on either MLB.TV or within the Mosaic, I’d suggest trying the following:

    1. Open Windows Media Player

    2. Open Options, you should see a network settings tab – select this

    3. You’ll see RTSP/UDP/TCP/HTTP. Try just leaving TCP and HTTP enabled, if it’s still not working, try just HTTP.

Windows is automatically shutting mine down, saying there is an error….what’s up with that?

  128. dustin_bills@yahoo.com

I have had zero problems with mosaic until today. (I have have posted very positive posts previsouly noting this)

Now I have a ton of problems.

I had problems watching on demand games…video quality errors and no data errors.

    What happened over there?

I reinstalled and now I get this message.

    Couldn’t read TVScript Application from C:/ProgramData/MLB TV Mosaic/ TVScriptApp/mlb_broadband_ondemand_2007.qcb:

Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from call to COM component.

    Help!!!

  129. dustin_bills@yahoo.com

Might want someone who speaks better english to write error messages.

Here is what I get when I click on an on-demand inning.

“No video seek data available for this game currently. try an archive or on-demand game”

    What does this mean?

  130. newerror81@hotmail.com

I always try and check the baseball channel to see if things are working. Can’t get any video or audio today. I had to reboot twice to get into mosaic past the update screen which had a run failure. I’ve followed all the instructions regarding firewalls etc and have gotten into the moasaic screen and just get a connecting message in 6/4 and single game with blank screen.

After uninstalling and reloading again, I now have a frozen picture in a picture of the MLB guy in the upper left hand corner of the screen. Anyone else having that problem.

  135. jk.max4@insightbb.com

Ok, I have been running this program since launch and I have tried not to complain, (except to my wife). My problem is that somedays it works perfect and somedays as soon as I load it up it freezes and I can’t change between games. When I hit ctl-alt-del to get out of the frozen program it says program not responding. I have uninstalled and installed over and over again with no positive results. Need help. Thanks.

  136. christopher-blum@nyc.rr.com

Worked pretty well up until about 3 days ago, then whenever I tried to run the program no updates would come in, it would show loading and cycle for about 10 seconds, and then display the following error message:

The MLB.TV Mosaic got an unanticipated exception while loggin in. Padding is invalid and cannot be removed.

I then click OK and the program closes. Help!

  137. basham4@triad.rr.com

    HELP!

The build prior to the most recent upgrade seemed to work fine on my machine, however, now not so much.

The install seems to go fine and when I launch the player from the end of the install, the software works fine. However, once the application is shut down, it will not restart and returns the following error message (in blue, below):

Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component.

    —————————

    OK

Please let me know if there is anything I can do from my end to try and resolve this. Although I can still watch games on the MLB site, the Mosaic product is certainly the reason I wanted the premium service.

Anyway, please provide assistance as you can.

    Thanks,

Everytime I opem Mosaic, the app opens in a minimized window. Regardless of the window size, whatever action I try to perform, the only result I get is another window opening up that takes me to mlb.com. I can not switch between games, open a single game, access player tracker, drag and drop games, click on preferences, etc. Whatever i click, it opens a new webpage that directs me to MLB.com. I have been running this since 4/5/07,and have not had a problem. nothing has been updated or changed on my laptop, which is top of the line and brand new. Any thoughts?

    1. My XP computer… the sound is fine, but the video is skipping constantly… I’m basically just looking at pictures and no movement.

    2. My Vista computer… I was getting the same problems as above so I uninstalled and reinstalled the mosaic. Now when I run it (run as administrator) I’m getting errors and it won’t open.

What’s going on here… The first few weeks were great, now it’s basically useless.

    Thank you!

    @Mosaic

Does the games broadcast in HD make a clearer picture even through the streaming process? It seems that the HD games look crisper and the sound is synced more appropriately.

Another night and another good-looking Sox game. Thanks.

  145. thackett@mac.com

    @Mosaic:

Today for the first time I’m having a weird issue – the 6-game view is working fine for me, but every time I double click a game to see it in single-game view it opens a new browser window. This may be related, but the web player isn’t working for me either: whichever feed I click it tells me I’m not a subscriber although I am.

    – Shayon

  147. joyoftenthbanana@googlemail.com

Anyone else got the Washington – Phillies game available in Mosaic and then a Astros – Phillies game in preview? I’ve been wondering where the Astros – Pirates game is.

  148. hogan_disciple@hotmail.com

I’m wondering where the Astros-Pirates game is too.. It’s not available in Mosaic. It says Hou-Phi and they aren’t playing.

  149. cubs17fan17@aol.com

I have a few questions, first of all why does my 4/6 keep rebuffering about every minute and it takes 10 to rebuffer? Another question is why does my single game keep frezeing up and showing me pictures and not video?

  150. oegsud@yahoo.com

On the Mosaic right now, it shows Phi playing both Wsh and Hou. Phl is playing Wsh. But Hou is playing Pittsburgh. This game is on right now but the mosaic doesn’t show it. If you click on Hou/Phi in the blue button you get the Hou/Pitt game.

  151. mbzags@gmail.com

Are you going to make the Mosaic compatible with Windows Home Premium anytime soon? I think it’s kind of ridiculous to only make it compatible with the two versions of Windows Vista that are least used among users.

  152. mosaic@website.mlb.com

    @ e2718@hotmail.com
MLB decided not to auto renew some subscriptions or some how you got unsubscribed. You need to contact MLB to get this resolved http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/help/contact_us.jsp

    @ cubs17fan17@aol.com

Most likely because your Video card does not meet the spec’s or needs an updated driver. There may be other reasons, but send me your DXDIAG.

    @ Mbzags

We work well under Vista home.

  153. mosaic@website.mlb.com

We are aware of the HOU – PHI game not being correct. It’s a data problem, and we will fix it as soon as possible. I believe it is working as expected from the website.

  154. pevans66@madisontelco.com

So not only do we have to deal with the stupid ‘activity warning’, now there’s an ADDITIONAL popup AFTER the ‘activity warning’ telling me that the games are refreshing. Which would be wonderful, if it DIDN’T INTERRUPT THE **** GAME I’M TRYING TO WATCH. Is there ANY explanation for these asinine procedures? I’d love to hear it.

  155. mosaic@website.mlb.com

The update was to fix the HOU vs PIT game. The update will only occur when you are on the Mosaic screen, if you are in a single game, then it will not refresh (interrupt your game) until you access the Mosaic screen.

  156. pevans66@madisontelco.com

“The update will only occur when you are on the Mosaic screen, if you are in a single game, then it will not refresh (interrupt your game) until you access the Mosaic screen.”

So you’re discouraging subscribers from using Mosaic if they wish to watch a game and have access to the box score feature?

  157. pevans66@madisontelco.com

I should provide details- I was watching the Cubs/Brewers game when I got the interrupt. By ‘single game’, do you mean watcing on Premium instead of Mosaic? Because I use Mosaic primarily to watch one game and keep track of box scores, occasionally switching to other games.

  158. sluggojd@sbcglobal.net

    Mosaic,

Seriously, what are we supposed to expect from you guys in the coming days?

Are you working to improve the quality, so that it really is TV-like?

Right now, I cannot access mid or high quality stream…not that it’s really high quality anyways, but it is better than the low quality.

This is week 4. By now, you guys have certainly been given a generous grace period from us fans…us paying customers, who deserve more.

So, what’s up? How much longer should we be prepared to struggle and suffer?

Should we just give up? Call, wait on hold for 70-80 minutes and cancel?

Seriously, we all want you guys to succeed, but it might help if you were upfront and honest, instead of ignoring anyone with a clearly valid complaint.

After many consecutive days of very good quality with no rebuffering issues, the problems are back again today…and for no apparent reason.
Trying to watch the Mets game and it is rebuffering and slowing down every minute.

So, I switched from Mosaic to the website and the same thing. What’s strange is that when I check the video statistics it says that the network connection and available bandwith is 1500…but the “bandwith in use” keeps jumping and going from anywhere between a mere 32 and then back up to 682. The available bandwith is constantly high.

Also some of the feeds seem very dark, is there a way to increase the brightness of the video?

I also Use Vista Media Center on my TV, is it possible to create a Mosaic media center plugin where we can access it in media center with just the remote? If not Mosaic just the MLB TV feeds? With most of the Vista vesions including Media Center, I think this would be a great feature to add an easy option to view on the TV.

I’m having to uninstall and re-install mosaic each time I attempt to open it. The error message is:

    Couldn’t read TV script application.

    Windows Vista Home Edition.

What has been the general consensus running Mosaic with Vista? I am buying a new laptop next week and mosaic will be on my mind when i make the actual purchase. thanks for any help. rh

Today I uninstalled Mosaic and reinstalled it.

It still says “loading” after I double-click and won’t do anything else. I sent the diagnostic information as requested a couple of weeks ago and never heard anything back.

    Help.

Skaus, I have the same problem as you. I’ve actually posted several times as well and I got nothing back either. Customer service is really lacking on this issue. It’s a known issue because I have seen several people post it, but MLB support does not seem to want to address our problem.

    @ mbzags
    @ threechamps

I had that problem. Right click on mosaic icon and choose “run as administrator”

    That worked for me

  173. newerror81@hotmail.com

I see many are having the same problems I have had in the past but tonight the single games and mosaic are working fine…..No feezing at all.

Last night was horrible. probably the worst day in the last two weeks. Freezing every pitch in single game which is what I prefer to watch….but tonight….everything is fine. This is the pattern which I think has nothing to do with sending out DxDiag files, opening ports, restetting windows media player, etc….it’s the product.

ok MLB the buffer issue’s are getting outta hand Ive check cnx all good speed good, but get a rebuffer every 20 secs for an hour then it goes and runs 10 mins then poof rebuffer, rebuffer. The question I have is are we getting paid to be a Beta tester? If stays as is will be my last month of this rather pay Direct TV for service.

  175. newerror81@hotmail.com

I swear no longer than 10 minutes after i posted my compliments for the mosaic working, everything started freezing and bufferring. At least I had a few hours of the product working.

Mosiac seems to work OK while I have the six screens running. But when I go from the multi-screen and choose to see one game alone in the medium size screen it knocks my wireless connection totally off the internet! I actually have to reboot the cable modem and router. I’ve never experienced this with any other program, ever. And, now that I think of it, the same thing happened with last year’s Mosiac. What do you think is going on? I have all updated drivers and my computer more than meets your minimum specs.

  177. java_cgi_hunter@yahoo.ca

I am also having the problem of getting knocked off the internet. I do not use a router. I have to reboot my machine, not just my modem to restart it. It has only happened since the last release.

On the mosaic in x1 mode,I think the alerts that come in at the bottom of the page need some work. They are seldom on time usually very late or they are wrong altogether. I am watching the Pit/Hou game right now and at the bottom of the second inning the Pirates had Bay,Elred and Laroach batting. The alerts were late and they didn’t even mention Elred. The alerts went from Bay to Laroach.

Justin: Just received up-date version 209. It cleared up streaming in mid and high video quality. Still a 2 second delay in live audio in Mosaic Feature; no delay in archive games. I’m still waiting to hear from you on your evaluation of the Dxdiag that I emailed you about a week ago.

  180. argunjunk@yahoo.com

The single game views are freezing constantly, and I can’t switch between single games anymore.

When I say the single game views are freezing, I want to make it clear that I can still watch whatever particular game I am on. The video itself does not freeze. But the application no longer responds to mouse clicks, I can’t change to a different game, or do anything else for that matter.

I’ve been heads down replying to issues and look forward to helping you all as you send me your issues via email.

A forum will be setup soon to better manage and share information with you all.

The VIA/S3G Unichrome pro igp does not support Direct X 9, and thus fails the install test. We put in a test of the video card during the install now to prevent all of the issues people were seeing due to not meeting the minimum video card requirement. If you see this message then you need to install a video card that supports Direct X 9 and has at least 64MB of memory. I do not wish to support any specific website but here is a good list of Video cards that meet the criteria.

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=Property&N=2010380048&PropertyCodeValue=683%3A9609%2C686%3A9623&bop=And&Order=PRICE

*Note that the driver shipped with any video card is usually out of date by the time you open the box. So always visit the site manufacturer and get the latest drivers.

@One day it works the next it doesn’t

This is most likely to do you having a shared internet, and some times you have full bandwidth other times you do not. If you are having a problem with a single game then check the web site stream see if it is the same.

The mosaic kicking you off of the internet is most likely a network card driver problem. If this is a wireless card try disabling the card, and plugging directly into the modem/router and see if the problem still occurs.

Again the best way to get a response from me is to email me until we get the forums in place.

    Thank you!

I wrote you guys an email last week that about the mosaic feature. It worked for me for about 15 minutes and then it started not working correctly. Now it won’t even load up and it won’t let me remove it either. After reading the rest of the comments here, I am starting to realize that you guys put a product out that is far from developed. Like most of the others, my computer has more than enough of the requirements for this to work, and the fact that it has so many problems shows serious incompetence on your part. I have to wonder how much money is actually being paid for this BS product. Either figure it out or start giving people back their money. Now I am going to have to bring my computer in for service to figure out how to remove this program, thanks for nothing.

  184. mosaic@website.mlb.com

    @ Nick
The vast majority of the users who have posted here have had their problem fixed. There are a handful of exceptions and I am working on them now. You did not attempt to contact us once you had a problem? The add/remove feature of windows makes the uninstall process quite easy. Also if you install a new version over an older it will uninstall then install the latest version.

You can always use Microsoft’s tool to remove programs that may no longer appear in the control panel. Although your issue would be the first I’ve heard of our product not uninstalling. If you want to email me your DXDIAG I would be happy to take a look and verify everything is in order.

This product is not as advertised.

    So many streaming problems.

    Customer service is awfull.

    Has anyone requsted a refund?

    Have refunds been given?

  186. thehood369@aol.com

    For the Love Of God.

All I want to do is watch a Boston Game.

    I can view 6 games on 3″ x 3″ squares.

When I use the single game option I get ****.

    I get a blank screen.

    Total Garbage.

    Fix it or offer refunds.

  187. thackett@mac.com

    @Mosaic ?

Is there something in the works that will allow to listen to blacked-out game while watching the 4- or 6-game windows. Case in point: Sox and O’s are blacked out because I am in the Orioles region (fine, even though I live 300 miles from Baltimore). I would like to watch Toronto slap the Yankees around, but would like to hear WEEI out of Boston.

Is this a possibility through Mosaic? I don’t want to open WM stream through quicktime and then have Mosaic open as well.

    thanks.

I would rather sit obstucted view @ Fenway than struggle with this product.

Obstructed view = I Beam, thats right the seat is 12″ behind a 16″ wide I Beam.

MLB hosed us when they did the deal with Direct TV.

They then bent us over when they did the after the fact deal with cable TV.

FIX IT OR OFFER A FULL REFUND.

  190. jthompson04@drury.edu

Mine is not running in full screen like it used to. Instead it is a very scrunched up version. How do I fix it?

  191. mosaic@website.mlb.com

    @ Blackout games no /audio
Plans to have audio for blackout are in place. Also a gameday like graphic in the mosaic may appear in a future release. Currently you have to use the web to hear the game.

    @ refunds

contact http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/help/contact_us.jsp if you want a refund. If you want help you may email me with your DXDIAG and a description of the problem you are having.

    @ jthompson

If you mean the full screen that keeps the aspect ratio of the video, then that is how it is intended to be displayed. In previous builds we stretched the video to fit the screen. This distorted the image and it was decided to revert to keeping the aspect ratio. In the future we may allow both options.

I posted the following on April 23, when Mosaic hadn’t been working for 3 days. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling. After a few desultory emails, and sending the DXDIAG, I haven’t heard anything useful. It now hasn’t worked for 2 weeks.

Help!

I really want to use this and want to like it, but unless it gets fixed soon I’m going to have to cancel and sign up for the cable package. Can anybody help, soon?
